About Jude Wasechek
I am a full-time potter, and show my work in Silver City and several other galleries. When I'm not in my studio, I'm usually with my horses (and mule). My husband Peter is an amateur naturalist, gardener, and the town plumber.
Jude Wasechek purchased this House in 2001
Why Jude Wasechek chose Glenwood
This stretch of the San Francisco River is a hotspot of biodiversity, with good birding right from your porch. We have plentiful water for gardening, duck raising, and irrigating pasture. Two of our horses are Spanish Barbs, who are particularly well-suited to the desert. They belong to the Wilbur Cruce strain, found isolated in southern Arizona some decades ago.
What makes this House unique
We welcome guests at our occasional evening raku pottery firings, an outdoor event with a flair. More casual evenings are spent sitting by the bonfire or enjoying the stars.

We had a wonderful stay!!
We had an amazing stay! The house was quaint and very well maintained. We were very comfortable and enjoyed being unplugged for a few days. There is Internet access but we preferred to be outside. Our kids 8 and 12 had a great time and weren’t quite ready to come home. Jude and Peter were gracious hosts and made the stay even better. Tim was also very kind. We had a very nice stay and look forward to coming back!
Peaceful and amazing stay!!!
Jude and Peter are excellent hosts, and their Oasis by the Wilderness is just that. You can experience all the area has to offer, while also relaxing away from it all. The spacious accommodations have all you need, and Peter and Jude do all they can to make your stay comfortable. This place is great!!
Beautiful and peaceful location. Amazing hosts!
Loved our stay! Jude, Peter and Tim were super hosts who welcomed us with duck eggs and organic vegetables. Gave us tips on where to eat and what to see In the area. The guesthouse was lovely, clean and roomy and had everything we needed. Can’t wait to go back! We miss it already
The property was charming and well kept. We felt right at home!
Although we only stayed one night at the oasis, the atmosphere was wonderful. The cabin was very quaint and well-decorated with lovely art. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds and admiring the peaceful setting. We hope to return soon!

A True "Oasis in the Desert"
A wonderful getaway at the base of the Gila mountains. Explore the old mining town of Moggollon, hike the Catwalk flume trail, soak in the Sanfrancisco Hot Springs, hike Mineral Creek, or just hang out at the property watching birds. Jude and Peter are excellent hosts, full of information and history about the area. The casita is wonderful with all the amenities you could want. If peace, quiet, and beauty are on your list....Stay Here!
This is a lush deep green river valley set at 4600' at the base of the west face of the Mogollon Mountains which rise up quickly to over 10,000'. Wilderness boundary close by. Migratory birds use this north-south river as a flyway, Sandhill Cranes spend the winter here. Irrigated pasture and organic garden, with horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and an incredible variety of wildlife passing through. Working art studio with raku kilns and pottery on display. The immediate area has great hiking opportunities, beautiful volcanic geology, dark skies for astronomers, archeological sites, hot springs, and a (relatively) mild climate year-round.
