Cozy Basecamp or Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Just rustic enough to unplug but with all the amenities to be comfy. Community is fun and this unit has just enough trees and distance from road to feel fairly private. Hot tub is tucked away in back, and nice, we checked/adjusted temp daily to keep it hot. Deck and fire pit are fenced, not bulletproof but worked great for our older pitty. Spent one day around the complex, fun setup, sports equipment (bring your own tennis balls), awesome river trail, and a tasty pizza & bar you can walk to. Spent other days hiking local trails and then recovering in the tub. So perfect, loved our stay and are excited to visit again during the winter!!

Only reason it's not a 5 star for us was lights and the dish soap. Soap has a chemical 'flavor' to it that you could taste on dishes. Bring your own! Also not sure if the cute tub and deck lights work but we couldn't get them to turn on. Some more instructions/info for the unit would be helpful.

And someone please tell us what the letters over the couch spell out. Lol, someone rearranged them and we were trying to unscramble it the whole time :D

Owner's Response: Hi Tori: Thank you for the great review for funky Cabin #73! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and are happy to hear that you had an opportunity to enjoy the outdoor hot tub while you were there. The lighting could probably be a bit better, and we will mention that to the property owners. As for the dish soap, it appears that someone mixed something with it...perhaps a different brand of dish soap, so we just threw it out and replaced it. Remember; if you run into any questions or issues during your stay, we are just a phone call away. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next trip to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan

Perfect weekend stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a little rustic which was perfect for the setting. It was clean and had everything we for the time we were there. The king size bed was very comfortable and the pillows were pretty good as well. A great use of limited space downstairs with the refrigerator in the spare bedroom which would be very handy while watching a movie. We were there for a family wedding at the Excelsior camp ground which was just down the road and didn't have to drive too far. We wished we could have stayed an extra day to explore the local attractions. Will book there again if we make our way to Glacier again. Is a perfect cabin for both Summer and Winter activities. The local Chair Nine Bar across the street was especially handy for getting a delicious lunch the first day and a pizza to go for when we got back home. The Wake & Bakery was delicious as well! it's a beautiful location and we would definitely recommend staying here.

This cabin is fine

  • 3 of 5

This place worked for what we needed: a place to sleep mostly, with a hot tub. It isn’t the cleanest or nicest, but it’s generally fine.

We were disappointed with a few things though: first, there was no dish soap. While we didn’t cook on this trip, had we shown up Friday to cook a meal, it would have been really inconvenient to not be able to wash the dishes. Second, there is no kindling or paper to start a fire with. Last, there is no remote for the television, so you can’t control the volume.

I would also recommend keeping the hot tub a few degrees warmer. It was at 99 when we arrived, so we couldn’t take a hot tub on Friday.

Owner's Response: Hi Nicholas: Thank you for your review for rustic Cabin #73! While we do take exception to your comments regarding the cleanliness of the cabin, not everyone may think that this rustic cabin is the nicest for their particular experience. A lot depends upon what you're seeking. If you are seeking a rustic cabin experience, this cabin provides that and has consistently received very good reviews via various platforms. If, on the other hand, you're buying in on the cheap price but expecting luxurious accommodations, then this cabin probably isn't for you. You mentioned that you didn't cook, but couldn't find the dish soap. Had you of cooked, you likely would have utilized the refrigerator, at which point you would have undoubtedly seen the full container of dish soap, along with trash/garbage bags, and other cleaning supplies that are provided for Guest use. An ample supply of firewood is provided along with a hatchet in order to chop kindling as Guests so desire. You are correct in that the 70's vintage TV doesn't have a remote. You simply have to get up, walk over to the TV, and adjust accordingly. It should also be pointed out here that there is no local programming nor cable access available in our wooded mountain area, so you'll want to bring along some movies...or they can be rented locally. Per local Heath Department regulations, the hot tub is set to operate at between 99 and 102 degrees. To turn up the temp, you simply turn the appropriate dial on the hot tub. It generally only takes about an hour or so for the tub to reach the temperature of your choice (within limitations). Finally; whenever a question arises during your stay, the cabin is equipped with a land line (cell phones don't work up here) and we are just a phone call away. Happy trails, Dan

Great stay, four leg friendly!

  • 4 of 5

Great place for my me, my girlfriend, and our 4 legged companions. The place was overall even better than that showed in the pictures. The hot tub after a long day on the slopes was a huge plus. Although it was very difficult trying to find the switch to turn on the lights to the hotub, after 2 hours of searching we found out the fuses were blown. More spare fuses on site recommended. The king temperapedic bed was amazing, pillows were not as great. Kitchen supplies were adequate. Provided an overall cozy environment with a good bar across the street. We will definitely stay here again,(with our own pillows).

great get away!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very clean and welcoming. Love the decor! (but could have done without the animal parts) ;) Bed was comfy and the hot tub was amazing! Would have liked to have had the porch light on at least upon arrival as it was very dark when we got there. Over all we loved it!

Owner's Response: Hi Nancy: Thank you for the great review for rustic Cabin #73! We are very happy to hear that you had an enjoyable stay , and will certainly pass your kudos along to our housekeeping staff! This cabin is definitely eclectic, so there is something for everyone, but not necessarily everything for everyone. Regarding the porch light; I actually turned it on at the same time that turned on the 2nd floor balcony lights, the ceiling fan, and turned-up the heat in preparation for your arrival, so the bulb must have burned out sometime between the time that I concierged the cabin and the time of your arrival. In this regard, we do prefer that we be contacted whenever an issue occurs, as opposed to our Guests taking it upon themselves to perform repairs/replacements to our Client's homes. In this regard, our phones are available until late evening for this purpose. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to seeing you again the next time that your travel plans bring you back to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan

Peaceful snowboarding retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time! The cabin was incredibly charming and cozy. Everything we needed was provided, except for a lighter or matches to start a fire. Maybe we didn't look hard enough? It snowed all weekend up at Baker and coming back to a warm fire and the hot tub (adorned with Christmas lights) made it a weekend to remember❄️
