Our 1 bedroom Garden suite in Kitsilano is very central for anything you want to see and do in Vancouver. The Living Room has a large window and French doors so there is lots of light and it has a nice airy feeling.
There is a kitchenette with a small fridge, coffee maker, kettle, and sink. The bedroom has a Queen size bed, luxury linens and a walk in closet. There is a full bathroom off the bedroom with a great shower and a full size tub for a nice soak after a long day of enjoying everything Vancouver has to offer.
The suite has a private entrance and the owners live upstairs so are readily available to answer any questions about the local sights or to deal with anything you need. There is good internet service but no television.
We are very central and very close to several bike route and public transportation
I came to Vancouver in the 1970's on my way around the world, fell in love with the city and never left. The first day I arrived here was glorious sunshine then it rained for 30 days but gradually the sun came out again and I could see those glorious mountains. I also got a job with Canadian Airlines which was a great company full of like minded people who liked to travel.
I still love Vancouver, especially Kitsilano with it's vibrancy, diversity, great restaurants, bike routes and close to everything Vancouver has to offer.
Lesley Petts purchased this apartment in 2006
I've lived in Vancouver since the 1970's and usually close to Kitsilano but have always loved Kitsilano and moved there in 2006. I also like to renovate and this 1920's house definitely needed some TLC but the location was good and it was very liveable. We patched her up and enjoyed living there while we made plans for a major renovation. In 2013 we embarked on a 1 year renovation to turn it into a Kitsilano gem. Everything is new but as one of my neighbours said it looks about 100 years old, in a good way. We kept the Kitsilano charm but with all the modern conveniences. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun and I am very much enjoying living in my "new" house.
Kitsilano is close to everything you want to do in Vancouver but the street we live on is quiet and neighbourly. The house is a few steps away from a bike route that will take you on a nice ride West to Jericho beach, Jericho sailing club, Spanish Banks and UBC or east to Kitsilano Beach, Granville Island, Science world, English Bay and Stanley Park. It's also a 5 minute walk away from great bus routes that will take you to UBC or downtown in less than 20 minutes.
In the summer there is the farm market every Saturday where you can pick up fresh produce, have lunch at one of the food trucks and meet the locals. There are also several fresh produce shops on Broadway as well as men's and women's clothing shops, the Travel Bug, Kidsbooks, Ace Cycle and many more.
We had four nights in Lesley's apartment. We found her easy to deal with as far as the booking went and very helpful when we arrived. The apartment is modern, clean and comfortable. It is a quick and easy bus ride to the centre of town. A few blocks in either direction are numerous, interesting and well priced restaurants. We would recommend the apartment.
We had a lovely stay at Lesley's apartment. The space is immaculately clean and very comfortably decorated, with just the right amount of personal touches (books, soap, cookies) to make it feel especially welcoming. Lesley was extremely professional and responsive--when we had questions she went out of her way to be helpful, but otherwise left us to relax. The neighborhood is quiet, with blocks of beautiful houses and many restaurants and shops in walking distance. We visited after a long foot race and needed to rest up and repack before heading home, and this was an ideal spot. Many thanks to Lesley! We would recommend this apartment highly.
Perfectly placed in the center of Kitsilano. Clean and convenient to everything. And to boot, Lesley is an excellent, responsive host.
Our annual road trip to Vancouver, B.C. is one of our favorite things to do. We select a neighborhood in Vancouver, B.C and begin searching vrbo.com for location, amenities and proximity to any of Vancouver's busy network of bicycle byways.
What a delight to find this newly renovated one-bedroom apartment one block off the "off Broadway" bicycle path, and in Kitsilano, too! Once our bicycles were unloaded, the car remained parked until the last full day, when we drove over the Second Narrows Bridge to Deep Cove for a day of hiking and biking.
Meeting Lesley (and later her daughter), we could understand her enthusiasm for her city and her neighborhood. We happened upon the annual Kahtsahlano Street Fair (July 9, 2016) for the first time and found it to be wonderfully entertaining (music, 4th Avenue shops with all kinds of promotions, food trucks, friendly people). We also enjoyed two performances at Bard-on-the-Beach and a musical on Granville Island,
We would recommend this property to our friends and relatives. The only suggestion for the kitchenette area would be the addition of a toaster-oven, in order to heat up breakfast pastries (purchased locally) and perhaps an electric egg poacher. We enjoy eating breakfast in. There is a lovely fridge, coffee pot and water heater, but no counter top cook space or oven.
The Naam restaurant (24/7) is a must experience! We always enjoy the 49th Parallel for coffee & donuts and Arms Reach Bistro (Deep Cove). Grabbing a quick pre-performance bite in the various food courts at the Granville Island Market is always a treat.
Vancouver is a growing community and many multiple family homes were in the process of renovation. Workers and construction noise did not disturb us as their hours usually run 8-4. Many area schools were also receiving major facelifts! Just another sign of a dynamic, evolving community!
My son and I traveled to Vancouver for the first time, so we did not know the area. From our first contact with Lesley she was always friendly and helpful. She answered all inquires quickly. She gave clear instructions on finding and accessing her suite. Her suite was very clean, and had little added touches to welcome guests. She checked on us during our stay, through my email, just to make sure everything was going well. She was concerned about the construction noise from next door, but it was never problematic. The neighborhood felt safe, and we did not hesitate to walk after dark. We traveled by public transit and were able to walk easily to many different stops. There are many restuarants close by, as well as small markets and larger grocery stores. We loved our stay in Vancouver and highly recommend Lesley's suite for two people. Thank you so much Lesley!
While in Vancouver we also recommend taking in a performance of 'Bard on the Beach' during the summer. It was fantastic! We also had a great whale watching tour through Wild Whales Vancouver on Granville Island. Visiting the Museum of Anthropology at UBC is worthwhile and the salmon fish & chips at Prospect Point in Stanley Park were wonderful.
My son and I traveled to Vancouver in June 2016. We had never been and did not know the area at all. Lesley was very friendly and helpful from our first contact. She answered all my inquiries quickly and was willing to give advice/suggestions. We found the rental property to be very well maintained, and very clean. While the property is small, it suited the two of us very well. Over the course of our stay, Lesley checked in with us to make sure that everything was ok and to make sure we were not being bothered by construction noise from next door. (Which was not a problem.) We used public transit to get around, and were easily able to access it from this location. We felt safe walking through the neighborhood after dark. There were many restuarants close by and a grocery store or smaller markets we could walk to. I would highly recommend this property. Lesley was wonderful to work with and makes sure her property is a great place to stay!
If you are looking for things to do, we recommend attending a performance of "Bard on the Beach", during the summer. It was fantastic! We also had a great whale watch tour through "Wild Whales Vancouver" on Granville Island. The Museum of Anthropology is worth a visit. The salmon fish and chips at Prospect Point in Stanley Park were wonderful.
Thank you so much Lesley for helping to make our first visit to Vancouver a fabulous one! We hope to visit Vancouver again, and would not hesitate to book here again!
We are centrally located in Kitsilano, close to shops, restaurants and buses on 4th Avenue and Broadway. Less than 20 minutes by bus to UBC campus or down town. The restaurant selection is extensive, all within an easy walk. For breakfast try Baguette & Co. for delicious coffee and French pastries, or the Sunshine Diner with a large select of Eggs Benedict. For dinner there is Indian, Mexican, Lebanese, Greek, Thai, Vegetarian and many more. We are close to several bike routes that can take you for a short ride along the beach or a longer ride around Science World and Stanley Park.
