The cottage is cool and the location is awesome! It's situated in the open dune grass about twenty five feet from the beach. It is what we call a two and a half bedroom setup (one queen bedroom facing the ocean, one bunk room, and a third elevated 3/4 bed off the central room that kids enjoy sleeping in - a cot is available too). It has one bath with a shower and a galley kitchen. Amenities include a working stone fireplace made of ocean-weathered rocks from the surrounding islands, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee maker, a TV with DVD player (movie shop in town but lots of movies at the cottage), and wifi! You will find a number of new high quality furniture pieces, rugs, and lighting, along with luxury bath and bedroom linens. Friendly, non- aggressive dogs are very welcome and will thoroughly enjoy the beach. The protected beach and bay is ideal for kayaking, SUPs, and kid-friendly wakeboarding and there is an island at one end of the beach that folks can walk to at low tide. There are also many coastal walking/hiking trails in the area (Great Wass Island Preserve and the Bold Coast Trail to name a couple). If you are a power boat or sailing family, there are some really special coves and islands to explore. The cottage is open from June through mid-October. Our family and friends have enjoyed this beach and area for generations and we hope you have a chance to enjoy this special place too.

About Steve Mitchell and family
My name is Steve (at right in photo) and my twin brother Jon is on the left (our dad is in the middle). The two of us (and our lovely wives) bought the cottage from our uncle in the Fall of 2014. It's been a special place for our family for four generations and we're hoping to keep that going! My immediate family and I live outside Portland, Maine and my brother and his family live on the north shore of Massachusetts. We're a pretty tight, but busy family and enjoy getting together at the beach for a couple weeks each summer to reconnect, relax, have some adventures, and have fun! It's a really special place and we really enjoy sharing it with others!

Why Steve Mitchell and family chose Jonesport
The cottage is about 25ft from a rare, sandy beach on the rocky coast of Maine!
What makes this Cottage unique
Awesome sunrises, sounds of the waves gently lapping at the shore and fresh ocean breezes at night after a day of relaxing or exploring. It's a special location!

A lovely place to get away
We went in October, and it felt like we had the whole beach to ourself. The house was cozy. The owners are wonderful, answering our questions and providing recommendations. I hope I get to come back and stay again.
quaint, rustic, peaceful
It was a privilege to share the original builder's dream. Simple, beautiful, built from what nature had to offer and fronted by Maine's coastline.
Daily travels took us to interesting places to visit and eat ( try the Pickled Wrinkle) and learn what a wrinkle is.
Our host Steve was very accommodating and gracious. We arrived to find a bottle of wine which was most welcome after an 11 hour drive from Pa with a toy fox terrier and a German shepherd. The drive was worth it. Our pups thought so too.
We've taken many sweet memories with us.
Great spot on a beautiful beach
We had a great time re-exploring Jonesport and the surrounding natural beauty. Great little spot on a wonderful beach. We look forward to returning next year.
Our family of 5 had a great stay at Twin Ledges. The beachfront there is spectacular. About 1/2 mile of sandy beach, without any crowds! Kids had a great time searching for rocks and beach glass at low tide, and floating on tubes during high tide. We enjoyed evening walks every day. Great place to fly kites. The cottage is cozy, clean and comfortable. Lots of windows and great views of sun rise and moon rise, and the beach. We found great hikes to go on each day. Kids said they had a great vacation and want to go back. We agree!
Great Oceanfront Cottage
We stayed for a week in late July and loved it. The cottage is cute and well maintained, you can tell it is well loved by its owners. This cottage makes for a great family vacation destination that avoids the super touristy side of Maine and gives an authentic Down East feel. Kids can play in the water, collect coastal treasures, and run around on the quiet beach all a few feet from the porch. We can’t wait to go back!
Comfortable and cozy.
Cottage was very comfortable and the beach was just lovely. It was a very quiet time of year to go (early October) and that suited us just fine! Thank you Steve and family.
