Overview

About the property

One Bedroom & a sleeper sofa, one bathroom, Lake Superior views, private setting

You will love this classic cottage as it resonates charm, character and coziness. Sit out on the deck and enjoy the shimmering waters of Lake Superior, walk the quiet gravel road, build a toasty fire in the stone fireplace, finish that book you haven't had time to read, take guilt-free naps and listen to the waves. Located in Lutsen, MN, the heart of the North Shore, this cottage sits across the road from Lake Superior. Secluded, peaceful and accommodating. The cottage does not have a TV but it does have a docking stereo for your iPhone or iPod and wi-fi if you need to stream on your laptop. Take a stroll up the drive and visit us in the gallery. Take advantage of the free book exchange, too. One bedroom sleeps two, sofa sleeper sleeps one or two and your furry four legged family member is welcome, too. We are one of very few vacation rentals that are dog-friendly ! There is a full kitchen stocked with all you would need to cook meals, brew your morning coffee or tea and grill out on the Webber. Bring your charcoal and lighter fluid if you're a fan of outdoor cooking. There is a 3/4 bath that is clean and classic. This small 3-cottage resort is very close to Cascade State Park, the new bike trail, the town of Grand Marais (just voted the "Coolest Small Town in America"). You'll be close to grocery stores, liquor stores, shopping, churches, fishing lakes, hiking trails....all the North Shore has to offer is nearby.

About Linda Garrity

My daughter and I moved up to the North Shore about 8 years ago to escape the chaos of the city life. We purchased Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery & Cottages in December of 2014 and have been improving, updating and enjoying the small gallery & resort thoroughly. I also have been selling real estate and have a home improvement/design business that both tie in well with this lifestyle.

Linda Garrity purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Linda Garrity chose Lutsen

Dog friendly, affordable and charming as can be!! You can't beat the location, the privacy and comforts.

What makes this cottage unique

Private cottage on a quiet gravel road. Wake up, walk your dog and listen to the waves roll in. Take a star-gazing stroll in the cool, calm evenings after a home-cooked meal. The cobblestone woodburning fireplace is cozy as can be.

Wonderful experience and will return

  • 5 of 5

Pros: This charming cabin had a very comfortable bed, a shower that warmed quickly with nice water pressure, and plentiful excellent-quality wood to build nightly fires. The furnace also heated quickly. I did a lot of cooking over my stay and the kitchen had every utensil I needed. The bathroom had high quality soaps and lotions to use as well as a hair dryer. The VRBO description reported that there is no WiFi in the cabin . . but there was! This cabin is dog-friendly but there was not evidence to suggest that many dogs have stayed there. This is an adorable cabin and I hope to return frequently. Also, Olive thanks you for the home-made doggie treats, how thoughtful.

Cons: I slipped on some ice within 30 seconds of my arrival. My knee hit a metal grate which came with lots of blood. It was extremely painful and an unpleasant arrival. My body is still aching. So be careful if it's an icy time of year! Also, I didn't get a chance to check out the gallery due to slightly limited hours due to off-season but will definitely the next visit!

Thank you for everything. You have a wonderful thing going up there. Makes me want to move from the city.

Missing The Northshore Already!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend get away. The cabin was perfectly cozy in its layout and beautiful fireplace. Having access to WiFi was great for streaming the local community radio station, WTIP. And just a 15 minute ride to Grand Marias with only a few minutes from the gorgeous Cascade River trails. Our old dog loved being able to lounge around on the deck in view from the living room and the road was quiet enough to take a star-lit stroll upon. We will definitely be returning!

Cozy, cute and gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was very clean, homey and comfortable. The bed was nice and firm, lots of extra blankets if needed. Fireplace worked great, it was super having a fire. The cabin had all the kitchen equipment needed, lots of books and games if you would want and a great view. Best of all, centrally located to hiking and skiing, yet really peaceful and felt very private. I'll be back in summer!
