3 bedroom, 3 bath century home in rustic setting
Our home was built in 1879 and was completely restored in 2005. Great attention was given to preserve the home's original character and is evident in the transom over the master bedroom entrance, claw foot tub on the second floor and pocket doors leading into the family room.
The home sits on 130 acres of farmland, meadows and woodlands. Wildlife is abundant with eagles, deer, herons and mink a constant sight. Ohio's legendary Cold Creek, which originates at the "Blue Hole," meanders through the property. A walk along the stream will showcase trout rising to floating insects.
The master bedroom is located on the first floor and has a queen bed and its own private bath with power jet sprays in the shower. Also on the first floor is the kitchen, breakfast dining area, living room, laundry and guest bathroom.
Two other bedrooms are located on the second floor. One of the rooms has two twin beds and the other has a queen. Also upstairs is a large family room with breathtaking views overlooking the property. A sleeper couch provides an extra bed if needed.
While the setting is truly rustic, we are only minutes from all the attractions that has made our area Ohio's vacationland. Cedar Point, multiple water amusement parks, local wineries, ferry service to the Lake Erie Islands and downtown Sandusky are less than 15 minutes from our door.
Maximum allowable occupancy is eight. Pre approvable of groups larger than eight must be obtained from the owner. A second home is also located on our property for groups that need more lodging. Check out VRBO#698472.

Bigger and nicer than it looks!
I reserved this place based on the descriptions and photos. I needed to accommodate 3 adults and 5 children (mostly teenagers). Cedar Point is close by but the real story is how ridiculously nice and big it is. Bigger than it looks, trust me. Then there is the super cool showers...
I should also add that the owner is super nice and really wants his visitors to enjoy their stay. That vibe is very clear when dealing with him. Free firewood, and free amenities of the bed and breakfast if you want to walk the trail. This place has is all.
Beautiful farmhouse on a beautiful secluded property, yet close to everything!!!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. We arrived a little late for check-in, but Doug stayed to personally show us the farmhouse and surrounding property. He also took time to give us a little history on the property. The farmhouse has been completely renovated and is absolutely beautiful. The property is spectacular, with a small trout stream snaking between full-sized weeping willows. We enjoyed our walks through the park-like setting. Everything that we needed for the week was provided in the farmhouse. The kitchen/dining area is large and open. There are two living areas with plenty of seating. The bedrooms are nicely decorated with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were clean, with two walk-in showers for easy access. We had three generations of family staying during our visit, and the house provided areas for both privacy and gathering. The location is great, just outside the main highway around Sandusky. This was great access to everything that our family wanted to do. We visited the Marblehead/Catawba area, two nearby wineries, the Kalahari Waterpark Resort, Cedar Point, Edison house, and the President Hayes mansion. All were within 15-30 minutes from the farmhouse, and then we always returned back to the quiet farmhouse, away from all the Sandusky busyness and tourist activity. We also were just minutes away from Toft Dairy, where we made multiple trips for ice cream. Thanks Doug, we had a great time in your beautiful farmhouse! We would not hesitate to stay there again!
This majestic old home was built in 1879 and underwent a complete restoration in 2005. The workmanship and detail is exquisite and the grounds are beautiful.
It sits on 130 acres of farmland, meadows and woodlands. Sixty of the acres are farmed with corn, soybeans and alfalfa. Ohio's legendary Cold Creek, which originates upstream at the "Blue Hole," meanders through the property.
The home itself is large and spacious. The first floor boasts a kitchen, breakfast dining area, laundry, living room, guest bath and master bedroom with its own private bath. The second floor has two bedrooms, a full bath and a magnificent family room with striking views looking out over the property. Several of the homes original amenities were preserved during the restoration, including the transom over the master bedroom entrance, a claw foot tub in the upstairs bathroom and a set of pocket doors at the upstairs family room.
Wildlife abounds on the property. Deer, eagles, herons and coyotes are commonly seen. A walk along the stream will showcase trout rising to insects floating along its surface. Also on the property is one of the largest oak trees in Ohio.
As quiet and rustic as the setting is, the home is only 15 minutes from Cedar Point, Kalahari & four other indoor water parks, state parks & beaches, ferry service to the Lake Erie Islands and downtown Sandusky. Local wineries are at our doorstep, with Fireland's Winery less than 3 minutes from our driveway. Edison's birthplace, the Hayes Presidential Museum and other historic destination are less than a 30 minute drive.
