Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway for family from Oklahoma, Morganton, Waynesville, and Black Mountain to meet and have a lovely time together enjoying Lake Lure. We kayaked, fished, swam, floated, and enjoyed the sun on the deck. The house was well-stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies, and the washer-dryer unit was very handy. The kitchen is a bit cramped, but you know the old adage about "too many cooks..." so it all worked out well for us. We left with resolutions to do this again next year.

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this cottage for a girl trip! Had a fabulous time. The owners are wonderful to work with! The decks are exceptional - large with beautiful views, table and chairs, and lounge chairs to stretch out on. A special thing about this property is the easy access to the water for swimming. There is almost a beach. You can easily wade in the water and walk out to a gradual increase in depth. This is not always the case at Lake Lure. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. It is not fancy, but relaxed and functional. I definitely hope to return!

Wonderful Vacation. Great Location. Great Home.

  • 5 of 5

We visited the first week of June. The weather was mild and never rose above the mid 80s. The weather and the home made for a wonderful vacation. Our party consisted of my wife and two daughters, ages six and three. We spent most days on the deck or in the water around the boathouse. The view from the deck is spectacular and cove is wonderful for swimming. We took advantage of the kayak almost everyday. The home is a classic but well kept and everything works. The beds we used were comfortable. We only used the bunk bed room for our daughter`s dolls to sleep in. We cooked daily and found the kitchen clean and well equipped. We used the grill one night and found it very clean. We collected enough sticks and fallen branches to use the fire pit our last night to make s`mores. A few neighbors approached knowing that we were renters. They were very congenial and did not smother us. All things considered we had a wonderful time and this home is on the top of our list when we decide to return.

Wonderful home and great location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, Lake Lure home. The home was just as pictured and the property was beautiful. We enjoyed time on the deck where we were embraced by the mountains all around. The pictures cannot fully capture the beauty. We took turns with the kayak and a local goose swam along with us. The location is close to many fun things to do. We visited nearby Chimney Rock and Bat Cave for shopping and sight seeing. We visited The Light Center on Black Mountain. We also drove a little further to Asheville for shopping and events. We shopped for groceries at the nearby Ingles, which is a very nice store. The lake was too cold for swimming during our stay, but we all agreed we would love to return during the summer to enjoy time in the water. On our last night, we watched Dirty Dancing (the tape was one of several available at the home) in honor of the movie being partially filmed at Lake Lure. It was a hoot and my daughters' first time to see the movie. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Cozy house on the lake.

  • 4 of 5

House and property were wonderful. Very relaxing. The steps were a little difficult for older folks while carrying so much gear down and back up. I felt a lot of love and family memories from the house. A great place to be.
