About Richard Stone
We moved to Puebla in 1996 and purchased this home. Before moving in we totally renovated it from top to bottom. It had been our full time home and now that we moved back to the U.S. decided to keep it to enjoy for vacations.
Richard Stone purchased this House in 1996
Why Richard Stone chose La Paz
Modern, large, bright and comfortable. Very well located. An oasis within the city.Excellent access to the rest of the city. Many things to do in the neighborhood as well. My favorite moment in my own home is relaxing on the shady front patio in the late afternoon enjoying the cool breeze, green grass, garden and large shade tree.
What makes this House unique
Well located not far from downtown yet quiet. Many restaurants and services within blocks of home.

Lovely home in an excellent location
We loved our stay in Richard's Puebla home. The only reason we're giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was difficult to sleep at night until we bought a fan. There aren't any window screens, and at this time of year (rainy season) there were a lot of mosquitoes at night.
The home is very spacious and comfortable, with a front garden, rear courtyard, interior atrium, two family rooms, fully stocked kitchen, lots of bathrooms, and more. There was a washer and dryer for our use as well, and we appreciated leaving for our next stop with clean clothes. We were two adult couples and one infant and had more than ample space; the baby could have slept in our room, and the extra bedroom could sleep three children or adults in single beds.
Sleep quality 6/10 (heat and mosquitoes due to the time of year)
Rooms 8/10 (could use fans in each room)
Service 10/10 (Richard was extremely accommodating and very communicative; I wrote him multiple emails, and called him several times for help with airport transfer and when our flights were delayed, and he was always kind and helpful.)
Value 9/10 (Only because we had more space than we really needed. If we'd been travelling with a third couple or several children, this would have been an excellent value.)
Location 8/10 (It's a nice, quiet neighborhood, with good local restaurants and some excellent ones a 15-20 minute walk away. It's a little far to walk downtown comfortably, though we did it twice. Taxis downtown are ~70 pesos [at the time of writing, ~$5 USD].)
In all, we were very pleased with our stay, and highly recommend this property.
Thank you so much for having been our first VRBO guests and for your review.
For future guests, you might like to know...
We recently returned to the US, and transitioned from a B&B to a vacation rental. That review was from our very first guest as a vacation rental. We have owned the house for about 20 years of which we lived in it for 10 years.
Unfortunately, "mosquitos" weren't covered in my User Manual and orientation on the phone regarding use of the house (when I ran the B&B I was there to tell them in person). Generally, homes in Puebla don't have screens and the solution is ecological; in the rainy season, the daytime temps are around 75 to 80, the windows are left open to keep it comfortable (houses in this part of the country don't have heating or AC), then, we close the windows a little before sunset since the mosquitos come out at sunset (we may close the windows earlier if it starts raining- rains are always in late afternoon or at night) , and with the rain the outside temps and the roof of the house cool down and then the inside temperature remains comfortable even with the windows closed. Btw, since humidity is some where around 40%, it never feels neither dry nor humid, so even at 80 degrees it is comfortable inside homes.
Also, we do have some fans and we have instructed our housekeeper to keep them available for guest use.
Downtown Puebla: We are just a 10 minute taxi ride, which costs less than US$ 4.00, from Puebla´s main plaza. Must sees are the plaza and its covered walkways, the cathedral and the rooftop of the Amparo Museo.
We are just two blocks from the expressway to Cholula. Take an inexpensive bus or taxi to enjoy the pyramid, main plaza and market where you can enjoy a famous cemita sandwich.
