I think Montford is the best neighborhood in Asheville, and when I was looking to move out of my former apartment on Cumberland Ave in Montford, I searched for nearly a year for a house in the same neighborhood. I was fortunate to find this one! I can't say enough good about this neighborhood! It is the best for walking around and walking to downtown and back. It is truly beautiful, with so many historic homes. If you get a chance, do walk or drive down Montford Ave and Cumberland Ave and look at all the gorgeous homes. I think walking is better, especially on a spring or summer day, because it really gives you a chance to take in the splendor that is historic Asheville. Montford has several amazing restaurants: Nine Mile for Jamaican or Caribbean, Chiesa for Italia (fresh-made pasta!), and Tod's Tasties, an artisan sandwich place, great for outdoor dining.
Asheville Area Transit stops at the intersection of Soco and Montford Avenue. It is a quick walk from here. The downtown bus station is also an easy walk from here.
House Rules: No smoking on the property. No burning candles or incense (or lighting flames) indoors or outdoors on the property. No pets. No super loudness between 10 pm and 8 am.
I am thrilled to be renting out a portion of my home to guests. I live above the apartment, on the main floor of the house, and I am often around. I keep to myself, but if there is anything you may need, please do not hesitate to ask. I love being of assistance!
One of my favorite things about the apartment is that it is so large and open. I also love the lawn and patio right outside of your door, and I love that you can walk to downtown from the apartment.
Had a wonderful stay here over the winter break. Just off downtown Asheville, a bit less than a mile. Very cute and clean basement/downstairs apartment well outfitted with a sizable kitchenette, really a small kitchen. She even had coffee (machine makes espresso drinks, too!) supplied, which was great because we didn't get to the store the first day. Kim was very responsive by text, even over the holidays. Would stay here again!
Stayed at this apartment during a very cold weekend in December. It was kept very warm and felt good to come inside. We had absolutely everything we needed to cook and the space was vert comfortable. The location was close to downtown and made it very easy to get around. The owner was very available to us if we had questions. We will stay there again when we go to Asheville.
The apartment was in a quiet but very convenient location. It was well equipped for cooking meals, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable including the bed. Visited from Connecticut to spend Thanksgiving with our daughter who lives in Asheville. Would absolutely stay here again.
We stayed for a week and it was our second visit. The apartment is a great compromise because it's an easy walk downtown (15 mins to Thirsty Monk) but is set in a neighborhood, so it's quiet without a lot of the late night street noise that you get when you stay right downtown plus you can just park on the street for free. There is tons of room inside and the kitchen is fully functional. A bit of the walk to downtown has to be on the street because there are no sidewalks; just be careful in the early morning or late at night because the cars fly up and down Courtland Ave (which is different from the road the apt is on) and don't seem to have much concern for pedestrians. We will stay here again for sure.
We had a great time during our stay, the apartment was very clean and has plenty of living space. Lots of on-street parking and very close to everything fun in downtown Asheville! The apartment also has everything you could need for an extended stay (stove/microwave, pots and pans, silverware, coffeemaker etc.). Shower is on the small side (two people were able to squeeze in), but otherwise a fantastic rental! Would definitely consider renting again
The location was near everything. Many previous reviewers are correct in that it is within walking distance of a good many places, but I felt with little kids, tight streets, no sidewalks (and limited street parking near the apartment) that driving was our only option for our safety.
Once inside, we loved the spaciousness and the nice dining table was great to prep some home cooked meals after exploring Asheville for the day (that's why we stay at vacation rentals in lieu of hotels - we love the space to cook and eat as a family that a hotel just cannot provide).
The owner was lovely and ready to be as helpful as we needed. This was our first trip to Asheville and I'm certain that we will be back.
