About Sarah Wolfman-Robichaud

Hello and welcome. My name is Sarah and this is my family's home away from home. I remember it well - my parents were semi-retired when they fell in love with San Miguel de Allende (SMA). The stories of festivals, music, food, and good people filled our evenings upon their return from their SMA travels. In 2007, they started going more to SMA from their home in Vancouver, BC where our extended family lives. When they were not in SMA, they missed it terribly, and found themselves returning many times each year. They loved it so much, they eventually bought a casa and later built a casita where you will find our family's art, warmth, and joy of SMA living. They wish they could have spent more time in SMA, but since the family and grandchildren were in the Pacific Northwest corner of Canada, they decided to share their home with others. My father took care of my mother, the love of his life, until she passed away in early 2017. Hearing the joy in their voices as they talked about this beautiful family home made our family want to continue to share it with others. My mother often described SMA as her "happy place" - may it become yours as well. I'm sure you will find our community of dear friends (Ariel - our Rental Manager and Jerry - our Property Manager) are communicative, warm, and happy to help. Welcome...

Why Sarah Wolfman-Robichaud chose Allende

We chose this location because it is in a diverse and safe, family neighborhood. We wanted a home that would be walking distance to everything that SMA has to offer. This house also attracted us because we could enjoy beautiful views from a large roof-top terrace, and have a elaborate garden with fountains on the main level.

Amazing property in an incredible spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our college-aged son stayed for one week at Santuario de la Paz in November 2017. The house is absolutely amazing! It is hard to tell from the photos just how quaint is the design of the house, with lots of nooks and crannies which lend unique character, but with every modern amenity that you may want. The kitchen is fabulous, and we also admired the great lighting everywhere, the fireplaces, the plumbing, the windows and doors are all top quality. The furniture, decor, and linens are luxurious and comfortable. You could easily have 6 people stay here and not feel crowded. With the backyard garden patio and the rooftop terrace, you can spread out if you want. We also enjoyed sitting in the sun on the balcony off the master bedroom. The distance from town is perfect. It is easy to walk to the central plaza, but you can catch taxis very easily back to the house for a few dollars. The people in San Miguel are friendly, and the prices overall were very reasonable for restaurants, etc. There are great taco stands within a few blocks of the house, and many restaurants within a 5 minute walk. There are a few mom and pop grocery stores within a couple of blocks, and a very large La Comer store less than one mile away. We generally cooked breakfast at the house and ate lunch and dinner out, although we could have easily made all of our meals at the house in the very well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed drinks and guacamole on the rooftop terrace most evenings at sunset, before venturing out for dinner. We loved being in the center of a Mexican neighborhood, where we chatted with neighbors and people walking by. It helped to know some Spanish, but I think you could get by without it. Bring some earplugs if you sleep lightly, as the roosters begin to crow around 5 am, which was a bit early for us to get up! There were guests for a few nights staying at the casita behind the main house, and we only noticed them coming and going as they walked by the windows in the breakfast room. We had a chance to tour the casita, and it is amazing as well. If I had a big group, this compound would be amazing for a group of 9 people. The reservation and check in/out process were smooth, and my deposit was promptly refunded after my stay. Jerry manages the property and is really nice, and the maids (Cynthia and Angela) and gardener are very sweet and helpful. We feel lucky to have found this place and hope to return soon!

Perfect property for our stay

  • 5 of 5

Manager Jerry, assistant Yvonne, and their cleaning and maintenance staff were responsive to our every question. Lucero cooked two evening meals for us which were delicious examples of local fare. The casa was beautifully designed and furnished with every possible item we could need in the kitchen. The garden patio was the perfect place for drinks before the fireplace and snacks before dinner. Couldn't have been happier with the sparkling clean property.

Wonderful Escape to San Miguel

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted by the property manager, Jerry - friendly and welcoming, who toured us through the house - what an amazing place to stay. The pictures can hardly do it justice - we especially loved the garden patio area. The housekeepers, Angela and Rosa, where exceptional and Rosa went out of her way to run down the street to help our lost tour guide find us. We've recommended this VRBO to friends who have already booked it. You will not be disappointed.

In 2013, Condé Nast magazine selected San Miguel de Allende as the #1 destination spot in the world! Since then, they have listed SMA as one of the ten best vacation destinations in the world. San Miguel is a cosmopolitan city with daily cultural events and first-class restaurants. Since San Miguel is a haven for artists, musicians and art-lovers, the beauty of the art everywhere. Music fills the streets; in the clubs, cafés, restaurants and in the Jardin (the center of town).

SMA is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend days wandering the cobblestone streets, browsing the shops filled with pottery, art and antiques. Many people come to SMA to learn Spanish.

The San Miguel weather is temperate, so you can enjoy a perfect blend of cobblestone streets filled with magnificent architecture, outdoor activities and cultural events.
