Available August! This is a beautiful, elegant beach home with the finest furnishings, but comfy! And colorful! Designed for six guests. Enter on main floor to living room w gas fireplace, flatscreen cable TV, dining room, french doors opening to beautiful deck, furniture, grill, and private sunny back yard, shaded where you want it. Great kitchen, large master w/ queen, smaller bedroom (aka the library) w/ queen sofa bed & french doors, and bathroom w a very small claw footed tub, not really functional for bathing, since the bath has hardwood floors. Think of it as a powder room. Wifi of course. Sleeps 4 on the main floor.
Downstairs is large cozy TV/game room, huge deep L shaped sectional sofa, game table, reading sofa, bedroom w king bed, laundry room, bathroom w/ shower, garage entrance for bikes, golf clubs etc. Downstairs sleeps 2.
The beautiful large, lush back yard with big trees is why I bought the house 20 years ago. The large deck has a large teak sectional sofa with cushions. I put the cushions out in May and remove them in October, and provide a cover for protection when not in use to prevent rain damage and ask that you treat them as if they were your own.
Holidays are excluded from the discounted seasonal rate of $250/night.
Truly life is a gift and I am so fortunate to have two beautiful homes, this one in Seattle and another home in Princeville where I spend half of my time. (Check it out on VRBO listing # 679905). I have been in the Alki neighborhood of West Seattle since 1972, in the recreational boating business. After sailing offshore with my husband 1978-80 (who has since passed), I co-owned Seattle's Elliott Bay Yachting Center and Yacht Sales for 10 years, then founded YachtWorld in 1995, retiring in 2014. Still write stories for YachtWorld as their Hawaii Correspondent when on Kauai, paddling out on my surf ski on Hanalei Bay to meet visiting cruisers. My current service work includes OceanHeroes, recognizing individuals and their foundations who inspire us with their work in ocean advocacy and friendship with the sea. I serve on the Board of the Benaroya Research Institute of Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and chair their Illuminations event. In Princeville I paddle 6 man canoes, surf ski kayaks, do yoga and tai chi, bike, too many fun things to name, and have the greatest friends in the world. I'm involved with the service work of Rotary in Seattle and Kauai.
Jessica Muffett purchased this house in 1997
I downsized from a large beachfront home 20 years ago to small cute cottage with the best back yard in the world, but in the same neighborhood, and a block from the beach.
We spend 4 days in Seattle. The house has very personalized accents and is very comfortable. I loved how the downstairs was like a separate apartment almost. The yard was very beautiful. Alki Beach was just a few minutes walking distance away. We truly enjoyed staying there.
The property is a lovely home in West Seattle, and well represented by the photos provided. You are close enough to Alki beach to walk to nearby restaurants but a car is helpful for excursions and groceries. My family of 4 went in high season and paid the premium and the hefty deposit, we have stayed at many VRBOs and never been penalized let alone with held money for " getting dish towels dirty." The owner is proud of her home and has a lot rules, consequently you feel like you are walking on eggshells most of your stay. Good luck.
My family of four, along with my sister, just got back from a week in Seattle. This Alki location was great! It was a quick water taxi ride into downtown. The buses serving Alki could be confusing as they were often mis-marked, and not all stops are listed online. The July weather was perfect, so we were able to get a couple of beach days. Lots of good food around too (Cactus, Cafe Nouveau, Cupcake Royale, Pegasus), plus the Farmer's Market on Sunday is AMAZING. The beds were comfortable and the house is clean and well maintained. One negative was that the den with the pullout sofa doesn't have any shades on the doors that lead out to the deck, making it extremely bright in the mornings. All in all, a wonderful trip.
Our family group of 3 adults and 2 children thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jessica's wonderful home. Jessica was very personable and easy to deal with. Her home was in a great location and we enjoyed 1 of the 4 bikes provided to ride down nearby Alki Beach. This home is in a quiet neighborhood and is very nicely furnished, with all the necessary amenities. If visiting Seattle again, we would definitely rent this beautiful property again!
I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed this lovely home. The decor is beautiful and the layout is perfect for family entertaining. However, the best part of our stay was the location of the home. Close to shopping, restaurants and picturesque views of the Olympics and the Puget Sound. We were even able to have a bonfire on the beach.
Jessica, the owner, was amazing to work with. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat.
Thanks again Jessica for making our Thanksgiving vacation to Alki our best ever!!!
Jessica maintains a lovely home. Super cozy and the backyard is a delight. Being able to walk to Alki beach and the tide pools kept the kids entertained and the parents happy. Very conveniently located - just take Admiral to Metropolitan market, Safeway, plus all the shops/restaurants on California.
We would definitely rent again!!!
Four blocks from the lighthouse, one block from beach combing, moonfish shell collecting, agate hunting and viewing seastars and other marine life, the only question will be; shall we wander the beach today, or bring our Tommy Bahama chairs down to the beach, or bike ride, and which direction? The 10 mile bike loop down Alki and back, or to Lincoln Park and the saltwater pool? Let's stop for Top Pot donuts, or Starbucks, or fish tacos, or rent a paddle board or kayak, or take the 10 minute ride on the West Seattle Water Taxi over to the Seattle waterfront. Make up a Rotary meeting at Salty's on Tuesdays at noon. Evening? The West Seattle neighborhood one mile up the hill has 500 stores/restaurants with everything you need in a little town. Or take the Fauntleroy ferry over to Vashon Island or the Olympic Peninsula and bypass the ferry mess in downtown Seattle. Driving time into Seattle is 20 minutes if you are lucky.
