Black mold and no hot water in kitchen !

  • 1 of 5

As other reviews have stated this apartment is up 6 flights of steep stairs so if you are carrying heavy luggage it is hard work reaching the apartment! There is black mold on the walls of the main bathroom and in the bath/shower. I have pictures to show this. Also the second bathroom is extremely small and only a small child would be able to comfortably shower in there. I contacted Frederico on the first day to say that there was no hot water available to wash dishes in the kitchen and the apartment had not been cleaned satisfactorily. The apartment had not been cleaned well and the fridge and some cups and utensils were dirty. There was trash left around the apartment. He offered to send another cleaner but we did not want to be disturbed as we were only staying a few days. With regard to the hot water Frederico told me I had to turn the faucet to the left....which we had for 5 mins....and then he told me I would need to boil the kettle if we wanted hot water!

Also someone else was using the terrace every day in our absence when we were out in the day, as the furniture kept moving, even though I asked Frederico if we were the only ones with a key. If it was the owner he did not let me know he was entering in our absence. I received no further help or response from the owner. This apartment needs some maintenance and a fresh coat of paint. The wallpaper in the master bedroom is stained and torn. I was born and raised in Europe...none of these issues are linked to the age of the building. We have stayed at 4 VRBO properties and have never left a bad review. This was a very disappointing experience and we would not rent this property again.

Lovely, spacious apartment in a great, quiet location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this apartment in early June with 4 adults and two children, and there was ample room for all of us. With the warming weather, it was great to have air conditioning, especially as the apartment is on the top floor of the building. Although we were not bothered by the many stairs (95 to be exact - our kids counted!) up to the flat, some people may have difficulty getting up and down with luggage. We really enjoyed the sweet terrace and also the super location - we walked everywhere. We would definitely stay here again!

Convenient cozy apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nights in this darling apartment recently. The apartment was clean and cared for and communication with the owner was easy both before and during the rental. He also arranged our transportation from the airport after our late night arrival. The apartment is located in the Jewish ghetto area which is perfect for walking, great restaurants, and feeling like you are living with locals. We loved that it was not touristy but very close to all of the main spots. The rooftop balcony is small but a wonderful place to go for morning breakfast or evening wine. We would definitely stay here again when returning to Rome. Our family of four included a 19-year-old daughter and 22-year-old son who felt comfortable going to the very near by grocery store, gelateria and shopping on their own. I will not kid you, the stairs were daunting in the evenings but we climbed them numerous times without a problem. Love the area and the apartment. It was exactly as described and the pictures were a true representation of it. We walked everywhere and never used public transportation although there was a bus stop and rail very close by. Glad we fiund this place and area of Rome.

Perfect except for the 95 steps

  • 4 of 5

This place was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The decor was slightly eclectic, not jarringly sleek and shiny nor dark and cluttered and darkly antique. There were some nice antique pieces, but a modern, comfortable couch. The tiled floor, with old hexagonal tiles, had a few tiles loose, but they were not dangerous and it kind of added to the character of the place. The 2 bathrooms were extremely tiny, but workable (and the jetted tub was nice after a long day walking around Rome). Five of us slept in the place for 3 nights without getting on top of each other. With the windows open, it was nice and cool at night after the hot days. Unfortunately, a road was being repaved at night very close by, so the first 2 nights were a bit noisy. We knew going in that it was on the fifth floor with no elevator. It was very easy to disregard that fact when we were booking it, but after spending long days on the hard streets of Rome walking miles it was more of a problem. Three of us were in our 60s, but even for the younger 2 in our party, the climb was brutal. It kept us from going back to the apartment during the day at all because we did not want to have to face an additional climb up the stairs. If we had all had full sized suitcases, it would have been even more difficult. I would highly recommend this place for fit younger people, but perhaps not for anyone with arthritic knees. I would have given it 5 stars except for the steps.

So very central...

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment. Very central. A little noisy from the trams outside , especially in the twin room. Also, the neighbours below were a little noisy on occasion. However...closing the window solved the problem and the apartment is in such a fabulous position with a wonderful terrace - it matters not!! Close to all the main sights of Rome - everything within walking distance. Stairs a challenge with luggage but even as "two mature age couples "it was just fine.

We would thoroughly recommend this apartment.

Great Place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed staying at this place. The location is perfect, just minutes from so many places. We were two couples traveling together and we found the location very convenient. We used a taxi a couple times, it was just 9 euro to get to the Vatican.

The roof top terrace was a nice place to sit in the evenings and talk. We slept well in the beds. We would stay at this place again. Federico arranged a nice taxi for us to and from the airport, that was nice. The WiFi was great, there was information in the living room for our stay including locations of places to eat, grocery stores, etc.

I had asked Federico before we traveled if he knew of anyone who could be a guide for us while we were in Rome, and he connected us to Linnea who was wonderful, she was very fun, kind, and knowledgeable. And she was our private guide for us and her prices were great! So much better than joining a big group of people you don't know. She went out of her way to help us.
