Fabulous house overlooking Alhambra
We had a very enjoyable week in this house in the Albaicin district. The house is lovely and we really enjoyed being able to lie on the sunbeds on the main terrace. Both this and the higher terrace have views of the Alhambra, which is about 30 minutes away on foot. The main centre of Granada is also about the same distance on foot but both can also be reached by regular buses.
The Alhambra and Generalife gardens are even more amazing than expected.
Granada is very picturesque and interesting yet the house is also on the edge of the city close to countryside. We also caught a local bus to villages in tha Alpujarra (Capileira, Bubion and Pampaneira are very pretty) from the bus station that is on the outskirts of Granada (we got a taxi to the bus station).
Our host, Daniel, was extremely friendly and helpful. He showed us round the local area and supplied us with food for the first day when shops were shut.
We can thoroughly recommend this property.
Wonderful house in wonderful location
We stayed in February at this perfectly situated house in the Albayzin, which is the historic, whitewashed neghborhood. Their are great view of the Alhambra Palace and the surrounding monuments & houses. The house itself was extremely comfortable, with fireplaces, and lots of space, including a giant kitchen. Extra butane heaters were provided and though it was cold outside, it was very comfy inside. The master bedroom and its bath are also huge, occupying the entire second floor. Communication with Charles was great, and Ana met us as planned to give the keys.
Autumn in Granada
We enjoyed a week at the above property in Granada, Spain. It was a great location in The Albaicin, the ancient part of Granada. It is located uphill and we thoroughly appreciated the execrcise we got walking back after dinner in the downtown area, however it could be a problem for those who are less fit. Flat, comfortable shoes are a must!
The property was pretty much as advertised, clean, comfortable with a great kitchen. Views of the Alhambra were spectacular. It was nice to go to bed at night and see the Alhambra lit up.
The one thing that gave us pause was not being able to lock the front door. There is a heavy, sturdy gate which locks however no way to lock the house itself and perhaps, that is the norm for the locals, but it left us feeling a little vulnerable. We had to carry our passports and valuables with us at all times. I think a lock would be an easy fix.
Overall a great place to stay!
Very comfortable, well set out & equipped. In a great location and with a fabulous view
We found the property very comfortable, well set out & equipped. It's in a great location not far to walk to most things(if you dont feel like walking, the C1&2 buses are nearby & regular) and with a fabulous view of the Albaicin neighbourhood and the Alhambra
Thank you for the wonderful feedback--the house's location is truly special, and Granada has done an excellent job of providing public transport in the historic area.
Wonderful, roomy apartment with great views
This apartment was very roomy & comfortable. Has great views of the Alhambra and a great neighborhood to wander and eat. Only drawback are the "streets" getting to it. Our GPS in the car gave a route that was essentially not driveable, sending us into extremely narrow "streets." Had a friend who showed us how to do it directly and where to park the car in a secured lot (a 10 minute walk), not on the "streets" around the apartment. I never scratched a rental car until this trip. When I did park the car near the apartment the first few days, others scratched the car going by it and never left info.
We are so glad you enjoyed the house, with its great location and views.
Prospective guests should know that the Albaicin, which forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of a myriad of narrow streets, walking streets, alleys, and plazas large and small. This is part of its charm and historic character. Casa Albayzin Romantico, however, actually has drive up acess (unusual for the neighbourhood), and one can park nearby on the street or in plazas! Still, it is necessary to be careful when driving in the historic areas as the streets were not designed for cars. Also, please be careful where you park! One must leave enough space for other vehicles to pass!
Charming; great location
This is a beautiful, traditional house on a narrow cobbled hill in the Albecin district, with great Alhambra views. It has two sun terraces and a huge kitchen as well as two bathrooms: we loved the jacuzzi bath with views all over the city. The front terrace is huge, and fitted with beautiful plants. If you're driving bear in mind the house is on a very narrow street and you'll need to be good at parking and 3-point turns. Choose the smallest rental car! It's a 15/20 min walk down the hill to Plaza Nueva and a longer hike back (you need to be quite fit to stay here). We walked to the Alhambra entrance in about half and hour It's lovely and quiet apart from the hourly bells from a nearby church, El Salvador. We will return!
Thank you for your review! The Albaicin is great for walking, though it is hilly so you should have good shoes and take your time!
Located at an historic address in the historic old Arab quarter, you can walk to multiple restaurants, cafes, historic sites, and shops.
