About Chipper Roth
Our family drove from Alabama to San Miguel every summer in the early Sixties, to study art and Spanish. After attending Vassar College, graduated from UC Berkeley in 1970, and returned for a graduate degree in Public Health. I taught Iyengar Yoga for many years, and practiced acupuncture, then owned an adventure travel company, guiding and outfitting expeditions and treks in Nepal, Spain, France, and Peru. Emigrated to British Columbia in the mid-nineties and built a home in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). Returned to fall in love again with San Miguel in 2011.
Chipper Roth purchased this House in 2012
Why Chipper Roth chose Zona Centro
The house is across the street from the Instituto Allende, which I attended in the summers of 1962-64 and again in 1969. At the time of purchase in 2012 it was the well-known painter Keith Keller's art school, with the bedrooms used for his students. After Keith passed away, we did a complete renovation from top to bottom, retaining only the charming floors and tilework, and the courtyard. Its appeal was the incredible location and instant access to all of San Miguel, the views of the Parroquia and monumental center, and the surrounding community of artists and artisans.
What makes this House unique
The house is full of nooks and crannies for privacy and entertaining. Situated on three floors, with patios, balconies and terraces on each, and appointed with a collection of Mexican folkloric art collected for 50 years, with Moroccan and Asian touches, and textiles from Bhutan and Nepal. The enormous guest kitchen has copper farmhouse sinks and cookware, a huge selection of pottery from all over Mexico, and shelves of cookbooks. Indoor dining room seats 8. A large library plus music studio in the Sala, satellite TV with Canadian programming and DVD players. We have very romantic lighting and a wealth of flowering plants and fruit trees. Lots of rooms both for entertaining guests and finding peace and privacy. If you are attending a wedding at the Rosewood or Instituto Allende, we are the ideal location. We have libraries in every suite, and current issues of the New Yorker, Economist, Vanity Fair, Wired, and Vogue on hand for our guests.

Loved Casa del Suenos!
The four of us stayed a week at this beautifully appointed and spacious four bedroom Casa, with its numerous patios at different levels. Chipper was a joy to coordinate our stay and delightful to meet upon our arrival. Great central location and easy walking distance to many delightful restaurants and shops....we checked out a few highly recommended by Chipper and she was spot on!
This couldn't have been better!
Chipper and Peter's house in San Miguel de Allende was a beautiful place to spend the Christmas holiday with my family (and our pets). They are gracious hosts who introduced us to the wonders of San Miguel and were very responsive to all our questions and needs. It was the most beautiful and well outfitted house I've ever rented and I'm planning to return as soon as possible.
Beautiful property-great location!
We loved our time at this beautiful property! Mia, the house manager was wonderful and super helpful! We slept comfortably with the doors open to let the fresh air in at night. The house is situated within a short walking distance to everything. There are two markets close by for food and any essentials you may need. Great restaurants and wine stores are close by as well! We would love to return and stay here again!
Great location, had everything as stated, excellent for the 9 of us, 2 fams, would rent again.
Chip snd Peter were very accomadating. They have a very clear house manuel plus great restaurant suggestions. Don't bother to cook. They responded to calls in a timely manner and they know SM well. Afton
Loved this house!
We’ve been several times in San Miguel de Allende. We usually rent a house but this time our party was larger and needed one than will accommodate all of us. As a large Mexican family we wanted to be together at all times and casa Sueños had the perfect space for family dinners and a lovely patio to play board games, chat, or just chill and enjoy the amazing weather. The rooms were spacious, clean, and lovely decorated. Everything worked well and the three terraces were perfect spots to relax with great views of the city and Mexican plants and furniture. Lupe helped us clean the house. She was discreet, well- mannered, and effective. The owners were welcoming, easy going, and polite. They made us feel just at home. Adding to this, the location was perfect! It is walking distance to El Jardin and in front of Instituto Allende and temporary markets as well as popular restaurants and small boutiques. I totally recommend it. We really enjoyed it.
Located on main street of San Miguel across from Instituto Allende and Saturday Organic farmer's market, steps from popular restaurants, health food store, gourmet deli, specialty wine and liquor stores, and boutiques. 12 minute easy walk up to the Jardin through the historic center. Walk everywhere or catch a taxi in front of the house. Most convenient location possible, yet quiet and private behind the walls.
