A few of my friends and I were looking for a place to stay in boston for an extended labor day weekend. This place was referred to us through a friend, and it worked out great! Its on a quiet side street with not much traffic. It was only a $5-10 cab ride to the opposite end of the city, and is close to the public transit. Two floors, 3 queen beds, and several couches in the open concept living room. There were only 6 of us but it could easily sleep 10. The kitchen was good for cooking, although we mostly ate out. We did use the roof deck for grilling and hanging out when we were tired from seeing the city. Definitely lived up to expectations
We came to stay in the Boston area for the marathon. The location and size of the townhouse was perfect for three couples. The condition and cleanliness were something else. It appeared the cleaning service did not come in before our artival. There was mildew on all shower curtains, mouldy bread in the cupboard and the tenants groceries in the fridge. Oven was so dirty we chose not to use it. Carpets were badly stained. Owner was very pleasant, however, when advised about the state of,things only offered an apology that he had not been in to see if cleaning had been completed before our arrival. I was embarrassed as I booked the house. Very clearly a place lived in by young men and not at all up to VRBO standards. There were no tea towels, dishcloths for our use. We paid a high premium due to the marathon. We were very disappointed.
We enjoyed this lovely, spacious, condo over the Thanksgiving holiday. There was plenty of room for myself and three grown children. The owner was responsive to any questions we had. The condo was built recently so beautiful new hardwood floors, clean kitchen and baths. The kitchen was well stocked. We wanted to find a place with a parking space since one of my son's lives in the area, but we discovered Charlestown is not as convenient to public transportation as some other neighborhoods. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the decks given the weather but there are nice outdoor spaces with views. The condo has lots of natural light but a we wished there was a bit more lighting in the main living areas. My only minor suggestion to the owner is to have the entry stair carpet cleaned since muddy steps didn't leave a good first impression. Otherwise a great place to stay with a larger group who wants 3 private rooms with separate baths!
