What makes this house unique

This lovely house has the best, broad views of the Alhambra Palace in the historic quarter, lots of space, and features drive-up access, a rare quality in this ancient neighborhood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for making this house available. We are more than comfortable. The house is amazing and exactly what I was looking for. It a close to perfect place to stay and work. I stayed in a couple of house in Albaicin over the last few years, but no of the other comes close to your house.

Charming; great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, traditional house on a narrow cobbled hill in the Albecin district, with great Alhambra views. It has two sun terraces and a huge kitchen as well as two bathrooms: we loved the jacuzzi bath with views all over the city. The front terrace is huge, and fitted with beautiful plants. If you're driving bear in mind the house is on a very narrow street and you'll need to be good at parking and 3-point turns. Choose the smallest rental car! It's a 15/20 min walk down the hill to Plaza Nueva and a longer hike back (you need to be quite fit to stay here). We walked to the Alhambra entrance in about half and hour It's lovely and quiet apart from the hourly bells from a nearby church, El Salvador. We will return!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! The Albaicin is great for walking, though it is hilly so you should have good shoes and take your time!

A bit of paradise

  • 5 of 5

This place is incredible. I have stayed in vacation rentals all over the globe and this is truly one of the most magical experiences I've had. It was difficult leaving the house, which is saying a lot in a town like Granada. There is so much to see and do and when your starting point is perched on a hill, treating to you to a visual feast, it's easy to feel like you're in wonderland. The home is very spacious, tastefully appointed and has many comfortable places, both indoors and out, to lounge and enjoy the views. The kitchen is lovely, an inspiring place to cook a meal. All in all this a terrific place to stay and highly recommended.

Great rental in Albaicin

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in Granada several times, we were delighted to find this beautiful, spacious house in the Albaicín. With stunning views from the two terraces and the bedroom it was an enchanting place. The house has everything you might need with a huge kitchen and relaxing lounge. The large terrace outside the lounge provided for relaxed outdoor living. Just 10 minutes walk from town, the location was perfect. I will absolutely want to stay here again when we are next visiting Granada.

Superb house and location

  • 5 of 5

This house was incredible. It was very spacious, modern with views of the Alhambra and Generalife. The best of all was the garden terrace where I spent time drinking tea or coffee and reading. It is so peaceful. The views from the upstair terrace or the bedroom balconies are amazing especially at night! It felt like a true refuge from the beautiful but bustling town of Granada.

A lovely property with room for improvements

  • 3 of 5

We spent a month in Granada (first time) and had many great experiences with that much time. Charles was very responsive and kind and I had no issues with his communications, whatsoever. Helpful and good at answering questions, coordinating arrival, etc.

The house, honestly, needs work. Not too much work, either. In our opinion, just going through and tidying up the little maintenance issues would pop this home to another level.

Pros: Location was great, quiet, lovely views, tucked into Albaicin, close to everything you would want. Kitchen is huge, and the upper bedroom & bathroom are also large. The sitting room was cozy and warm with the fireplace.

Cons: The place had a thick layer of grime and dust all over every surface, save bathrooms. Terrace was loaded with debris. There was a strange smell that stayed with the house the entire time - not rotten, but almost chemical-like. Blankets for bed were dusty and dirty, didn't want to use them. Broken lamp shades in bedroom, lights all over home that did not even work or had missing bulbs. There were no keys or working locks to actually secure the main house once past the entry gate. It may be a safe area, but still unsettling to know we could never secure the property, nor would the door secure at the top terrace level. Only part of the property was open for our access, the rest was locked off and seemingly not in use at all. Plants throughout looked like they were suffering and hadn't been tended to.

It was disappointing to have so many things to comment on about this property, because it really does have potential. Simple things, minimal energy and investment would perk this place right up. The house needs some love.

Owner's Response: We appreciate EW's feedback and are so happy they enjoyed their stay in lovely Granada, and particularly our wonderful location in the upper Albaicin, an historic house with broad views of the Alhambra Palace. EW was good about communication before arrival, however it is disappointing they did nothing to tell us of many concerns expressed in this review while they were actually staying at the property for a month. Light bulbs, for instance, would have been happily replaced, or the terrace organized. We are also happy to report that since their stay, the large marble front terrace has been completely cleaned and the plants pruned. A new gardener has taken over as of December, 2016. The bedroom now has new lamps (a previous renter had broken the bedside lampshades with no time to replace them before EW's stay),but again EW never requested replacements. New kitchen ceiling lights have been installed as well. In addition, we have to disagree about the "thick layer of grime and dust over every surface". This is simply untrue. The house is always thoroughly cleaned by a professional housekeeper before every rental entry, and was totally repainted recently. This is occasionally a slight odor from the natural linseed oil used to treat the handcut clay floor tiles, but again EW never asked us about this. EW chose not to use offered housekeeping during their stay. Also, we do not put blankets on the bed, we use duvets and duvet covers, which are laundered before every stay. So, we are unsure about the reference to blankets. The house is completely secure with the main door locked; the terrace doors are not on street level, and neither (obviously) is the door to the rooftop terrace, which is accessed from the bedroom. The house is above and behind a 15' vertical wall to street level and safer than most houses in the Albaicin, locked or unlocked. Finally, EW rented the main house, not the other apartment on the property, This is exactly what she received: a 1400 square foot house. Yes, there is another apartment for occasional private use, but EW rented and received exactly what was advertised. We wish EW all the best with future rentals.
