A clean, pleasant, attractive, and comfortable house.

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our group and our meeting went well. It's a good space to work and play in, and it is well kept. No problem with A/C or water at all. We enjoyed our stay. My only concern--the path to the dock is a bit steep and slippery--I walked down on the grass, and that was better.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying ! Glad to hear everything worked- especially the new a/c unit ! The walk is actually gentle - for our area - our steep lots are over 100 steps down - like around the corner from this home... this is the best home for the money, and this slope our truly flat lot homes are more $ here and every lake everywhere . Thanks again for staying, hope to see you back soon. Repeats obtain specials !

Clean. Good size bedrooms. Easy access to driveway with boat and trailer. Nice dock. Close to marina for boat ramp access and gas.

Would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying! This is a great home.. the owner really takes care of the home continuously...and as you noted great location ! That driveway is probably the most convenient one around actually., most forget about that important element.. thanks again and hope to see you soon back here !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; the house was very spacious and furnished well. We also loved having our private dock and spent a great deal of our time when not on the lake. The steep hill was a bit dangerous and my teenage granddaughter fell down the hill while walking on top of large rocks. Also we had a water problem in the house. The well water contained coliform bacteria when tested during our stay. Unfortunately we had been drinking the water. On wednesday a company came out and treated it. Then we had no water in house for a short period of time. I called the rental company and suggested they compensate us. They brought us bottled waters which we appreciated. The water finally came back on with normal pressure. Also a/c went out and since my husband is Hvac tech he checked air filters. Both were terribly dirty..had date of Sept 2016. We notified rental co. After my husband removed filters units seem to work better. With everything considered our family still made some great memories!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying. Yes the community / county well - all of that area went down. Actually there was no coliform- we have the results of the tests before and after. No one was in danger- just a kink in the system for a few hours. ( Otherwise you would not have had water for days ). The HVAC filters may have been written on that way- however that is a brand new system and they just placed in the filters they pulled from the locked space. They pull any date - which does make it confusing- it is replaced each month and was scheduled after your departure. The "hill" you are describing is very gentle gradual walking path and those rocks as you noted are actually the non slip granite combined stone, place intentionally - for any issue one may have walking. This lot is so gentle - this past week a wheelchair went up and down it -- so not sure - maybe you are thinking of a home in mountain view shores where there are 100 steps down to the lake ? The extended family young and old have all made it up and down here - and choose this home intentionally for the gentle walkway to the firepit and dock, where your tiki bar and kayaks await ! thanks again for staying..

Large Comfortable House with Perfect Dock

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent three weeks at this property in August 2016. The house was very spacious it was really nice for the parents to have a separate space on the 3rd fllor upstairs (private) and for the kids to be downstairs and also have a hangout in the basement. We spent a lot of time eating dinner outside on the porch. There is a grill right there perfect for summer meals. But we spent even more time down at the dock . I think this house has one of the best docks at Smith Mountain Lake . We rented a boat from Mitchell's point marina which also is a fabulous thing to do . We parked the boat at the dock . We read in the chairs at the dock -we kayaked And swam at the dock . We spent time eating at the table at the dock as well. This house has three refrigerators which is also great . The refrigerator at the dock was convenient for kids soda and adult drinks. This house is also very walkable or boatable to Mitchell's point marina which has a great restaurant . Excellent pizza and music on Friday nights . We also will had fires at the fire pit at the house and the kids had Smore's many evenings. This house was exactly what we had expected and in fact probably exceeded our expectations. Smith Mountain Lake was one of the best vacations we've ever had I highly recommend this lake and this house.

The only caution I would have is that this house has very limited Internet. There is Wi-Fi but it's not a dedicated line. We have AT&T ourselves and got a fine signal on AT&T and found it easier to just use our AT&T signal as a hotspot rather than try to figure out the house Internet .

Some of the things we did at Smith Mountain Lake include swimming kayaking hiking at the state park swimming to the islands and exploring the islands , finding the rope swing near the dam, boating to restaurants, pulling a floats behind the boat for the kids , Jetskis rented from the state park, visiting the wineries and the breweries Reading relaxing cooking and also pulling out some old school board games!

Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: We thank you for your comments. This home does offer 3 spacious levels, 2 kitchens , plus wrap around deck for grilling out. Large dock with fridge at the water for your convenience. Kayaks, firepit and smores, sounds like fabulous fun! Thank you for staying and visit again.

Well maintained and clean!

  • 4 of 5

The house was great for our family! Beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for everyone. Unfortunately, we were there during a record heat wave and the air conditioner did struggle to keep the house cool. It did cool down overnight. The fire pit was great for s'mores but the heat limited that activity! Dock is great! Plenty of room for everyone and the tiki bar was a plus! We could store all of our beverages and snacks to limit trips back up to the house. Plenty of "noodles" and some life jackets. Kids loved rowing about in canoe!

It is difficult to find houses without a hill from house to dock and this house has one! Not the toughest hill we've seen but enough of a climb to think twice about making the trip down and up! (The intense heat could have also been a factor). Limited shallow water for little ones and, unless they were willing to jump into deeper water there was no "easy" way in or out of the lake. View from house is great but the dock is directly across from a row of boat storage and, being in the cove limits view of lake at that level.

With that being said, we agreed that we all liked it enough to return......hopefully with some cooler weather!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying ! Yes all the homes with the heat and the humidity struggled that week... It is hard for any home to keep up with that heat ! Thank you for noticing all the great things the owner has done . They constantly update and more , so those beds are newer and that fire-pit was installed a couple of years ago. We hope to see you again soon , maybe when it is cooler - so you can get those smore's in next time !
