3 Bedroom, 1 Bath With Creek And Forest Views
About Desra McDonald
Friends and family have poured countless hours into cleaning and refurbishing this cabin to make it what you see today. Great care has been put into the property by these fine people to fix things big (electric, dry walling, plumbing) and small (spring on the back door, little feet under the refrigerator) and all has been worked on out of hearts of love. Back in the day, we started a road trip find the best places ever for what we would call, "fish & camp"adventures. Gradually over the years, we found ourselves returning to the rockies where we decided our "fish and camp" adventures needed a what a better home base than an authentic log cabin to call home while you explore and experience all there is to do in this gorgeous place we call our backyard, the Rocky Mountains!
Desra McDonald purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Desra McDonald chose Allenspark
We've named the rooms and many property features after all the fine role models and mentors in our lives. You'll learn more about them when you stay with us. Our Promise... is to provide a memorable place where you and your family can experience an adventure of a lifetime!
What makes this Cabin unique
Nothing like sitting on the back deck listening to the sounds of the creek while you read a book and drink hot chocolate in the morning; nothing like building a tent out of a sheet and some sticks so you can picnic and color with your kids on a sunny afternoon by the creek; nothing like listening to and watching all the hummingbirds of Allenspark swirl around the birdfeeders; nothing like watching chippy (this is who we call our resident chipmunk, and all his family members) scurry around the big pine tree and sit beside you on the front porch. There is just something about staying in a real log cabin on a creek that evokes the spirit of adventure. As Del Gue from the movie Jeramiah Johnson once said, "these here (the rocky mountains) is god’s finest sculpturins...I'll be a mountain man until the day i die." Let the adventures begin!

Gorgeous vintage log cabin! Desiree and Jack have put an enormous amount of effort into this property which really made our stay very comfortable and memorable. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and relaxing. The friendly Hummingbirds kept flying in very close as if to urge us to fill and hang up the feeder. Once filled and hung we had a steady stream of visitors entertaining us. The stream out back was charming and relaxing to sit by in the evening. Thank you Desiree and Jack! The fine memories of Jack's Cabin will be with us forever!
My wife and I were able to spend three blissful days in Allenspark at Jack's Cabin. The property is amazing, just as described, and is close enough to Estes Park and the Rock Mtn National Park to be convenient but far enough away to be separated from the crowds. We will definitely come back! It is everything, and more then, we expected!
Perfect home away from home
Tucked away in the quiet little village of Allenspark, this cozy place was the perfect beginning and end to every day of my vacation. Multiple places to sit and read/relax outside as well as inside. Going to sleep each night with the creek's lullaby accompanied by the wind in the pines and aspens...it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks to Jack and Desra for sharing their home.
Great get away place!
We had a great time at this well supplied cabin. It has a creek running through the back that was fun to fish and explore around. It is very rustic but comfortable and kind of hidden away from things, which we enjoyed. It is close enough to Estes Park to go there for a fun day too. Overall, we would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a more remote area. There were good eating places nearby. The owners were great hosts and very friendly and helpful.
Let's Keep It Our SECRET!
Tucked away in the quaint town of Allenspark is a beautifully manicured cabin, which includes a soaking tub for all those ladies who desire to soak away the stress they left behind. We missed out on seeing the wildlife, but hear could hear it across the mountain. The hosts are excellent individuals to work with. For those coming with multiple family members, there is another cabin just next door, which would make a great place for a family reunion when one combines the two cabins. The babbling brook, was my favorite feature. However, a short trot to the left of the property's highest point is the 2nd best feature. There is seating available, allowing one to view the mountainside in its splendor, with one, two or more.
Only three nights and gone most all the time each day, but it was wonderful to return each evening to a cozy and comfortable bed. Wish we would have had more time to relax and enjoy the comfy cabin and creek, but as it were, we needed at place close by for the evenings, and this was the perfect spot. It was clean, warm and homey - a blessing for us during our granddaughter's beautiful wedding. Thank you ----

Less than a mile from the cabins is Highlands Presbyterian property, with access to a gorgeous nature trail, zip line, archery and low ropes courses (call ahead to reserve).
