Welcome to the Kooky Krab! Located at 2708 Island Drive (HWY 210), North Topsail Beach, NC, this charming island cottage features two bedrooms and one bathroom and is sure to provide you with the perfect home base for your beach getaway. Just 250 feet from the beach! Perfect for small groups and budget-friendly, the Kooky Krab offers just what you need for a week of relaxation and Topsail Island adventure! Larger group? Consider also booking the SS Minnow, right next door! Dog friendly. Screened in front porch and a spacious, enclosed outdoor shower below. When the wind is right, free Wi-Fi! We prefer dogs 40 pounds and under, but will accept larger, well-behaved, crate-trained dogs. A pet fee of $150 per reservation applies for owners bringing their well-behaved dogs. Veteran-owned.

Change-over day is Saturday. Few rentals on the island allow partial weeks that extend over a Saturday. Doing so substantially limits rental potential for the week before and the week after the Saturday. However, we will accommodate requests for partial weeks that do extend over a Saturday on a last-minute availability basis. Please see the calendar for availability, and scroll through this page to view rates, as they vary by season.

A little about this part of the island. Dunes protect the Island, and the municipality protects the dunes in that beach access is only via walkways over the dunes. These beach accesses act to somewhat restrict beach pressure. Because of the Emergency Response Center at the corner, there is a cut-through in the dune which is used by those wishing not to have to use the stairs and those pulling beach buggies; this is unique to this part of the island. Public parking is limited here, as well. There is room for perhaps ten cars to park near our beach access. In addition, this part of the island is very narrow, and so there is not room for many houses per unit of beach front (see map at very bottom). And, there are not homes on every parcel of property. Most homes here are vacation spots for use exclusively by the owners and occupancy at a given time is low. For these reasons, the beach is not crowded - ever. But ... if you want crowds, pizza, burgers, souvenir shopping, supplies, fishing tackle, ice cream, etc, take the two mile drive into Surf City!

This is an area of the beach that is uncrowded and beautiful. Great for relaxing with a good book, swimming, or fishing. This area is not too touristy and often there are only a couple of people on the beach. The beach access is only a short walk away. See photo. This property is right next door to the SS Minnow beach house.
