This Breton gîte for two, which can also accommodate a baby/small child, is a fully restored farmworker's cottage in the grounds of La Grande Tournicotière. It is completely independent having its own entrance, secure parking and private walled garden. However, the owners, Anne and Stuart, are nearby to offer help and advice should this be needed.
The gîte is on one level, has double glazing and electric heating throughout and comprises:-
Separate large and airy kitchen/diner with the kitchen exiting to the garden and courtyard and the dining area with table and chairs, (high chair provided) overlooking the private garden. Fully equipped with full sized gas cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer section, washing machine, cafetière, kettle, toaster, iron, etc.. The table linen, napkins and teatowels are changed weekly.
The salon has been sympathetically restored keeping its original chestnut beams and granite wall with lime mortaring. It now hosts a 9kw Godin woodburner, with logs provided just in case the evenings turn chilly! The fire will always be made up for your arrival should this be necessary. There is a television with DVD player and although there are only French terrestial channels, there is an ample selection of English and French DVDs, plus books to read and tourist information for organising visits to the surrounding area.
The double bedroom can also accommodate a travel cot for baby and is complete with armoire, bedside tables and lights, mirror, chest and shelves, etc.. The bed is made up for your arrival with a choice of heavy/light duvet, French and English pillows, sheets, cover and quilt and the linen is changed weekly.
The small bathroom is tiled throughout with small bath, overhead shower, washbasin, lavatory, heated towel rail and all towels are provided; 2 bath towels, 3 hand towels, bath mat and 2 dressing gowns; again all changed weekly.
The private gîte garden has two terraces; one in the shade with table and chairs and barbeque and one in the sun again with table and chairs and a parasol. The walled garden is laid to lawn with flowers and shrubs but has its own gate leading to the larger gardens at La Grande Tournicotière. Here one can relax on the many benches or wander around enjoying the tranquility with only the birdsong to disrupt the solitude. Stuart's potager provides an abundance of fruit and vegetables in season for you to pick and enjoy!
Since January 2018 Fougères Agglomération has decreed that we have to collect a Tourist Tax (La Taxe Locale de Séjour) and this has to be paid at the beginning of the holiday; 0,50 per person per night.
