Highland Wildlife Cottage on remote Ardnamurchan Coast On Loch Sunart
About Jane G
Hi We have now moved permanently to Ardnamurchan after many years in Lancashire. We began our Ardnamurchan affair over 20 years ago and are now living the dream ! We are truly passionate and so enthusiastic of everything the peninsula has to offer, mainly this overwhelming feeling of contentment and that everything is so spiritual and close to nature. Our homes ensure that you get the most from your time here. Each one has its own unique attributes and both enjoy wildlife like you will not witness anywhere else in the UK from our Family of Pine marten to elusive sightings of the Scottish Wildcat. Eagles and birds like no where else and Otter, porpoise and dolphins playing in the Loch. Heron Island in Glenborrodale Bay where all the herons gather for their feasts !
Jane G purchased this Cottage in 2015

Pine marten paradise.
Had a fab week in very nice accommodation. The pine martens were very confiding and I have wonderful photos as a result. Jane and her husband who manage the property were marvellous.
Excellent wildlife in the garden. Excellent location and everything you need in the cottage.
Well presented property - ideal for wildlife wat hing and exploring the local area
Set in the heart of the Ardnamurchan peninsula with views across the mountains and the shores of Loch Sunart at the end of the driveway. Amazing variety of bird life in the garden and regular visits from the local pine martens and deer. The RSPB reserve at Glenborradale, Adelphi Whisky Distillery, Natural History Centre tea rooms are within walking distance. Great base for the sights - the lighthouse, Sanna Bay, Mull ferry, Fort William and the Jacobean railway.
The cottage itself is nicely decorated and had almost everything that we needed.
Our one small criticism was the bathroom facilities - the property has one bath with a hand held shower attachment but would benefit from an additional shower cubicle especially if all six bed spaces were occupied
Fabulous location, lovely cottage and wonderful wildlife
We had a wonderful holiday in the delightful Old Sawmill, located by the beautiful Loch Sunart in Glenborrodale. The cottage was immaculate with everything you would need and more. The beautiful garden was full of wildlife, the birds were amazing including redpoll, yellow hammer, siskins and many more and deer in the field next door. The highlight, although there were many, was the regular evening visits (and in the daylight) by the fabulous Pine Martens, fantastic!
The cottage is situated in a great postion for visiting many of the sites on Ardnamurchen, we enjoyed many walks, details of which were provided at the cottage.
Jane and Dave were super hosts, they met us at the cottage and made us feel very welcome, they also left a delicious hamper.!
We would highly recommend The Old Sawmill, it has everything!
Wonderful house, stunning location.
We were lucky enough to spend a week here in this lovely house, in a superb setting with views of Loch Sunart. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Jane and her son. The house was equally warm and inviting, with a roaring fire already on the go. Jane leaves plenty of wood and firefighters for your use during the week. It is extremely clean and well appointed, having everything you might need. Plus lovely touches of toiletries in the rooms and a great Welcome Pack. The house is just off the single track road through the Peninsula, so there is barely any road noise. It is a large property with a choice of rooms, depending on your needs. The beds are very comfortable and we slept very well. It is wonderfully peaceful, with an amazing array of wildlife to watch through the front and rear windows of the property. Our favorite visitor were the Pine Martens, who visited each evening at dusk for their peanut butter sandwiches. So buy some before you arrive!
There is some phone signal at the house, considering it’s remotness, but there is a landline should you require it. Again there is internet, which was sufficiently fast enough. The WiFi worked well throughout the house.
We would recommend the food at the Salen Hotel and the Strontian Hotel. There are a few small shops dotted around the Peninsula but I’d advise a ‘big shop’ either before arriving or soon thereafter.
Thank you for your kind words and we are so glad that you obviously enjoyed your stay with us .We would love to welcome you & your lovely family again sometime. Thanks again x
