About Heather Lee

I was born and raised in North Florida, about an hour northwest of Melrose on the Suwannee River. After spending 7 years up north in Chicago and Philadelphia, my love for nature brought me back home. I now have a small law practice and enjoy painting, playing piano and guitar, and gardening on my little country paradise, Forest Hills Estate.

Nice property but has issues

  • 2 of 5

Place appeared very clean and nice. However there was dirty laundry in clothes hamper and bed sheets did not seem cleaned between guest. I washed them imediately. I found genital shaped confetti and male genital shaped candies in the master bedroom or my 2 year old did. There was a pair of dirty thongs rolled up on the master closet floor. The garage is full of junk, smells bad, and cannot be used. Also upon check in the owner emailed me a list of issues with appliances that made a long term stay a bit annoying. Initially i would have enjoyed staying there long term but after a week i was glad we were not staying for long. Washer machine and dryer both have issues. Urine smells coming from rug in the dining room. However this was a place that accepts pets, so I was not too shocked. Owner is very quick to reply, which is good because the well went out and we had no water. But she did act fast and get someone there to fix it.As I said the place appeared clean and the location was a bit difficult to get to but the location was nice once there.

Owner's Response: I believe this 2-star review to be dishonest and retaliatory. Unfortunately, the guest had an unapproved cat who urinated and defecated all over the master bedroom, and also scratched up a cloth piece of furniture. I had no choice but to claim the guest's security deposit to have the carpets cleaned. The guest attempted unsuccessfully to mask the strong smell of cat urine by placing glade air fresheners throughout the house. The home had beautiful, like-new carpets and due to a one-month stay with an unapproved cat, and its numerous urine and other stains on the carpets, that is no longer the case. Guest claims her approved dog "just threw up a few times" but some stains were clearly yellow and others brown. The strong smell was unmistakably cat urine. I even found cat food left behind. Yet, the guest still denies having a cat. I will immediately have the carpets cleaned so that future guests are not inconvenienced by the smell. Like many vacation rentals, there are owner items in the garage and closets, so I apologize if that is an inconvenience, but I do store personal items in my home. In 4 years, I have never received a complaint about the garage. The laundry hamper sometimes contains sheets or towels if I do not have time to do all laundry between guests, but again, I have never received a complaint about the laundry hamper not being empty. All bed sheets are ALWAYS washed between guests. The underwear found in the master closet were clean, and were not in that location when the house was prepared for check-in. I can only assume that the guest's 2-year-old found them and the other items while digging through personal drawers. There is also not a "list" of issues with appliances. The only appliance issue is that the washing machine stops mid-cycle, and the fix is to simply open and re-shut the lid. It immediately resolves the issue, so I always warn guests about this prior to check-in. I do not know what guest is referring to with the "dryer issue". She did not notify me of any problem using the dryer. I use it between guests to wash and dry sheets. My reviews have always been 4 & 5 stars. The guest had no complaints whatsoever until I claimed her security deposit as reimbursement for the damage she and her pets caused. The guest even requested a 7-month lease, which I declined because I do not accept long-term rentals. Please read other reviews on VRBO, Homeaway, and AirBnB for an accurate description of the property.

A Beautiful Home in a Quiet Spot!

  • 5 of 5

I was visiting family in the area and this house was in a great location for me. The house had plenty of space for me and my family that was traveling and is set in a very quiet town. The property inside and out was clean and very accommodating. Heather was great - she reached out to me upon my arrival and made sure to check in if I needed anything. The dirt road can be difficult to navigate at night, but after a few times, I got it down! I would definitely rent this home again. The only recommendation that I have is there be more blankets provided as none of the guest beds had any and it was quite cold at night.

Owner's Response: Hi Wynter, Thank you so much for staying! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay :) The king bed in the master bedroom has a large blanket. I also keep an extra comforter, 3 smaller blankets/throws, and a sleeping bag in the guest bedroom closets, but I will buy a few more for the approaching winter months. Great suggestion, and please come back anytime!
