About the property

Very Large and Bright One Bedroom Garden Apartment in Montford Historic District

Newly furnished 1BD with all the comforts. Lots of windows give this large space a bright and airy feel, and the light hardwoods help keep it clean. Located in peaceful Historic Montford, it's just a 10-15 minute walk to downtown!

This apartment has new updates, including a new window in the bedroom, new kitchen accessories and curtains, new living room chairs, a new twin cot, and the couch was professionally cleaned in June 2017.

It is beautiful and spacious, with lots of light, and located in the best neighborhood in Asheville. This 1 bedroom apartment is a quick walk to downtown Asheville and has everything you need for a long or short stay.

Refrigerator, Cooktop, Convection oven, Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer/Dryer, Coffee Maker, French Press, Toaster, Ceramic Tea Pot, Cast Iron Pans, New Wave Enviro Water Filter, Stainless Cookware, DVDs, Books, Wireless Internet, (No Cable), MP3 player, Queen Bed, Rollaway Twin Cot, Dresser, Backyard, Outdoor Table

The apartment most easily accommodates two people, with a Queen Size bed. There is a rollaway twin cot for a 3rd person (new as of June, 2017), and a 4th person can sleep on the extra long, very flat couch (professionally cleaned with eco cleaning solutions in June 2017).

Check in: 3:00 pm. Check out: 11:00 am.

I think Montford is the best neighborhood in Asheville, and when I was looking to move out of my former apartment on Cumberland Ave in Montford, I searched for nearly a year for a house in the same neighborhood. I was fortunate to find this one. I can't say enough good about this neighborhood. It is the best for walking around and walking to downtown and back. It is truly beautiful, with so many historic homes. If you do plan to walk into town, there is a gradual incline on the way to Montford Avenue, but once you get to Montford Avenue, the walk into town becomes more level. If you don't like waking, the drive to town is just about 1 mile, and you can take Uber or Lyft for a few dollars.

If you get a chance, walk or drive down Montford Ave and Cumberland Ave and look at all the beautiful, historic homes. Montford has several amazing restaurants: Nine Mile for Jamaican or Caribbean, Chiesa for Italian (fresh-made pasta!), and Tod's Tasties, an artisan sandwich place, great for outdoor dining.

Asheville Area Transit stops at the intersection of Soco and Montford Avenue. It is a quick walk from here. The downtown bus station is also an easy walk from here. You can take Uber or Lyft to downtown for around $5.

House Rules: No smoking on the property. No burning candles or incense (or lighting flames) indoors or outdoors on the property. No pets. No parties.

About Kim Rogers

I am thrilled to be renting out a portion of my home to guests. My son and I live above the apartment, on the main floor of the house, and I am often around. I often work at home, but if there is anything you may need, please do not hesitate to ask. I love being of assistance!

This is a downstairs apartment and I live above you with my son. We make all effort to keep footstep noise down. If you plan to sleep late in the morning, feel free to let me know so that I can keep any extra house noise to a minimum. Our neighborhood also has 2 dogs that may bark in the morning while they go on walks, but other than that, the house is on a very quiet, dead-end street with little road noise. Nonetheless, I provide a box of ear plugs and a fan for you if you need them.

What makes this apartment unique

One of my favorite things about the apartment is that it is so large and open. I also love the lawn and patio right outside of your door, and that that this house is on a dead-end road, with little traffic or road noise.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here while visiting Asheville. Kim was helpful with questions as we prepared for our trip and checked in with us upon arrival. The house had everything we needed and more. Short walk to downtown and limitless possibilities. So grateful for the hospitality. Thank you so much!

Great space and location!

  • 4 of 5

Great space and location close to downtown Asheville. My only suggestion for the owner is to inspect for bugs (yes, I realize this is a basement so bugs will be present.... there were a handful that we killed during our 3 night stay) and to put blinds and/or blackout curtains in the bedroom. There is an outdoor light that kept the room quite bright at night so we improvised by placing blankets and quilts over the existing, thin curtains.

Owner's Response: Hi Julie! Thank you for the feedback. I've had the area (outside and inside) treated for pest control in June, July and August-- once each month because I noticed the problem too and wanted to take care of it. I'm so sorry bugs were there during your stay in July. As of August 8, I haven't seen any. I would like to know about these things so that I can increase pest control if needed. Treating the outside of the house seems to work best. And I can put up dark curtains. I noticed that you'd put blankets over the curtains. If the light outside is too bright, that is an easy fix. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!

Great find!

  • 5 of 5

We love the quirks of renovated older homes, and this apartment is quite delightful. It has a very large living room/dining/kitchen area and we never felt cramped. The bathroom is very large as well. We spent our late evenings on the back patio enjoying the cool night air. Our view from the patio was an undeveloped park, which we were told will stay that way. That in itself seems to be an incredibly find in a rental only a mile from a bustling town.
