Spectacular waterfront property just before the Big Island causeway! The home is a 1344 sq. Ft bungalow with attached garage. This bright cheery home welcomes you and caters to the fantastic views through all the windows that provide so much natural lighting. Sit and enjoy your morning coffee in the 3 season screened sunroom. The main floor consists of a master bedroom with ensuite, 2 additional bedrooms, 1 full bathroom and an open concept kitchen/dining/livingroom that is cozy and comfortable. There is a fully developed basement with a big screen tv, games table and treadmill. There is also a 1/2 bath in the basement. 4 acres of manicured lawn allows you to enjoy peace and tranquility or fun and games with the family.
Bring your bikes and you can safely bike 5 km enjoying the ocean view and continue an additional 6 km to the end of the island. The property boarders the estuary where you can canoe or kayak enjoying the peacefulness of the area or taking in the abundant bird life. 10 km of sandy beach is a mere 400m from the house where you can swim, walk, run and look for sea glass. Big Island beach is on the Northlumberland Strait which has been termed the 'warmest waters north of the Carolina's'.
Beach towels, beach chairs and cooler are provided.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher and all amenities including wifi, satellite tv, local telephone, hair dryer, iron, washer and dryer.
Located on the Sunrise Trail this is a perfect location, a scenic 25 minute drive to either New Glasgow or Antigonish. Only 2.2 km away is the LBR Gas Bar, NSLC and Variety Store.
The Calgary based owners have been spending their last 17 summers along with their 3 kids at Big Island. It is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life and have the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Doug is a native of Antigonish and remembers spending time on Big Island beach as a kid.

We rented this cottage (it is really a house) the last week of Sept/first week of Oct 2016 -- it is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We used it as a base to explore PEI ; many parts of NS and NB. The surrounds are absolutely beautiful -- beach ; Northumberland Strait; sunsets.... The house is very well appointed ; décor; furnishings etc are well above average -- very comfortable; roomy; lovely sun porch and deck. highly recommend. you will not be disappointed. Owner is very friendly and nice to deal with.
If you're looking for perfection in a cottage, your search is over! This is more like a home than a cottage - it has everything you could need for your stay - great beach, huge lawn for games, a wonderful screened in room, a beautiful deck for entertaining, or just enjoying the ocean view. Even on non-beach days, it was just so nice to relax inside. You won't be disappointed!
We rent Angie’s cottage in summer 2016 and it was just fabulous. The cottage is located in an almost 10 acres wide landscape in front of the ocean. In fact it’s in front of a sea inlet. The cottage is a small walk away from a nice ocean beach where you can swim or sat down all day along until the nice beautiful sunset.
The cottage is really nice, ultra clean and fully equipped. The only things you have to bring are your own clothes.
And what about Angie s warm-hearthed welcome. She’ll make sure everything is perfect and that nothing is missing.
If you’re looking for a nice spot to relax and to be far from crowded place, this is the place to rent in Nova Scotia.

Big Island is located 30 kilometres from both Antigonish and New Glasgow. Both towns have all amenities: restaurants, banks, hospital, shopping, cinemas, live theatre , massage therapists, fitness centre, museum, etc.

Contact owner if Saturday switchout day needs to be changed or if stay is not on a weekly basis. Less than 5 night rentals will have $150.00 cleaning fee added. Contact owner with any other requests
