About John Frink

Angela and John fell in love with the location and the view this property has, while visiting friends in Columbine. The cabin was a perfect size for family and friends. They have had years of enjoyment and memories.

John Frink purchased this cabin in 2003

Why John Frink chose Northwest

We bought this home because of our love for the Rocky Mountains and because we love spending time as a family. With so many activities readily accessible from this location The family always has something fun to do together. There is access to: Rocky Mountain National Park, Columbine Lake, Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Resevoir, and Lake Granby, all within a short walking or driving distance. Also the Village of Grand Lake is a short drive away and provides strolling through town shopping, or watching the sail boats float and the speed boats fly across Grand Lake, or play in the water at the swim beach. Rent a boat or paddle boat, fish, kayak, or water ski; or you might just cruze the lake sightseeing the mountains that encircle the lakes. Drive over Trail Ridge Road, the US's highest continuous paved road, to Estes Park for more shopping and sight seeing. Stop at the top visitor center for amazing mountain top views from above timberline at 12,000 feet, a quick lunch, and souvenirs. Hike out to various points along the way for breathtaking views of the region's valleys, glaciers, and mountains. Make sure you bring EXTRA cameras and camera rolls because this is some of the most beautiful country in the US and you won't want to forget this! Also, make sure to bring clothes for all types of weather because the mountains offer all types of seasons! Horse rentals available for an equestrian experience or hay ride at nearby Winding River Resort.

What makes this cabin unique

The view speaks for itself. When you wake up in the morning the mountains seem to make everything right in the world. It is a true log home and very spacious.

Moose Cabin

  • 4 of 5

It was exactly as described in the promotional material. We had my wife and I plus our two children and their families (7 children under 6). The stairs were a bit of a challenge, but we handled it well.

Its location was great. At the edge of RMNP and close to town.

There was a constant order of raw gasoline coming from the locked garage that made the first level difficult to use. When we ran the ventilation system (there is no A/C, but none was really needed) it spread the odor throughout the house.

Moose Cabin Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Moose Cabin was the perfect setting for our family as we celebrated our son's wedding at the Winding River Ranch. This property is so beautiful and comfortable. Our guests were even able to see a moose on the property. We will definitely return when we can. Thank You to the Owners for making this a weekend to remember and making it very simple to rent. The property is conveniently located to all of the attractions in Grand Lake and has a beautiful view on Columbine Lake. Loved it !

Amazing house and neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Perfect spot for a trip with family and/or friends. The house is exactly as described by John, with a rustic yet modern feel, great views, and wonderful neighborhood. House has everything you need, including comfortable beds, grill tools, kitchen items, etc... Highlights of our time included relaxing on the big deck at all points during the day/night and taking walks around the peaceful Lake Columbine (1.2mi circle). We will be back!

Ah the Great Outdoors.........

  • 4 of 5

We rented moose cabin for the week over the 4th of July holiday. Two families.........4 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of room to spare.

We were greeted by an enormous bull moose just lying down in our backyard on the first night. And saw several more as the week went by. The cabin is very spacious and well acquainted. The location is convenient to Columbine Lake (short walk) and downtown Grand Lake (10 minute drive).

The weather was great, warm sunny days and cool crisp nights. The vacationers and permanent residents around the lake were all very friendly and on several nights it seemed like the whole area was out for a nice leisurely stroll around the lake.

We will definitely visit again..

The Moose Cabin Delivers!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been more happy with both our stay and the planning process. John and Dianna were a pleasure to work with and extremely accommodating of all of our needs and requests. They were kind, timely and helpful.

The property itself was fantastic and exactly what we had hoped for. We were traveling with two families (four adults and four kids) and so needed plenty of space to spread out in. The cabin is large, charming, clean and has everything one needs for a relaxing weekend in Grand Lake. Though on Columbine Lake and not in Grand Lake proper, it's still only a short 5 minute drive away. And honestly, even if you never drove into downtown Grand Lake and just hung out all weekend at the cabin, you'd still have a great time. It's beautiful.

The only thing I would offer to any families like ours is to ensure that your kids are comfortable with stairs as this property has a lot of them. It wasn't a probably for us, but my one year old was obsessed with going up and down them all weekend. So just know that you might be chasing your kids a bit if you have any under 2 like we did.

Thank you Dianna and John for a spectacular stay. We look forward to coming back again and/or recommending this property to our friends.
