Immaculate family home on 2000 acre WIXOM LAKE

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Water front property, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 4 beds (sleeps 8 in beds) plus futon

This is a beautiful and immaculate home, and is a perfect destination for your family vacation. The house is updated, very clean, and is in perfect condition for your trip. Right on a main canal off the all sports, 2000+ acre “Wixom Lake.” It's a perfect spot all year round.

We have had several family rentals over the past three years, and the feedback has been phenomenal. We appreciate family rentals.

Wixom Lake is great for boating, fishing, and all the water sports. This house has everything you need for an awesome vacation. This is approximately 1600 square feet with a wide open floor plan. It has 4 beds, plus a futon and plenty of floor space. It has central heat & air, full size HE washer/dryer, water softener, fireplace, gas grill, bonfire pit, boardwalk, large covered porch, and dock space for one boat.

Wixom Lake is a large lake with a lot of opportunities to have fun. A warm sunny day will bring out the boats, tubers, and Jet Ski’s. Wixom Lake also hosts numerous bass fishing tournaments every summer. Explore the many canals and find a nice quiet swimming hole. There are multiple sand bar/docking spots which are great for volleyball, swimming, or just relaxing. The marina and "Smith's Landing" are very close, and they offer pontoon rentals. The winter months offer the snow enthusiasts many options. Wixom Lake is very popular with the ice fisherman and snowmobiles. The state park is right off the lake, and you can ride the sleds right to the state lands.

The property itself is right on a wide canal just minutes from the main lake. Bass fishing is very popular on this canal. The water is approximately 6 feet deep on our canal, and is great for swimming. The night skies are filled with stars and the big dipper will greet you almost every night.

The lower level of the house consists of a large kitchen, lots of counter space and all the amenities including refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher and Keurig coffee maker. We can't supply the food, but everything else is there waiting for you. The dining area includes a large dining table that seats 8-10 comfortably, but if you need extra room feel free to eat outside on our covered porch. It's a great spot to relax with the morning sun. The great room is spacious and includes couch, loveseat and chair/ottoman. The fireplace is electric, and there is a 50", 4k flat screen HDTV and DVD player. The downstairs bedroom has a queen sized bed. The bathroom is clean, and includes a full sized shower. Attached to the bathroom is our main floor bedroom including queen size bed.

Upstairs we have two more bedrooms and another full bathroom. Bedroom #2 includes a queen sized bed plus flat screen TV. The bunk room includes a futon and an extra-large set of bunk beds, with FULL sized mattress top and bottom. This room is perfect for the kids.

It’s a great getaway, but you are still close to a lot of activity. We are located just north of Midland, which is a fantastic town filled with nightlife and activity for all ages. Catch a baseball game at Loons Stadium; the "grass passes" are the best. The quiet town of Gladwin is just to our North. The immediate area includes a market, hospital, multiple restaurants/bars, plus an antique shop.

Feel free to take a road trip and visit numerous golfing and shopping opportunities. We are located 35 miles from the Soaring Eagle Casino which offers shows and gambling nightly.

New additions as of October 2015: HDTV, wifi/high speed internet, and land line telephone. Rental includes local and domestics long distance. These new features make this an excellent spot for work activity as well. I personally use this property for my office days, and I am very happy with new services.

Please note, rentals do not include the use of our boat. Pontoon rentals are available from multiple companies in the area. Dock space is limited to one boat, 24 foot max.

About Dirk

please read the reviews from our guests. they speak for themselves

Dirk purchased this house in 2009

Why Dirk chose Northeast

We built this property as a family get-a-way spot, and it delivers! Fun for all ages all year round. I am so proud of this little piece of heaven, and I'd like to share it with you and your family. It's updated, it's clean, and you will absolutely love the peace and quiet on Wixom Lake. Sorry, we do not include boats in any of our rentals.

What makes this house unique

The covered porch is one of my favorite spots in the summer. The morning sun will great you. Enjoy a cup of coffee and plan your day on the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful and very well appointed house on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

This house vastly exceeded my expectations. From the super clean and well maintained property to the gourmet kitchen, everything was perfect. The home has an open, airy feel inside thanks to cathedral ceilings and ample lighting. Our host spent a good half hour showing us where everything was and making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This was by far the nicest place I have ever rented. If I could give it 6 stars I would!

Beautiful house and a great location

  • 5 of 5

This house is as it appears online. Spacious. Light. Modern with a flat screen for every bedroom and great home stereo too. The wi-fi was speedy and our kids were able to get some great down time indoors when the rain came. Outside there were ample fish, a canoe to use, and a fire pit. Great communication with the owner. We would definitely recommend this rental and hope to stay here again!

A Fantastic Family Vacation on a Beautiful Setting - August 14-21, 2016

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about this property and its owner, Dirk. Dirk was wonderful to work with. He responded immediately to my calls and emails. Our annual family vacation consists of my wife and I, our two grown daughters and their spouses, our two teenage grandsons and my wife's mom. The home is immaculate, nicely furnished, extremely comfortable and well laid out. The living room had a large screen TV with games, (I think it's called Wii) that allowed everyone to bowl, play baseball and other action games that got used a lot. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. All three bedrooms had flat screen TVs. The Kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, tableware, an ice-maker, and a wine refrigerator. We lacked for nothing. Everyone's favorite place in the home was the back porch area. It was large enough to comfortably accommodate everyone and we were very close to the water which was a real plus for us. We had our morning coffee there, ate our lunch there and had cocktails there in the evening. When the weather was sweltering hot, the porch offered a shady area that included a ceiling fan to keep the air moving. And when it rained, there was no better placed to be than on that porch listening to the rain hit the water.

The location of the home was what initially drew my attention. It was very very close (5 minutes by boat) to pontoon alley where all of the good swimming is. The weather was hot and everyone enjoyed the water activities. I brought along my 16 foot fishing boat and spent a great deal of time on the lake fishing. Between me, my grandsons and the other guys, we caught pike, perch, bluegills, walleyes and catfish. Whether swimming, fishing or just vegging family had the best time ever.

So in conclusion, this place is the "Real Deal".

Thanks Dirk for everything!!!!!!!

Great place to vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Hi. This was our second vacation here. No complaints. Very nice house and the lake has everything you want to do. TV in every bedroom added this year. That was a big plus. Also has good internet. Cell phone reception is better outside. That is normal in many parts of mid and upper MI. Grocery store nearby. Would rent this home again. Owen Dunn. Toledo, OH
