Great location

  • 3 of 5

Property located right in Glenwood Canyon. which was attractive. Nice access to canyon bike path and 4-wheeling and horseback riding on the ranch. Need add a drip coffee maker, more kitchen amenities, and an extra chair in dining room for 5 people staying there. No internet or phone service at this location which may or may not be a plus to guests.

Great location, guest house needs some fine tuning

  • 3 of 5

Overall, our recent stay was enjoyable, and with some attention to detail the guest house would make an excellent vacation stay for a couple or small family. The good: the location of Bair Ranch and the guest house was wonderful, convenient to Glenwood Springs and the Beaver Creek area. The grounds are secure and it is close enough to town yet feels remote and outdoorsy (we enjoyed watching wildlife from the patio in the mornings). The guest house sleeps five comfortably and was nicely decorated, the satellite TV was a great perk for relaxing in the evening. The owners were kind and welcoming and worked with us when miscommunication/planning error on our part necessitated us to stay and extra night. The not so good: The grounds are beautiful, but the area just outside the guest house was littered with heavy equipment, chemical/herbicide storage and various debris which altered the beauty of the area. For the majority of our stay the parking area was taken up by large equipment, making parking difficult. Communication was a problem, from getting in touch for arrival to arranging activities, we had difficulty reaching the right person and getting clear information. The house didn't seem quite ready for guests, small details like visible drywall in the kitchen, lack of toilet paper holder and towel racks/hooks, various DIY materials (flooring, etc) were stashed around the house. Lack of some essentials (hair dryer, coffee for coffee maker, colander, etc) and fridge was used for storing medications and veterinary supplies. I also had to do some basic cleaning/dusting when we arrived as it was needed. The biggest issue that we had is that it was very hot during the time of our stay, unseasonably so, with highs in the upper 80's and low 90's. The house is not equipped with A/C or ceiling fans and it became VERY hot and stuffy making sleeping difficult. The addition of a portable A/C unit would be nice for times like this to keep guests comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but feel that the space could use a little more TLC to make it 5 star.

Beautiful and off the grid

  • 5 of 5

My husband, baby, and I enjoyed our stay here. Glenwood Springs, hanging lake, and great hikes are all within a 10 minutes drive. The house looks just like the pictures, and the property itself is incredible and fun to explore. As others mentioned, there is no wifi or cell service. I would recommend this property to friends and hope to visit again.

Niche Property

  • 3 of 5

I would probably give this four stars if it was just me staying there. However I brought my 3yo and 7yo daughters, so I would give it 3 stars based on the stay with small children.

The ranch is very beautiful and if you are looking for privacy, the owners are great about keeping their distance, however they assured me to let them know anytime I needed anything.

Verizon is my carrier so I had no cell service. Again that can be good and bad.

There were too many dangers on the ranch to let my children explore unsupervised.

The house was fairly clean, and everything you need is in the house.

Under the right circumstances, I would return, you just have to know this is a niche experience and better for something's than others.

Great getaway, nice house, stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We visited in early August for a couple-day getaway to Glenwood Springs. Bair Ranch was close enough to go back and forth easily, yet secluded enough to feel in the wilderness. The house is as advertised, well kept and includes all the necessities. The grocery store/Target is very accessible to get food/sundries. We grilled a couple times over the open flame grill pit on the private patio - breathtaking views. The family that lives/works on the ranch is always close by if you need them, but gave us unfiltered privacy on our stay. Lastly, we didn't have time for the activities on the ranch, but just out your door are plenty of things to do: horseback riding, ATV adventures, chuckwagon dinners, etc.

We had a great stay and would recommend it.
