Originally from southern Ohio, Matt is a self employed small business owner that maintains his client base in Cincinnati.
After travelling to Colorado to ski, white water kayak, and hike the 14er's in the area the cabin was purchased to be a relaxing place to return to after long and exciting days.
The views from the sun rooms, drinking coffee on the front porch as the sun rises over the Rockies, and the great times under the stars next to a warm fire.
The house was great, had everything we needed for the weekend. Close to Leadville, huge fire pit and room for the dogs to roam around. Matt was quick to respond and very easy to work. Would definitely recommend this place.
We needed a place for the Leadville T100 race and we found this gem! It is 2 miles outside of Leadville, a perfect location for quiet and rest before a 100 mile mountain trail run! Although outside Leadville, the house was close enough that it was incredibly easy to get out for dinner and sight seeing.
The cabin itself was extremely clean and VERY comfortable. The main living areas were large and the beds comfy. Matt, the owner, is very kind and extremely responsive - he truly values his guests and cabin.
Overall we LOVED this property and highly recommend it for anyone looking in the Leadville area.
We rented this cabin to get away from the intense Texas heat! The cabin is about 2 miles North of town and was very easy to access. We were very pleased with the cabin accommodations and would rent again in the future. Matt was very easy to work with and was quick to respond to any questions or concerns that we had.
We only had time for a quick get away and found this gem. Leadville is a SMALL mountain town but there are some very nice restaurants, a supermarket and Subway in town. The cabin is a short (5 minutes) drive to Leadville.
The best part of the cabin is it's location relative to some great national and state parks, awesome 4 wheeling and nice fishing. We spent both days at Turquoise Lake (about 20 minutes) where you can fish, boat and hike all day. If you want great river fishing there is public access to the Arkansas 5 minutes south of Leadville and even better fishing in Minturn (30-40 minutes). We stopped by Vail on the way back home (40-50 minutes from the cabin).
The cabin was clean and cozy and was perfect for our family of 4. There was woods straight out the back that my boys liked to hike. We saw two beautiful white mountain goats our first night there. There is a limited DVD collection in the cabin but who needs movies when you have the Milky Way right out the front door.
We rented this cabin while Jeeping the area. The pictures do not do it justice. The wood is absolutely beautiful and the decor fantastic.
Plenty of room, comfortable beds. Great location just outside of Leadville.
Everything you need for the kitchen, bedding and large tv if you care to watch tv.
The owner was more than helpful and in fact extremely helpful.
Just got back from spending a couple of days at the Trapper's Shack. It exceeded our expectations. I took my two sons and three nephews to Leadville to hike Mt. Elbert. The cabin was perfect. Plenty of places for 6 guys to spread out. Sunroom had a table for all six of us to eat breakfast before the big hike. Living room had nice leather couches for everyone to relax and watch a movie on the big screen. We had plenty of room to hang out on the large deck and play frisbee and hacky sack. The owner even had some dry wood for us to build a fire in the fire pit. This cabin is only a couple of miles outside of the town of Leadville so Safeway and other conveniences are just a few minutes away. We're so glad we found this secluded cabin instead of staying in town.
