About Jerry & Johanna Shaffer
Jerry & Jo Shaffer. We met 25 years ago in Grand Haven Michigan. Our love of the out doors and traveling brought us to Manistee 15 years ago. It was quite a change from the hustle and bustle we were used to.
Jerry & Johanna Shaffer purchased this Lodge in 1995
Why Jerry & Johanna Shaffer chose Brown
When we saw the Lodge overlooking the pond, we knew we had to have it. We've had many family reunion's here ourselves. Memories we will never forget. We try to keep our prices reasonable so other families can experience the same thing.
What makes this Lodge unique
The Lodge offers family bonding. It is also great for fishing, golfing, car and motorcycle groups. Before we moved up here, Jerry and I used to come by ourselves, which is also very relaxing and enjoyable for couples. Mornings are so serene, and most of the time you'll catch deer or wild turkey hanging out by the pond. Just down the road is a campground on the river where you can launch your boat for a small fee. They also have a small store for necessities.

Kevin we are so glad that you enjoyed our Lodge, and you are welcome to come and stay anytime.
Great property and cottage! We had a great time. We were concerned with the open sleeping bunks at first. But those that wanted to stay up could go on heated porch area while others went to sleep. It was fabulous! The only down side was no oven!
Good views. Nice overall cabin for the price.
Nice little area. Rained a lot, but the pool table and space inside was great.
Ideal for a group of guys that are going fishing or huntingg
Very comfortable stay through it lacks privacy.
The kitchen is setup to prepare a lot of food very quickly.
Girl's Weekend, Better than expected
I rented the cabin for a girl's weekend and we were impressed. Everything was better than expected from the pictures and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. We rented tubes from Matson's campground down the road and went tubing on the Big Manistee. We enjoyed using the rowboat on the pond and campfires in the evenings. The power went out our last night around 11pm while we were around the campfire. Jerry and Jo were very thoughtful and brought over candles. We all agreed that we would rent this cabin again for a large get together.
Peaceful and cozy
Awesome place, lots of space to relax, sleeped 10 Guys perfectly. Would highly recommend
Manistee is a charming Victorian city. Visit the museum on beautiful river street featuring the lumber days era during the late 1800's. Enjoy the fourth of July celebration, and many summer festivals. Shop river street downtown Manistee. There is a fitness center in town for your enjoyment. Try your luck at Little River Casino. Hang out at one of the three beaches: Douglas park on Lake Michigan, Fifth Avenue beach on Lake Michigan, and Man Made Lake. Enjoy one of the local golf ranges. All just 15 minutes away. Take a scenic drive up M-22 to Onekama, Frankfort and Empire. Hike or bike the national forest just outside the lodge door.
