Come enjoy your vacation at our family friendly upscale home only a three minute walk from the ocean! We love our home in Santa Cruz and we can't wait to share it with you.
Hard to find Westside location (close to UC Santa Cruz and the best North Coast surf spots).
We remodeled it with all wood floors, stone countertops, luxury master bathroom, gourmet kitchen, king sized bed, cathedral ceilings and many other wonderful details.
It is very clean -- Everything is pristine and waiting for you!
The lot is beautifully landscaped. Don't be shy about picking a strawberry for your morning cereal!
The master bedroom has a walk in closet, its own spa-quality bathroom and a sliding glass door to the very private back yard. This is definitely a perfect spot for a lover's retreat. The master bed is also at the far end of the house from the other two bedrooms so it feels like a private oasis.
The second bedroom has bunk beds and the third bedroom has a futon bed (full/queen size). There is ample space in the front room and other areas to put pads or inflatable beds so bring your whole family!
Toys! Toys! Toys!
Our place is very kid-friendly with a ton of toys and books for your enjoyment. You have never seen a bigger Thomas the train set! There is a lawn and balls to kick around. It also has a tall tea tree hedge and a closed front gate to keep everyone in and private (although we do not allow you to leave a dog in the yard alone.) Also, the house is set up so the toys and kid rooms are in the front of the house so the adults can enjoy the kitchen/living room/master bed-bath without the chaos.
We allow well behaved pets with an additional deposit. There are also lots of local pet boarding options including Bed and Biscuits /Groomingdales if you don't think your dog would be a good fit with our home or landscaping.
We love arts and crafts. You will find several one-of-a-kind pieces in the home-- mostly from local Santa Cruz artisans! Don't feel shy about asking for information on where you can find something similar.
You'll have access to everything except the garage. Parking is on the street, but it is free. Everyone parks on the street on this block so your car won't stick out.
We will not be in town. You'll have the place to yourself!
Location! Location! Location!
Access to every type of beach living activity, amenity, and the sea! It is entirely possibly to park your car and not move it for days. Take long walks on the beach, listen to the seals (you can hear them from the house!), build sand castles with the kids, cruise West Cliff drive on a comfy bike, Stand Up Paddle, Sea Kayak, take a jog down the coast or a romantic sunset sail on the Chardonnay II. Its an amazing slice of heaven.
The house is a 3 minute walk to the ocean. There is a secret cove beach right at the end of Fair Avenue that I'll give you directions to when you get here.
There is also great tide pooling for the kids nearby and a dog friendly beach for Fido.
For surfers there are lots of options-- You can walk to Mitchell's cove (the closest break) but the famous Steamers lane and Cowells cove are only minutes away. Tell me what kind of wave you like and I'll tell you where to go. For mountain bike riders you can bike from our house onto the main biking path that will lead you to all of the single track at Wilder Ranch and beyond. If you don't have a bike they rent them right up the street at Another Bike Shop. They rent stand up paddle boards on the beach at Cowells. The last time I went I saw baby otters, dolphins, and a whale spout!
We are just down the hill from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
We are less than ten minutes from all of the excitement at the Boardwalk (we like to ride our bikes there-- takes about 15-20 minutes- then we don't have to pay for parking!)
We are less than ten minutes from down town, but, frankly, you'll have everything you need right here.
If you walk from our house along West Cliff to the lighthouse you can watch the pro-surfers do their tricks at Steamers Lane. If you walk the other way on West Cliff you can visit the Monarch butterfly sanctuary at Natural Bridges State Park.
If you like tennis there are courts only a few blocks away at Derby Park where there is also a skate park for the bigger kids and climbing structure for the little kids. It's also a fun place to fly kites.
We are only a couple blocks from the natural grocery store (New Leaf), Safeway, and the many restaurants/amenities on Mission St. Also walking/biking distance are several fun wine bars, a brewery, a delightful french cafe, and cute trendy shops.
We live on a happy block and it's fairly common to see neighbors chatting and children playing in the street.
If you haven't been to Santa Cruz, it's time for a visit- between the beaches, surfing, mountain biking, hiking, good music, and wine tasting (80 wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains), and more, it makes for a perfect get-away.
It's a dream to live here, to listen to the waves crash and the seal lions bark in the night and wake up to the ocean breeze, we are thrilled to be able to share it with you!
Walking, biking, driving are all very easy! Public transit - there is a bus that stops a block from the house on Delaware Avenue.
We weren't too familiar with the west side of Santa Cruz, and loved it being so close to the house. The house is very well appointed, beautiful kitchen, great master shower and lovely backyard.
The house had everything we needed. We walked to the dog-friendly beach every day, visited Sanata Cruz mountain brewery, kelley's bakery, verve coffee, and west end tap room each a couple of times...all of them only three or four blocks away. There are several wine tasting rooms in the same area, though we didn't try them.
Roxanne checked in with us to make sure we made it in alright and that everything was in order. All in all, a great stay and we'd rent again for sure.
Had a wonderful time at this property, the place was immaculate, the kitchen perfect for our combined family of 6 and the location was ideal for the surfers and those of us that enjoyed the short walks to the wineries, the coffee shop, the charcuterie and New Leaf for some great food. The only complaint was that the guest bed was not very comfortable for 2 adults and could use some upgrading. Looking into renting the place for a month next year.
We rented this house for five nights at the end of July. We were two families with children under the age of 8. We found the house to be very accommodating for our needs. We enjoyed the playroom and spacious outdoor space. We liked the house and would recommend it for a single family vacation. It is very close to the cliffs which made evening walks very pleasant. The neighborhood was very quiet and safe.
We only had one issue with the trash. When we arrived the trash was full, and the first night it was raided by raccoons, leaving a mess in the morning. It might be helpful to have an additional trash can in the garage.
