About Mrs Cyntra Hinde
Marcus and Cyntra Hinde. We have lived here for 8 years. We have two children at university, two cocker spaniels and an array of sheep and chickens and two Alpacas who are mother and son.
Mrs Cyntra Hinde purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Mrs Cyntra Hinde chose Sutton-on-the-Forest
We love the privacy and feeling of space we get around here and, whilst being rural, we are right on the edge of the village with the good village pub a short stroll away and easy access into York by bus or car. We developed the barn in 2016/17 and it is located behind the main farm house. It is not overlooked in any way and looks over two paddocks containing all our rescue animals. The 7 acre wood was planted 15 years ago and is a great place to stroll in the morning or evening. You may even see one of the three deer, or a badger or owls that seem to like staying at night. You may also see buzzards in action.
What makes this Cottage unique
The luxury of a new barn conversion in a rural setting, with the benefits of loads of space to view the wildlife and the birds. Launde Barn is very peaceful without feeling or being totally cut off.

Fantastic, luxurious, relaxing stay near York
As a group of 8 ladies celebrating 50th birthdays we couldn’t have chosen a better accommodation. Referred to as a new luxury barn conversion near York was exactly right, everything about it said luxury from the bedding to the towels to the amazing meal provided for us by Cyntra on the first night to the advice on hiring a hot tub and even where to go for a fun filled and informative hour walking with Alpacas Cyntra had it covered to the highest of standards. We walked in the woods, played pool, enjoyed Prosecco on the lawn and relaxed in the hot tub. Both Cyntra and Markus couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating and with on site dogs, goats, sheep and alpacas it was the most idyllic spot. A taxi to York cost around £25 for 4 sharing or £44 for us in an 8 seater minibus. I can’t recommend this accommodation highly enough, we are already checking to see when we can visit again. Thank you for helping us make such wonderful memories x
Gorgeous barn, beautiful decor and a lovely setting. We are already planning our next visit.
Launde Hill Farm
We spent a lovely weekend here to celebrate my sister’s hen weekend. We were greeted by the host who was very welcoming. The house was lovely and in a perfect location (approximately 8 miles outside of York). Would highly recommend to all.
Beautiful property with terrific views and gardens
We really enjoyed our mid week stay
House had everything you needed and owner was very helpful
Absolutely beautiful conversion in fabulous location
This place is absolutely amazing. Beautiful and spacious barn with everything you could need. The owners are so friendly and helped with any queries we had. Baked us a beautiful cake on arrival and left a personalised message for us.
Could not fault this place. The village is lovely and easy to get into York - about £25 in a taxi
Will definitely return and recommend others to visit too
Launder Barn Stay in May
This is a beautiful property and a well designed house. Plenty of room for anything...from cooking meals to playing outside in the yard and petting the alpacas. Cyntra , the owner, could not have been more helpful. This is one of the very best vacation rentals we have had anywhere. Perfect!
The village of Sutton on the Forest is charming, with a popular pub, The Rose and Crown, just 5 minutes walk away, a Georgian stately home, Sutton Park, a beautiful 19 century church, an Italian restaurant, a newly opened whiskey/gin distillery and a large recreation ground with play areas, boules, football pitch and table tennis table.
The village has easy access by bus into York (for attractions such as the famous York Minster, National Railway Museum, the Yorvik Viking Centre, the Yorkshire Chocolate Story, the City Walls and Racecourse) or the nearby Georgian town of Easingwold.
The barn is ideally situated for access to the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors and other attractions such as Castle Howard, Eden Camp, the Yorkshire Air Museum, Ampleforth Abbey and School and the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby. Village shops, both community owned, are located in the nearby villages of Huby and Stillington.
