Very Large and Bright One Bedroom Garden Apartment in Montford Historic District

This apartment has new updates, including a new window in the bedroom, new kitchen accessories and curtains, new living room chairs, a new twin cot, and the couch was professionally cleaned in June 2017.

It is beautiful and spacious, with lots of light, and located in the best neighborhood in Asheville. This 1 bedroom apartment is a quick walk to downtown Asheville and has everything you need for a long or short stay.

Check in: 3:00 pm. Check out: 11:00 am.

I think Montford is the best neighborhood in Asheville, and when I was looking to move out of my former apartment on Cumberland Ave in Montford, I searched for nearly a year for a house in the same neighborhood. I was fortunate to find this one. I can't say enough good about this neighborhood. It is the best for walking around and walking to downtown and back. It is truly beautiful, with so many historic homes. If you do plan to walk into town, there is a gradual incline on the way to Montford Avenue, but once you get to Montford Avenue, the walk into town becomes more level. If you don't like waking, the drive to town is just about 1 mile, and you can take Uber or Lyft for a few dollars.

If you get a chance, walk or drive down Montford Ave and Cumberland Ave and look at all the beautiful, historic homes. Montford has several amazing restaurants: Nine Mile for Jamaican or Caribbean, Chiesa for Italian (fresh-made pasta!), and Tod's Tasties, an artisan sandwich place, great for outdoor dining.

Asheville Area Transit stops at the intersection of Soco and Montford Avenue. It is a quick walk from here. The downtown bus station is also an easy walk from here. You can take Uber or Lyft to downtown for around $5.

House Rules: No smoking on the property. No burning candles or incense (or lighting flames) indoors or outdoors on the property. No pets. No parties.

About Kim Rogers

I am thrilled to be renting out a portion of my home to guests. My son and I live above the apartment, on the main floor of the house, and I am often around. I often work at home, but if there is anything you may need, please do not hesitate to ask. I love being of assistance!

This is a downstairs apartment and I live above you with my son. We make all effort to keep footstep noise down. If you plan to sleep late in the morning, feel free to let me know so that I can keep any extra house noise to a minimum. Our neighborhood also has 2 dogs that may bark in the morning while they go on walks, but other than that, the house is on a very quiet, dead-end street with little road noise. Nonetheless, I provide a box of ear plugs and a fan for you if you need them.

What makes this apartment unique

One of my favorite things about the apartment is that it is so large and open. I also love the lawn and patio right outside of your door, and that that this house is on a dead-end road, with little traffic or road noise.

Great find!

  • 5 of 5

We love the quirks of renovated older homes, and this apartment is quite delightful. It has a very large living room/dining/kitchen area and we never felt cramped. The bathroom is very large as well. We spent our late evenings on the back patio enjoying the cool night air. Our view from the patio was an undeveloped park, which we were told will stay that way. That in itself seems to be an incredibly find in a rental only a mile from a bustling town.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Apartment was very clean and large. It was accurate to the photos and even larger than the photos give credit for. We were able to walk to town and the weather was perfect for June. The apartment had air conditioning, but even in the high 70 degree sunny weather, we didn't need it. Ceiling fans and opening the bedroom window was perfect. Nice breezes came through. It was nice having a full size fridge and fairly good sized kitchen and dining table too (even though it was just the two of us).

Very Clean and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend getaway. This apartment was very close to downtown, yet tucked away in a beautiful quaint neighborhood. We loved walking in the neighborhood and to the river arts area. Super clean,, and the apartment was larger than we thought it would be. Very comfortable bed!! Kimberly was very responsive to all of our questions about restaurants and things to do and she texted back immediately whenever we texted her! Will definitely stay again.

Not what we expected.

  • 2 of 5

My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights in May. We never saw anybody, just had a key left on the coffee table. The apartment was well below our standards at best. We used the rollaway bed which is very worn out with a big dip in the middle. When we arrived there were spiders in the kitchen. After txting Kim she did come down and vacuum them up. I could have not have stayed there any longer than we did. Living room furniture is in need of a good cleaning. You can walk to downtown if you have oxygen because it is all up hill and at least 2 miles to anything you would want to do downtown. Very very small tv with no cable just an antenna that didnt work very well. All in all it was very disappointing.

Owner's Response: After I saw this review, I went out and bought a new twin cot, one with strong springs to replace the one I had. Even though I didn't see stains on the living room furniture, I had a cleaning company come this morning to clean the upholstery,.! Unfortunately, in the summer, some bugs can come in if guests leave the door and cottage windows open. (The cottage windows in the kitchen don't have screens). I've left a note for guests to keep those closed, to keep bugs out. Being a garden apartment, there may be a chance of bugs if those are open. There is an incline as you walk from Courtland Ave to Montford Ave, and then it levels out to walk into downtown. Asheville is hilly and surrounded by mountains. Still, many guests walk and bike to downtown from the house. Uber and Lyft are about $5 to town from the house if you don't want to walk or park. And I had to leave a key on the coffee table for self check-in! I allow guests to check in when they can, and can't always step away from work to meet them, yet I can make arrangements to be available and take care of problems. And I do respond to texts right away, even if I'm working. I'm happy to have made these improvements for future guests and I'm always willing to hear of any areas that need improvement.
