Great base for a girls weekend
Twelve of us stayed here for a birthday celebration and blues festival and we loved it. There was plenty of room for all of us, beds were comfy, showers were hot and had no waiting lines, A/C worked fine. Krista was a wonderful host and communication with her was easy. We appreciated all the accurate info on the property and the prior reviews so we knew what to expect. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, though it could use a little TLC. The rest of the house was nice and clean. We hope to be back!
Thanks for the great review. Sorry I could not get to cleaning the porch since we just had long term guests leaving the day you arrived. Normally the porch is in much better shape.
Wonderful historic house and a great location
Our stay was wonderful. The house was interesting and comfortable. Good for our larger group.
We really enjoyed relaxing with some spotted cows on the awesome front porch. Krista was a great host. She was very welcoming and went out of her way to make sure we were acclimated to the house and city.
Amazing Historic Home in Central Wisconsin
I rented this home to stay in with some friends while we visited Granite Peak. The home is beautiful. A classic historic home with plenty of bathrooms and space for a large group or a family. The home is very nicely decorated with pieces from the early 1900s. Krista, the owner, is gracious host and very accommodating. She met us when we arrived and showed us around the home. I would definitely revisit!
Krista was awesome.
Loved the character of the house and the warmth of the fireplaces. Dining room table, large made it perfect for our large family to eat and play games at. The proximity to down town was great-walking distance, even in the COLD December days!
rented whole home - good stay
A group of us rented the whole property for a wedding in town. Communication with Krista was AMAZING! She was quick to respond, openly answered our questions and was incredibly accommodating for our large group. The home is suited well to large groups as we all had our own bedroom with attached private bathroom, a common dining area and a front porch to gather on. The area is quiet and safe, and downtown Wausau was lovely. The beds were comfy, the rooms seemed pretty well temperature controlled (we love it ice cold, and the room on the top floor was most comfortable). Some rooms had additional seating areas, bath/shower combos, etc - not the same in all rooms.
For our large group the frig in the sitting room was great to keep all the food and beverages in, however mealtime was a little tight. The dining room is FABULOUS, but the kitchen itself is quit small - galley kitchen for two is a generous description. While i loved my stay at the home, I would have liked to know how small the kitchen was (my mistake as I never asked) so we could plan more freezer to oven meals rather than trying to use the stove top.
The dishwasher is a sanitizer which we'd never used and were too nervous to try (despite the instructions and guidance provided). We hand washed everything, which was a fun event being the kitchen was so small - but I have to reiterate, we CHOSE to hand was;, there was the sanitizer to use.
The decoration around the house was really interesting and had many little knick-knacks to view and admire.
Overall great experience and suited the needs of our large group.
Thank you so much for your kind review. I am glad that you enjoyed the house and the eclectic antiques and decorations. The weekend you stayed was very hot out so I am glad that you found the house to be comfortable. It normally stays very cool as long as the doors and windows are kept shut as much as possible. The kitchen is small but we have had other larger groups find it sufficient for cooking large meals. We wish we would have known you needed more freezer space as there is a large freezer in the basement that we would have offered you to use. Thank you again for your very kind comments and we hope you return another time in the future.
Nice house and very friendly Krista!
I had a good stay there!
