I spent the early part of my youth living in the North End. My family owned a home just up the street from the Cottage on Hull St.
I attended Saint Anthony's, Saint Mary's and Christopher Columbus High School all located in the North End. We attended
Sunday mass at either Saint Leonard's or Saint Mary's churches, My mother loved the children's Choirs at these churches and we would split our time between them.
My family moved to the South Shore in the late sixties due to my fathers job change.
I have always loved the North End and returned there to visit my Aunts and walk the neighborhood streets every chance I could.
Joseph and Susan DeFazio Property owners purchased this cottage in 1973
The Enchanted Cottage is right off the Freedom Trail and right around the corner from the Old North church, within walking distance to everything that you came to Boston to experience.
This cottage is not just a rental but a family home that has been part of my family for over 40 years. It is unique in that it is a single family home and not an apartment, it also has an outside patio and does not require you to climb two or three flights of stairs.
The Enchanted Cottage is a single family home with a wonderful patio, where you can sit out side and enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine,
where you can enjoy a conversation with the friendly residents of the area or the Boston visitors who always stop and ask about the cottage.
The cottage was charming and very unique. Extremely clean & well maintained. The homeowner's description was spot on accurate. The kitchen has great modern high-end appliances. The bathroom has a large walk-in beautifully designed shower. The upstairs loft contains a very comfortable queen-sized bed. Be mindful of the spiral staircase. The cottage was a delight to come home to and is just perfect for a couple. We especially enjoyed the patio for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The weather couldn't have been more perfect.
The homeowners were excellent hosts! They were just a phone call away, if we had any questions. They generously stocked the pantry with tons of great snacks, cold drinks and goodies. They even brought us eggs & bacon to add to our stocked frig. We ate most of the eggs & all of the bacon. Thank you very much! We enjoyed meeting some of the neighbors in our coming & going. The location was perfect! We enjoyed the short walks to the numerous restaurants & pastry shops every day. We especially enjoyed discovering the Freedom Trail which was 1 block over from the cottage. It was easy to find our way home, we just followed the Trail home.
We loved everything about the cottage and exploring Boston for the first time. The people are wonderful and the neighborhood felt very safe. We will definitely be contacting them again the next time we visit Boston.
They sure named this cottage correctly, It was extremely clean and comfortable, The bathroom is also well stocked with just about anything you would need, the shower was large and the kitchen is new and modern and has everything we needed to cook our meals, the pantry was stocked with all kinds of goodies from pasta to crackers. The fridge was also well stocked with water, soda, milk, cream and butter. The loft bed was amazing and very comfortable.
The home was very comfortable and the location was perfect, right off the Freedom Trail and easy walking distance to the Trains and all the delicious restaurants, shops and sites.
The patio was amazing, if we weren't sleeping, seeing the sites or trying to eat at every restaurant in the North End, we were sitting out on the patio, from drinking our morning coffee to sipping our evening wine, we got to know all the neighborhood residents who would stop by and recommend where to go and what to see.
Joe and Sue were wonderful hosts, they came down over the weekend to introduce themselves and answered all our questions,
We are definitely going to call them first the next time we come to Boston.
This cottage is definitely very appropriately named, "Enchanted Cottage". I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay here. It is very well located near the Freedom Trail in North End. It is also close to North Station so convenient access to both "T" system and commuter rail for easy day trips to other areas of Ma. Convenience stores, small shops nearby and laundry 1 block away as well as many Restaurants to enjoy nearby. The cottage itself is quite lovely starting with the flower filled front patio and continuing with the beautiful/comfortable furniture and top line appliances in kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked even having milk, eggs, condiments etc in frig and pantry with staples. The Keurig had full selection of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. There was a pretty box full of maps and brochures from Boston and surrounding area attractions which was very helpful for someone from West Coast who had never been to Boston. I felt equal parts as if at home and yet pampered guest!!! Thank you so much Joe and Sue for sharing your Enchanted Cottage with me. My daughter as well as my granddaughter when they were there also enjoyed the cottage.
The moment I stepped onto the little porch with all of the beautiful flowers I knew this was going to be a wonderful stay! Once I entered the cottage it only got better! The kitchen already had food! And the bathroom was supplied with everything I needed! My husband and I stayed here for three weeks and it was perfect. The cottage is located on a quiet street away from all the noise of the North End. But close enough to walk to all of the yummy restaurants. We enjoyed many evenings sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and meeting the neighbors. I would highly recommend staying in this cottage! it is Enchanting!
Amazing little house with every amenity in a perfect location! Joe and Sue go above and beyond, stocking the refrigerator and cabinets with groceries and snacks! They are extremely accommodating and have a box of maps and favorite restaurants in the area! They even provide top not notch bathroom products and a men's and women's kit if you forgot something. We would definitely stay here again, and are looking forward to it!!
My husband and I were on a business trip and had an awesome time staying at Boston's North End Enchanted Cottage! The location is perfect for walking to the North End where we ate great food and just enjoyed walking around for pleasure. There is a comforting feeling in the home, as it is SO cute and perfect for a couple. My husband and I ate on the front patio, yes I said patio, several times and the walking tours would almost always stop to ask us if we lived in the home. Our trip was great, but staying at this location made it awesome! Joe and Sue were super helpful as well. They were always willing to give us recommendations and things to do in our free time. We will definitely be back and can't wait for it!
Commuter rail to take you to Gloucester, Ipswich, Revere and Newburyport beaches, as well as trains and buses connecting all of Boston,
just a five minute walk from the cottage. And you can take your bikes on the train.
