Pennance Villa is a stunning, granite built, three-bedroomed traditional Cornish country house, constructed sometime between 1818 and 1840 - the historical records are a little vague!.
It sits in a beautiful, peaceful, rural setting at the end of a private lane with no through traffic. From the patio and all bedrooms there are superb, south-facing, country views.
Having been modernised to a very high standard Pennance Villa retains a light and airy feel with big windows and high ceilings. There is a large conservatory with sofas and chairs overlooking the pool and garden and a great place to sit and relax. The conservatory has subtle lights for evening use.
The property's original features are seen throughout the property. The fireplace in the kitchen is a traditional Cornish hearth (decorative). There is a large (decorative) fireplace in the dining room and in the sitting room there is a working log-burning stove very cozy for the autumnal and winter evenings!
All the bedrooms are on the first floor with the main bedroom, with a king-sixed bed and having an en suite with shower, basin and WC. Bedroom two has a super-king-size bed with deep fill mattresses. (This room can be made up as two 3ft singles if required.) Bedroom three has a standard double-bed. They are all extremely comfortable and a good night's sleep is assured!
The large family bathroom and en-suite to the main bedroom both feature top-quality fittings. The family bathroom also has an enormous bath, as well as a separate shower.
On the ground floor there is a well fitted modern kitchen leading to a large dining room, utility area, 'boot room', sitting room (with its log-burning fireplace) and a large conservatory overlooking the deck, patio and garden.
The kitchen is large and very well appointed. In the kitchen there is a large wooden, hand-made, kitchen island featuring a solid Oak butcher's block top over extended on one edge to form a breakfast bar. There are three stools each with backs and matching wooden seats. Family and friends can sit comfortably in the kitchen enjoying each others company whilst meals are taken and / or prepared. There is ample crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware for entertaining and unbreakable glasses and plates for outdoor dining.
A lovely feature of this house is its Mediterranean feel with a decking area to the side of the conservatory with a cast aluminum garden table and six chairs great for lazy holiday lunches and dinners. There is large patio surrounding a private heated swimming pool (heated in the summer months and available for use between May and September only) with sun loungers and chairs. There is a Weber Q series gas BBQ which is provided for guests use. The pool house contains a WC and hand basin to avoid the need to dash inside with wet feet!
Linen, towels (hand, bath, kitchen and pool) and end of stay clean are all included in the rental. If you book to stay two weeks (lucky things!) then a change of linen and a clean at the end of the first week is also included . A travel cot and high-chair are available for guests use if needed.
The house will be available for your arrival from 4pm onwards. Our housekeeper wil leave the house perfect for your arrival.
We provide a welcome basket of Cornish goodies and snacks; jam, coffee, tea, juice, and buiscuits and a cake to help you settle in and to take the edge off your hunger as soon as you arrive.
At the front of the house there is parking for up to three cars.
