About Beth Morningstar

We have been renting our Log Cabins for ten years and we are committed to making your stay with us as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Our family owned business consists of Gordy & Judy Groff and our son Steve,

his wife Megan and two children Chloe & Ella. We have three other grandchildren.

Katie, Kristie and Nick who enjoy the mountains and often are here to help with any project we are working on to improve the cabins. Beth Morningstar is our property manager and takes care of any questions or problems you may have during your stay. She is very quick to return any calls and takes care of problems in a very timely fashion.

We all love nature and the mountains and are drawn to water like the beautiful Raystown Lake. We travel often and want to have our guests experience the same quality stay we would enjoy.

We all work during the summer to make any improvements on our cabins

to make your stay with us more enjoyable. We purchased the property

in 2005 and since that time have upgraded furniture, decks and the front

porches. From the front porch you can sit and relax as you enjoy a cool drink

and feel the cool breeze as the evening sets in. There are 6 chairs around the fire pit so you can enjoy time with family and friends or just enjoying everyone roasting marshmallows at the fire pit.

The back deck is convenient to have your morning coffee while overlooking

our ten acre wooded area and watching all of the wildlife.

Beth Morningstar purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Beth Morningstar chose Allegheny Mountains & Her Valleys

It is close (within 4-5 miles) to several local amenities including restaurants, picnic areas around Raystown Lake, swimming and boating at the Seven Points Marina, hiking and biking trails also at Raystown Lake. WONDERFUL experience!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Raystown for years, and definitely found a new favorite spot to stay. It was close to seven points marina for our boat, the cabin was spotless and very roomy. The owners came over to meet us as we arrived, they were very friendly and helpful!!! We were also able to walk through the other two cabins on the property, this was the biggest but they are all beautiful and clean. I highly recommend all 3 of these cabins, especially to families with children. They are close enough for a large group to rent two or three at a time yet still far enough away that you get plenty of privacy .

The property and space were great. We had a wonderful time.

  • 4 of 5

Only two things would have made it better - the upstairs bedroom was warm, having it's own A/C unit would have helped. Having internet / cell phone service would have been nice. The 'path' to the lake wasn't what we expected - so we never made use of it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review. For your information: We do not advertise that we have internet at the Brown Roof Cabin but because we have Comcast Internet in the Red Roof Cabin you can usually get service from the porch or in the living room depending on the weather. Password is posted in the living room. Unfortunately only Verizon Cell Phone Service has the best service along Piney Ridge Road. AT&T or any other service does not have very good service on top of this mountain.

Great relaxing cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four generations really enjoyed your property. You certainly know how to set up the cabin to make it homey, comfortable, and equipped with all the essentials. We all enjoyed ourselves to the fullest, indoors and out. The fire pit area is perfect for after dinner relaxing. Inside is roomy enough for everyone to enjoy their own space, and the trails surrounding the property offer a nice woods experience, complete with all types of wildlife and birds. The whole Raystown Lake area is awesome, and Huntingdon is a short hop if you need to shop. A special moment for us occured when we watched a Black Bear swim the entire width of the lake from our boat, near Snyders Run.
