Put your toes in the sand and watch dolphins from your balcony at “Dream of the Dolphin”, a delightful, stylish and completely renovated (April 2015) International flavored 3 Bedroom/3 Bath ocean-front condo beckons you to hear the waves crashing and still walk to town center or down the Folly Pier to the Pavillion to fish or just look at the dolphins which abound there.
Located directly on the beach, and less than a block from the Folly Beach Pavilion Pier and the heart of downtown Folly Beach (but far enough away not to hear it)! It rents SUNDAY TO SUNDAY JUNE 1-AUGUST 19 in high season (less traffic and better cleaning). Long weekends available the rest of the year, and longer term during winter at extremely discounted rates.
You are on the dunes immediately once you cross over at the private crossover just below your balcony (see pic of hawk on walkway), thru the dune grass, past the new dune fences -- right into the sea. If you like you can saunter next door to the iconic Folly Beach Pier (front and center views from living area and MBR)—or even fish there or right in the surf.
July 4 and Labor Day fireworks take place directly in front of your spacious balcony near the Pier, famous since the 1940’s, where you can take pictures, fish or just enjoy taking the air and counting dolphins directly over the sea.
This tranquil and stylish flat (1 of only 6 units in this special building) was completely renovated top-to-bottom in spring 2015 by the new owner, including all new exotic Tigerwood hardwood floors throughout (but for tile in kitchen and baths), quartz countertops and antique stone walls in kitchen, and granite and stone bath countertops throughout.
Warm ambiance created by golden, streaked tigerwood floors and eclectic international and natural art impart the holiday glow you are looking for. Every light and sink fixture, door knob and furnishing--put in place since Feb 1, 2015 -- along with all new paint thruout in au courant seaside colors completes a transformation to the perfect seaside retreat, yet, with party central only a block away.
All new furnishings (though some are antiques, like the Chinois armoire in the MBR), include custom made down and feather filled couch, rattan and wicker empire style armchairs, charming rubbed black DR set and coffee table, new bedroom furniture throughout, not to mention a bevel-legged writing desk directly overlooking the ocean through the sliders in the MBR—perfect for your computer and writing needs (hardwire Internet available at desk; WIFI thruout) .
We have been told by more than one realtor (and extensive research has confirmed) that this property is the only direct oceanfront condo rental in Folly Beach that has been transformed completely in top of the line fashion. Located in the heart of downtown Folly Beach, near the end of the first block east of Center St, with Bert’s famous market (and muffins) just two buildings away, yet secure from the party noise of restaurants and bars only a block away, this location is unequalled at any Charleston area beach.
So often, flats advertised as ocean front at other beaches in the Charleston area are found to be in fortresses well behind pools and extensive grounds, with just a glimpse of faraway water—in this case you can hear the waves clearly at all time—its smack on the sea.
The Charleston area (voted by Conde Nast 4 years in a row as #1 city in the US to visit, and in 2012 and 2013 #1 in the WORLD) is perfect for a long weekend or weekly getaway with your family or group of friends (sleeps 6 adults in 2 Queen beds & a King (plus a rollaway single stashed in the guest BR closet could accommodate an extra child).
You don’t need to drive anywhere except downtown Charleston (less than 15-20 mins away) to see the historic sites and sample the famous cuisine and historic market area, since you can stroll to the Pavillion pier, beach, shops, eclectic grocery store, restaurants and Folly nightlife. If it weren’t for the designated parking spots (3 for this unit this year), you might forget where you parked.
Inside is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, with all new appliances but for the stainless fridge ie, new stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer; fabulous rubbed black wood dining table/chairs and square coffee table, HUGE flat screen cable TV (with DVD) visible from thru-out LR, DR and kitchen, with additional flat screen TV’s in MBR and Queen BR.
The oversized MBR has King bed, Chinese armoire, writing desk and two red Chinese night stands (photographed and featured in Charleston Style magazine in a two page layout the day they were purchased), as well as a spacious wall-in closet with multiple furniture units.
Queen and twin BR’s are similarly furnished with stylish and unique furnishings. Of course, WIFI is included as well. And private outdoor shower for sandy beachgoers and a private beach crossover complete the scene.
Linens and towels are provided, and so are beach chairs, but don’t forget your beach towels.
The best of what Folly has to offer beckons at your doorstep. Whether it’s lounging on the beach counting the ocean dolphins, strolling the beach for miles each direction, fishing or crabbing from the pier, kayaking with dolphins in the nearby tidal river (more dolphins live in tidal creeks here than anywhere else in North America and they stay here year round, not migrating like most dolphin populations --(check out Flipper Finders for kayak rentals and guided tours), boogie boarding or paddle boarding, or just browsing the colorful shops and people-watching at your choice of outdoor restaurants and watering holes, you are never far from home.
And in 20 minutes you can be in downtown Charleston, taking a horse-drawn carriage ride in the historical area and Battery, embarking on a boat tour of Fort Sumpter and the Battery, shopping the famous covered outdoor market (3-4 blocks worth-- NOT to be missed), and trying the famous cuisine that helped make Charleston Conde Nast 'Traveler' magazine's No 1 city to visit IN THE WORLD for 2 years in a row !
You can eat out or stay in; the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook meals at home and a new electric barbeque on the balcony. A brand new Harris Teeter grocery was installed just a year ago on Folly Road, just as you enter the general Folly area, and Bert’s is a short block away for quick fixes and home made muffins etc.
Restaurants to fit every taste and style are at your fingertips, ranging from the elegant Blu at the Tides, overlooking the Atlantic (tapas along with unusual variety of entrees) to the famed Lost Dog Café for breakfast/brunch, to myriad seafood and crab houses, multiple restaurants and bars with live music, roofbars, Mexican (Taco Boy !!), sushi— to the gritty (but famous) Bowen’s Island for sunsets and freshly caught seafood/oysters--you name it-- all are within blocks from your nest.
All of this across the street and up a short block from the most happening beach in SC.
A stay in this serene retreat is a rare combination of nature tranquility (and excitement) and making the social scene in two very different venues within 20 minutes of each other-- iconic Folly Beach and historical Charleston. All surrounded by furnishings carefully picked to enhance the Experience.
