About Dardo Barbini
I've been working in the Travel Industry for the last 22 years. I have travel extensively around the world (over 60 countries!) but I keep going back to the Adriatic coastline, one of my favourite spots in the world. Born in Argentina but have been living in Dublin for the past 18 years. Tea the housekeeper lives nearby and she is most helpful and will be at hand for anything you need.
Dardo Barbini purchased this Apartment in 2007
What makes this Apartment unique
I bought this property several years ago and have lovingly decorated and upgraded it to the way it is today. There's four apartments in the building, I own two, a friend and ex co worker own another one and her uncle the fourth one/ We have had 6 very successful holiday seasons to date, with holidaymakers from all over the world. Majority of our guests come from UK, Germany, France and Poland. We look forward to welcoming you in 2016!
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
It may be cosy inside but believe me you will be spending most of your time at the apartment sitting on the balcony looking at the stunning views with a cold beer and thinking what a great place. We stayed for nine nights in the middle of May just before the season gets going so it wasn't too busy and the nearby restaurant was fantasic and very reasonable. The promenade outside goes both ways and you can walk for miles through the small towns along this coast and we did most days.
Just to mention our host Tea what a very helpful lady and arranging a day trip with Zeljko our guide to the National Park KrKa with stops at Sibenik and Primosten, what a day. We even managed days out on our own getting the 37 bus to Split one day and the same bus going in the opposite direction to Trogir a few days later both worthy of a visit. Finishing I do have to say that the weather was fantasic even though we had a couple of thunderstorms but they can be amazing to watch. I have a feeling that we might be returning.
Good value and lovely view
This is a small studio apartment, but it has everything you need. Lovely view from the balcony and good value for money. Tea was very helpful. Small problem with ants but we were given some powder and this was soon sorted. PS - Stairs are quite steep as on the third floor.
Perfect location and helpful staff
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in Kastel Kambelovac. We stayed in the top floor apartment. Dardo was very nice to work with and answered all of my questions quickly. He also sent information on the area that helped with our planning. Once we arrived, the on-site helper, Tea, was very friendly and always close by if we needed anything. Our room was spotlessly clean and exactly as described. Make sure you are aware that this is a studio apartment. It is very small and for no more than 2 persons. However, the location cannot be beat and the fantastic water view make up for the lack of room. We would definitely rent this room again.
Good place for car-free solo travellers
I stayed at the Blue Studio for a month on a working holiday in the winter. The space is very good for someone who may want to spend a large portion of the day time as well indoors. There is good natural light, a sea view, and the sit-out on the balcony is fantastic, I enjoyed many sunsets here.
A few specifics in the winter: unlike more touristy parts of the Dalmatian coast Kastela is also a working town and set of fishing villages. I found enough restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and super markets open within walking distance (of course not all are open, but enough of them). I went around a bit in the province and can say that many places while well-sorted for holiday homes may struggle to provide services for car-free visitors as well as Kastela does in the winter. This is one of the biggest pluses if you choose this place.
The studio itself: it is compact but makes good use of space to provide a wide and comfortable bed, and relaxed lounge sofa in the 'living' area. The table/desk, stools and chairs are all light, so can be pulled around to suit your mood (or depending on the intensity of the sun shining through the balcony door!). The bathroom is compact but sufficient. On the kitchen front is where it gets tricky (or tiring) after the first 2 weeks. You have to be very disciplined, patient, and efficient to cook meals in this kitchen. It is possible of course, with some creative thinking.
WiFi is good. It is quiet (no construction noise or empty plots nearby, again not everywhere around is so lucky, lots of holiday homes get built or renovated in the winter). The housekeeper is on hand around the corner to assist in case of issues. The off season price which I paid (less than £300 for the month) is good value. The bus to Split takes 30 minutes and stops 2 minutes from the house, running every 20 minutes until 11pm. On the other side the airport is 15 minutes away.
The Kastela villages (7 of them, this one is bang in the middle) are all wonderful, to walk through, sip a coffee at or to enjoy a run along the coast. All the locals were very friendly to the only brown-skinned person in the country :-P
A tip: there is Uber in Split, and it is cheap!
Just lovely and everything I expected and hoped it would be.
It was such a lovely apartment! And it was just located perfectly for everything! Shops, bar, restaurant, beach, Also 5 mins walk from bus stops into Split and Trogir. Just perfect. Recommend it!
A lovely apartment with a beautiful view.
This was our second visit to Blue Apartment and it was just as good as we remembered from our first visit. Dardo was extremely helpful with the booking process and always replied promptly to any emails we sent. The apartment was clean and adequately stocked with crockery, pans etc to enable us to eat in - we enjoyed many meals looking out over the sea from the balcony. We also enjoyed meals out in Kastel Kambelovac and nearby Trogir. We had a wonderful time and Tea the housekeeper was very helpful with any questions we had. She arranged a visit for us to Krka National Park which was a great day out. We came back home from our holiday feeling rested and refreshed. Thank you :)
