Disappointing for the price
We stayed here for a short weekend get-away and for the cost of the rental it was very disappointing.
The grill we planned on using and bought charcoal for was rusty and falling apart. The cabin was cute, but old and in need of updating. The bathrooms were dirty and the rugs were old and dirty. The futon was dirty. Oh, and the worst part of it was that a mouse got stuck on a sticky trap while we were sleeping and my fiancé had to put it out of its misery. We also found a moldy cup of hot chocolate in the microwave, so it's disappointing to have to pay such a large cleaning fee for mediocre cleaning.
We chose this place because it was pet friendly, but the people who run the place obviously do not encourage people to clean up after their dogs because there was dog poop everywhere. (For the record, we did pick up after our dogs.) Also, their roads are in desperate need of gravel. It was so muddy. Luckily we drove our 4wd truck, or we would have gotten stuck.
We are not resort-type people. We prefer the rustic, quiet woods setting, but for how expensive it was to stay here I feel it was definitely not worth the price. We won't be staying here again.
Thank you for the informative review. Unfortunate to hear there were many issues with this 110 year old Historic Cabin at Perry Mansfield. Not only do we have other cabins at that property we have 175 others homes, condos and town homes in Steamboat Springs. With a good amount being pet friendly. Next time you come stay in Steamboat please think of us. We strive to give our guests units that suit your needs. I am sure we have something that would fit better for you two and your dog.
This was a nice rustic cabin, but it is pretty rough around the edges. On night one we planned on grilling the first night and went to the store to get charcoal to use the weber grill. Upon inspection of the grill it was falling apart, no ash catching tray under the grill and the grill grating was all rusted. We ended up cooking out bratwurst in a pan on the stovetop. The next morning we woke up to a live mouse stuck on one of those glue traps in the kitchen, which did not please my fiancé. I ended up having to take the mouse outside and put it out of its misery.
This place allows dogs which was great and one of the reasons why we chose to stay here, however they should do more to encourage others to pick up after their dogs. When walking our dogs around the roads here, there was dog poop everywhere.
One last thing is I am glad we took the truck for this trip. We were going to take our front wheel drive car, but it was supposed to snow the morning we planned on leaving, if we had a car, we would have been stuck. There is no gravel on the roads and with the warmer temps, everything was very muddy. Had to use 4 wheel drive a couple of times to get into and pull out of the parking for this cabin.
Overall, for the price, I was not impressed. Next time I will just stay at a hotel in town that allows dogs.

Sweet little cabin in quiet Perry-Mansfield
What a sweet little hideaway. We built a fire in the wood stove and slept like babies in this quiet oasis. Neighborly dogs greeted us and led our car to the cabin on this beautiful campus.
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are so thrilled to have hosted you on your stay in Steamboat and look forward to having you stay with us again!
Very enjoyable. We have stayed at this cabin a couple of times before and just love it. Everything worked well this time.

Nice place but... Bed Bugs...
The location of this cabin is amazing! However, it seems that they have been having a bed bug problem. Retreatia allowed us to look at other cabins on the property and some of them also showed signs of bed bugs. We did finally find one that didn't. It looks like they've been trying to combat the problem with plastic bed bug covers but a lot of the covers had holes and rips. Many of the mattresses were also on the old side.
Thank you for your review. The information you left was very helpful. As we strive to make sure all of our guests have an enjoyable stay. We do offer 175 different units in Steamboat. We look forward to hosting you again when you come to town.
