About nancy reynolds
We have been coming to Longboat for 50 years, in Nancy’s case, and 10 years, in Chuck’s case, and love the area. After more than a year of shopping for the perfect place, we bought in March, 2015.
nancy reynolds purchased this House in 2015
Why nancy reynolds chose Longboat Key
There are three reasons we bought this house. First, it is south-facing, which is an absolute must during winter's shorter days. The second is the family room, which has been renovated to make it a very useable, family-friendly space. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, is the lanai/pool area. Many Florida houses do not provide the room (or exposure) to accommodate three truly separate seating areas, one for the morning sun, one for the afternoon sun, and the third, which is covered, for eating.

One Word. Paradise.
I almost hesitate to review this property because we want to keep it all to ourselves.
If you know Longboat Key, then you know Emerald Harbor. Quiet, upscale, friendly. The home is everything you can ask for ... immaculate, well-equipped, and well-maintained. Although we have rented February/March for the past two years, we would highly recommend this home at any time throughout the year. Wide canals invite manatee and dolphin visitors (and the fish are leaping almost non-stop) and the Southern exposure is conducive to morning sunrises over coffee and afternoon pool time. The homeowners are incredibly conscientious about ensuring that everything in the home is in good working order, and immediately respond to even the smallest maintenance issue.
This is not a wild-party type of property (nor is anywhere on Longboat Key) but the home is accommodating enough for large gatherings as well as small intimate dinner parties. It is less than a one-mile walk to Harry's, a Longboat Key institution that combines a convenience store, pet-friendly outdoor restaurant, deli and caterer, and only slightly further to Durante Park, Longboat Key's hidden gem.
As a visitor to Longboat Key for over 25 years, I can safely say that this property meets and exceeds all expectations if you are looking for clean, quiet, comfortable and well-maintained surroundings. We are counting the days for when we can return.
Perfect house for vacationing in Longboat Key
Every summer we go to one of the islands on the Florida’s Gulf coast. Longboat Key is my favorite island. The beaches are empty; the sand is white; the water, gentle and warm. We just returned from a wonderful week at this property in Longboat Key and I already know I will try to rent this property again next year. This is a newly remodeled house with an excellent spacious layout. Everything was spotless and the furniture, including beds, looked new and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, plenty of storage space, and stainless steel appliances, so it is easy to keep clean and organized even if you cook meals every day. The pool is large enough for swimming, enclosed to keep insects away, but close enough to the canal that you can hear the fish splashing in the water. You can probably fish from the deck on the back as well, but we didn’t try that. There was also a funny tailless raccoon wondering around every evening and plenty of birds. The neighborhood is very quiet and located in one of the best areas of Longboat Key, less than a mile from Joan M. Durante Park, and with a private entrance to the beach across the street from the neighborhood. We traveled with dogs and they are not allowed on any of the beaches, but Durante Park is a great place to walk the dogs with pet friendly water fountains, lots of shade, and a few spots where they can get wet. The trails in the park make about 2 miles and adding the walk from the house and back, it would be close to 3.5 miles, long enough to get your dogs tired before you head out to the beach.
Fantastic spot on canal!
This is one of the nicest homes we have ever rented. We have rented on Anna Maria, Sanibel, and twice on Longboat Key. Now we know where we want to be while the snow blows in hometown NY.
This home is newly renovated and decorated with lots of room for everyone. I especially loved the great gas stove ( a rarity in a rental.)
The pool area has lots of seating, and is a fine spot to listen and watch the local ospreys.
One night there was a large fish rising in the canal that actually made a sound loud enough to get your attention.
Longboat Key is quiet and residential, and this home is definitely a place to get your needed rest.
This newly renovated 3-bedroom house offers the best Longboat Key has to offer. Located on Longboat Key, it is an easy trip to St. Armands Circle, but far enough away to avoid the frenzy and traffic of south Longboat, with convenient acess over the Cortez bridge, which is only 1 1/2 miles north. With eight excellent restaurants within a mile, you will find that there is little reason to leave the island. The Renowned Harry's Bar, with the best breakfasts on the island, is an easy walk. Rent a bike at Backyard Bicycles, next to Harry’s. Rent a boat or stock up on bait at Canon’s Marina, 1/2 mile away. Walk to the seemingless endless Whitney beach on the dedicated private entrance. Fish or watch the ducks and mantees from the dock. All that makes Florida the world's vacation choice comes with this house. The house has been renovated to update all windows, both bathrooms, and to expand the living space into a huge kitchen/eating/family room, which is not cut up into segregated spaces, as is found in most homes built at that time. The result is an inclusive, family-friendly and easy-to-use room. All appliances are new. Whether there are two or six people, you will find that the living area provides the laid back, casual Florida feeling, All the furniture is new, except for the deck furniture which is in perfect condition. There is no need to worry about mattresses with indentations or lumps in them. A 55" smart TV with Netflix access provides entertainment in the family room. The south-facing lanai/patio/pool area is very spacious. There are three sitting areas. One faces east, so early risers can sip coffee and catch the first sunlight. One faces west, offering a great sunset view. The third is under covered area and offers an outdoor eating option for up to six people. Or, watch your favorite shows on the outdoor TV. For warm days, turn on the fan. This house is on a wide canal in a quiet neighborhood. There is a dock, with mooring space for any boat up to 30' in length.
