This is a comfortable Arts and Crafts house with many original features. It is the owner's home, not just a holiday let. It has 3 large double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a cloakroom, 2 sitting rooms with log fires, a large kitchen with all amenities, and separate dining room. There is gas central heating. There is a lawn and decking overlooking the sea. It is on the outskirts of the small harbour town of Girvan. The Railway station, supermarket and leisure centre are all within walking distance. The house is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the Golf courses of Ayrshire, whether the famous Turnberry, which is 4 miles away, Royal Troon, 40 minutes drive away, or the local Girvan course, which surrounds the house. Ayrshire Coastal path can be accessed just along the road, for walkers, and there are castles and coves, spectacular gardens and Galloway Forest park all within easy reach.

I am a single, retired psychologist, who spends my time walking my dog, painting and glass making in my studio over the garage. I may be living in the studio during your stay. It is quite separate from the house.

Why Ruth chose Girvan
This is an attractive home near some stunning coast and countryside. Girvan is quiet little harbour town, and the nearest cinema and night life, other than local pubs, is in Ayr, 20 miles away. Enjoy an away-from-it-all walking, cycling or golfing break.

Breathtaking views, perfect location!
Our family stayed two weeks in this beautiful home in Girvan. The house was flawlessly appointed with absolutely everything you could need. The owner went out of her way to make sure that we had the bed configurations we needed and prestocked the refrigerator with a few items that made our arrival easier. Having the owner nearby in her studio was a plus for us as not only was she able to assist with the occasional logistical question but was simply delightful to get to know! (But she was very cognizant of providing us with privacy during our stay). The local Girvan public golf course was great for our sons and we ran a tab with Maggie at the golf course’s restaurant. I sent my husband and four teen boys over for breakfast and a game of Snooker almost every morning. The town is all walkable but some of the nicer restaurants do require a reservation. Of particular interest to us was the central location of this rental. The historic Turnberry golf resort is just minutes up the road with two spectacular golf courses that rival Pebble Beach for views. We also ventured from Girvan to Hadrian’s Wall, the Isle of Arran and the Dark Sky Observatory. Glasgow is a day trip but Edinburgh is a bit further. The train station in Girvan is very convenient and we should have used it more and will when we return this Summer. I recommend this rental and owner very highly. Go! It’s beautiful, friendly, & relaxing.
