Incredible experience!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at the villa! It was beautiful and the views were simply breathtaking. We traveled with our 2 young children who loved the pool. There were locations (particularly the stairs by the pool) where we had to be very careful with our 3 year old as he could easily fall and get hurt. If you want to explore wineries or sienna, I highly recommend calling Tommaso Ciliberti, a private driver in the area. (+39) 338 306 0076

We also enjoyed having 2 meals cooked for us by Ewa, the groundskeeper. She was a fabulous cook and we loved eating in the villa.

We traveled with a few people who struggled walking down the hill (it is not difficult for an average person) so it is good to know that you can call a cab and it will pick you up directly in front of the villa!

I highly recommend staying here! It worked for us and we ranged in ages of 3 - 70!

The management company was very responsive and easy to get a hold of.

Stunning Location Spacious Comfortable Quietude

  • 5 of 5

This villa is exceptional in many ways. As you have seen via the owner’s photos... the vistas of Florence are stunning. This is true whether you are on the upper pool deck, main house level living room & terrace or three bedrooms. The floor to ceiling windows in the living room, bedrooms and dining area kept us mindful of this amazing location throughout our stay. Each morning Eva’s (housekeeper) coffee and continental breakfast was quietly enjoyed with a cool whisper of breeze on the terrace. “This place is amazing” or words to that effect were often overheard among the five couples who shared the villa.

The two bedrooms in the “Limonaia” are rather tight and not air conditioned, however, even with 94 degree F days these 2 rooms remained reasonably cool and honestly the “living” areas of the villa i.e. pool deck, living room and front terrace are so comfortable and spectacular that when awake that is where we wanted to be.

The kitchen is nicely equipped and chef Elisa Berghi (see contact info in the owner’s handbook) provided a wonderful cooking lesson that besides being a terrific meal, taught each of us who participated something new to take home to friends and family. Highly recommended!

The villa is situated at about 950’ elevation overlooking Florence 165’ elevation and as noted a convenient bus station is located a short 10 minute walk away and made access to Florence very easy. There is a significant buffer of olive trees around the villa that when coupled with the steep hillside terrain embellishes the spacious comfortable quietude enjoyed by all. Cooling off in the pool in the late afternoon was a great way to transition into an evening meal. Certainly worth a return visit!

Outstanding VIEWS!

  • 5 of 5

Upon arriving at the Villa we were all so overwhelmed by the views. No matter which level you stood, which window you looked out - the views were just breathtaking. The images of Villa Le Scallette online do not even come close to the real thing! The villa, it's grounds and the views are nothing short of amazing. Fiesole is a quaint 'suburb' just 15 - 20 minutes from the center of Florence. The elevation makes for a truly breathtaking view of Florence that can be enjoyed from the many terraces of the multi level villa. We decided to cut our touring short one day just so we could enjoy the villa during the day. We sat on the pool level which is actually the roof of the villa. For the sunset, we moved to the main level terrace to enjoy our wine. Everything from the grocery store to some fantastic restaurants are just a 7 minute walk away. *(The walk is up and down contain some steep elevations that may be challenging to some).

Eva, the housekeeper of the villa made our beds each day, did our wash one day, and changed the towels. She also made sure we had breakfast and coffee each morning. Although we couldn't speak to her, she speaks Polish and Italian - luckily for the translating app on our phones we were able to communicate. Both Eva and her husband live on the property and he is the caretaker of the grounds. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the lovely Antonella who is the owner's representative. She gave us all the details of the villa, showed us around and explained everything to us.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much at Villa Le Scalette and it truly made our visit to Florence very memorable.

Amazing setting for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved staying at this villa! It’s been a surprisingly amazing place for us to enjoy our time together, while being close to Florence.

We spent most of our days outside, the rooftop swimming pool was our favorite spot to relax and we had breakfast and dinner on the terrace every day, enjoying the breathtaking views over Florence.

We explored Fiesole, which is a lovely town with beautiful historic monuments, lots of cafes and really nice restaurants and went down the hill to Florence several times (which was unexpectedly very easy!).

Coming back to this peaceful paradise at the end of the day was such a treat! We loved every minute of our stay, thank you so much for hosting us and I will definitely be recommending this villa to anyone who wants to visit Florence!

A wonderful way to savor Florence

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated my wife's birthday with friends at the Villa in late September. The experience was all we had hoped for. The manager Antonella is a genius at anticipating all the details that made our stay so comfortable. And housekeeper Ava and her husband were so helpful. Ava prepared a superb dinner for us to enjoy our last night at the villa. It all began with our gracious owner/host making certain our questions and concerns were addressed. We would return every year if it could work out.

Amazing house, we loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing in so many ways. First, it's an architectural treasure... Designed by the same man who designed the Florence train station, it is literally an important work of art. It is gorgeous, huge, and we enjoyed it immensely. The pictures actually don't do it justice. From the first minute we walked down the driveway to see the swimming pool on the rooftop, we were continually stunned by the views from almost every area of the house. The pool was refreshing, and we spent more than one day laying there sleeping and resting up while looking out over Florence.

Fiesole, where it's located, is a lovely, quaint town, and there was a lot to do there without ever even going into Florence. There were also a lot of good restaurants in the Fiesole Piazza, and the local market was easy to find. The bus into Florence was very easy to use, and we went there at least every other day while we were there.

Just a note for others to consider... my family and I were just a little uncomfortable with having a housekeeper in the house with us. She did make coffee and toast in the morning which was nice, and she's a very sweet lovely person. I trusted her with our things and didn't worry she would take anything. But she and her husband could literally pop up anywhere in the house or the pool at any time (except the bedrooms, which she did not enter when the doors were closed), depending on what they were doing while cleaning and maintaining the house. In that regard, this house is a little bit more like a hotel with on-site staff. Some people may like it and having them that available, and some may not.

Also, make sure you are comfortable with taking care of a fine, older house such as this. There are lovely wood floors and fine furniture everywhere. Coasters have to be used, and wet floors dried off. This house may have actually been borderline too nice for my family, as we are not used to the finer things in life. :-) But we sure as heck enjoyed it while we were there!

I do hope we can return in the future, it was a wonderful place.
