About the property

A quiet haven in the heart of Downtown Newport with the most spectacular views!

This extremely desirable property boasts four spacious bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room and a half bath. The dining room, living room, kitchen and half bath occupy the first floor, which is the perfect space for entertaining family and friends. The living room includes a large sofa, two love seats, television, DVD player with a few movies and board games for an occasional rainy day. A large hall closet keeps your beach gear at the ready. The kitchen is fully loaded and includes stainless steel appliances, including dishwasher and microwave. The property is graced with hardwoods and ceramic tile throughout. The second floor contains three bedrooms, a full bath and utility closet with brand new stackable washer and dryer. The third floor is essentially a private suite, comprised of the fourth bedroom and attached full bath. With the exception of one full-sized bed, all bedrooms contain queen-sized beds. Ample closets and full dressers enhance each bedroom. And there are a few desks and chairs for those that need to “stay connected.” The pièce de résistance is the “fourth floor”…one of Newport’s most spectacular roofdecks, offering amazing views of the harbor and bridge. Some of the finest sunsets are experienced here, bar none. A quaint courtyard patio with grill, just outside the back door, completes the package.

Park your car in the private driveway (a guest pass for residential street parking for a guest’s car is also included) and forget about it, as you’re not likely to need it much, if at all here in Newport’s popular Yachting Village. Relax and enjoy a peaceful retreat, literally steps from some of the finest restaurants, nightlife and shops Newport has to offer. Beaches are a leisurely stroll or a lightening-fast car ride away. Tackle Newport’s Cliff Walk for a glimpse of some of the world’s finest and most historic mansions and pick a couple to see up close and personal. Visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the famous Newport Folk Festival or Newport Jazz Festival. Take a harbor cruise on the deck of an America’s Cup Yacht, hit the links JFK style or see Newport from the sky via helicopter tour. These are just a few of the amenities at your fingertips from this lovely property.

About Shannon Dunnigan

I'm a native Rhode Islander, who has owned investment property in Newport since 2004. I currently live in the Greater Providence area.

Shannon Dunnigan purchased this townhome in 2006

Why Shannon Dunnigan chose Newport

A dear friend from college and I purchased this property after enjoying many summers In Newport. One summer we observed the spectacular renovations that went on with this property and had to make it ours!

What makes this townhome unique

I've spent a lot of time in Newport and have enjoyed many views. This roof deck offers one of the most spectacular views in all of Newport!

Guestbook comments from the owner

[This is from a Five Star Review of the property, posted on the "Newport Townhouse" page on Facebook.]

This beautiful, four bedrooom, townhouse is a gem and conveniently located just off Thames Street. Every restaurant we dined at was within walking distance. One of our favorites, Scales and Shells, is around the corner, just a few steps away. All of the rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and spacious. My favorite part of the house was the (quiet) large rooftop deck which offered amazing views of the harbor and some of the most beautiful sunsets. And you will never find nicer owners!

Five Stars for a Reason. Fabulous Vacation House in a Great Location.

  • 5 of 5

I admit that I was swayed to choose this property because of the multiple five star ratings. I also confess that in my mind I questioned "Could ALL of these 5-star reviews be legitimate?" The answer is "yes"!

This house was perfect for our family of 7 (and 10 would have been comfortable with the air mattress.) Everyone in my family appreciated the spaciousness of the house and the bedrooms. No one felt like they got stuck with the small room. All the rooms were a good size and very comfortable.

The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with everything you would need. Crock pot? It's there. Blenders, mixers, toasters, 2 coffee makers (keurig and regular drip), every type of dish and glassware, it's all there. In fact, I overpacked not realizing that the house would have so many staples. Cleaning products, paper products, pantry items, all were plentiful the week we were there.

Of course everyone comments on the fantastic views from the roof deck, and they are spectacular. The Newport sky is beautiful and ever changing. We enjoyed coffee in the mornings and cocktails in the evenings on the deck. We ate dinner on the deck one night, too, as the sun was setting over Narragansett Bay.

I think the best part of this house, though, is it's location. You are truly steps away from everything. I was concerned to rent a summer vacation house in town instead of on the beach. I know my family had their concerns, too, since they are all beach lovers. But, everyone absolutely loved walking to all the restaurants, bars and shops. I walked to church, I walked to the food store, I walked to the Cliff Walk and to some of the mansions. We went to Second Beach the first day, but then we discovered Rejects Beach, and it was perfect for us. This beach was bikeable, less than 2 miles from the house. We would load up our gear in our car and get dropped off at the beach (no public parking here). The driver would bike back. My beach lovers were very happy.

Scales and Shells was the restaurant just around the corner from the house. They had a terrific raw bar which my children liked to frequent. We ate dinner here at the outdoor tables one night, too. The smell of seafood and garlic (which we could smell from the roof deck) was just too enticing! Dinner was delicious. Zelda's and Bouchard's were 2 other nearby places that we enjoyed.

Despite the close proximity to everything, the street and the house were quiet.

Bottom line, this house was worthy of its 5-star reviews!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding and had guests from early 20s to mid80s staying at the house. The house was perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked. The house was clean and everything worked. The view from the deck was incredible. There was plenty of room for everyone to spend time together. The house is easy walking distance to everything in town. Shannon was very helpful and quick to answer any questions as we planned our trip. I look forward to another stay!

Place with a view!

  • 5 of 5

The house was spacious, comfortable and the location was perfect. We were right off Thames street and were within walking distance to so many restaurants and shops. But our favorite spot was the house's roof deck. The view of the water was amazing. We enjoyed both sunsets at night and our coffee in the morning up there.
