About the Neighborhood:
The location is superb. The flat is in Barrio Norte, which is an interesting neighborhood, calm and safe. It is also filled with great shopping, sidewalk cafes and tempting restaurants. Fifty meters from Av Santa Fe, two blocks from the Bulnes subway station and one block from bus stops providing access to all other parts of the city. You are also just 2 blocks from Alto Palermo Shopping where you can buy everything you need. Taxis (which are very inexpensive in Buenos Aires) also abound and circulate 24hs.
My name is Flavia de la Fuente. I was born in Buenos Aires in 1959. I'm a film journalist. With my husband we directed a film magazine called 'El Amante / Cine'. Also, we directed for four years the Buenos Aires International Film Festival. Now, we live at the beach, and we run together a blog called “La lectora provisoria” where we write about films, books, life, etc.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1997
My husband and I bought this apartment in 1997. We chose this neighborhood, because it's very convenient. You are near every place you need to go in town. Also, there is a subway station two blocks away, and buses and taxis are all around. Filled with cafés, restaurants, the Alto Palermo Shopping Mall and a safe atmosphere it’s a perfect place to be. We lived there very happily until 2004. Then, we decided to move to a town at the beach and spend only one month a year in Buenos Aires, in our flat. So, we decided to rent it during the rest of the year. In this way, we can afford having two homes with everything we need, one in Buenos Aires and the other in San Clemente. To manage the apartment in BA, the person in charge is my friend Mariana Ventureira.
It's a real Buenos Aires apartment with everything you may need in your home. Comfortable, full of light, with great beds, best quality linens, cozy, full of books and CD's, original paintings by Argentine artists. The location is great: two blocks from the subway and the Alto Palermo Shopping Mall. The maid comes twice a week.
This apartment is very comfortable and well located. Easy access to other areas with numerous options locally, restaurants, cafes, shops of all kinds.
The apartment itself is very quiet. Flavia is a very gracious host and was available for our needs. Her agent, Mariana, also was extremely willing to help in any way. All our expectations were met and we will return. We heartily recommend it.
My friend and I stayed in Flavia’s apartment two full weeks and had a great time in Buenos Aires. Her apartment is very spacious, cosy, clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. Immediately after arriving in it we felt at home. As the apartment is situated in Barrio Norte, it is very easy to reach and discover all parts of Buenos Aires by the underground, buses but especially by walking. Flavia is very attentive and helpful and looks after her guests perfectly and with big heart. I definitely want to come back.
We stayed at Flavia's place for an entire month. The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos. Since the beginning of our communication with Flavia things rolled nicely with her and her assistant Mariana, lovely lady!, who was waiting for us at the apartment when we arrived. The residency is located in the hug of BA- walking distance to everything, including buses and suite. The building is quite and Demetrio, the building manager, is very nice man who made himself available in case we needed something. There were two housekeepers- Benjamin, lovely & hard working young lady and Tita, nice talkative lady. One came on Mondays and the other one on Thursdays from 9am to 2pm. This was a little too intrusive for us who went to bed really late and enjoyed quite and slow mornings. Overall the experience was super! I will recommend this rental and I will rent it again next in BA without hesitation.
I only have good comments about this apartment. The location is great, the apartment is spacious, comfortable (the beds are especially great!), clean and well equiped. It really feels authentic and unique, with a cosy atmosphere. The owner is very helpful and cordial. We stayed for almost 2 weeks with our young daughter and we had a wonderful time! After a few days it felt like home! We would love to come back!
Renting this family-style suite was my first venture on VRBO and so there was some anxiety about the whole process --- especially my assessment of the suite based on the info posted on VRBO. The first very good impressions carried through the whole process and stay. The owner was as congenial as one could expect and promptly replied to emails and phone calls to make the original arrangements. The owner`s agent was professional, cordial and as helpful as you could wish for.
And then the suite. This is not a suite that is set up just for rental. This is a real home! The photos are real -- everything was as displayed on VRBO. (The books are everywhere and a very eclectic collection and many are in English.) The kitchen is a full kitchen --- lots of appliances, utensils, dishes etc --- a small eating table was in the kitchen, separate from the dining room with its table. I`m sure everything worked but I only snacked at home as there were too many reasonable restaurants nearby. The stove, fridge, microwave and coffee maker all worked! I did not use the laundry has I had my personal laundry done.
The apartment was clean and very well maintained and the maid service was extremely efficient. The wifi worked very well. (We were shown how to use the tv, and dvd player but never found occasion to use them.) The daytime rooms are very spacious with lots of light. And the dining room had room for a yoga mat and for some tango practice too , (with the table pushed to the corner) The bedrooms were well setup and the inside bedroom in particular was very quiet and comfortable. The front (small) bedroom had lots of closet and storage, however, I did find it a bit noisy at night. Very different from my usual home neighbourhood which is extremely quiet. For others more used to city noise, I`m sure it would be fine.
The location served me very well --- close to restaurants, as I said, and lots of everyday shops & services -- for groceries, laundry, and close to transit; subway and buses! and taxis always close at hand as well.
The building is very well run, quiet and secure and neighbourly. My stay was 4 weeks and I was soon recognized by the building manager as I came and went.
Everything about this home makes me want to return, soon.
Everything we had to say about this apartment (See Review from September 2008) still holds true. Clearly something about this city, this neighborhood, and this apartment keeps drawing us, bringing us back every year for stays of at least a month. By now, after six years, whenever we arrive we feel like we’re coming home—and that’s not something that can be said about many rental apartments and deserves reiteration. The spaciousness, quality of light, and general level of comfort draw us in every time.
Over the years, favorite places have closed but others continue to open. Shared public spaces (cafés and restaurants) is a basic fact (and factor) of Porteño life.
