About Christy Chamberlain

We have been renting our cabins for 10 years and we are committed to making your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.

Our family owned business consists of Gordy & Judy Groff and our son Steve,

his wife Megan and two children Chloe & Ella. We also have three other grandchildren, Katie, Kristie and Nick who are often visiting and enjoying their time at the mountains with us and helping with any project we are working on to improve the property. Beth Morningstar is our property manager and takes care of any questions or problems you may have during your stay. She is very quick to return any calls and takes

care of problems in a very timely fashion.

We all love nature and the mountains and are drawn to water like the

beautiful Raystown Lake. We travel often and want to have our guests

experience the same quality stay we would enjoy.

We all work during the summer to make any improvements on our cabins

to make your stay with us more enjoyable. We purchased the property

in 2005 and since that time have upgraded furniture, decks and the front

porches. From the front porch you can and relax as you enjoy a cool drink

and feel the cool breeze as the evening sets in.

There are 6 chairs around the fire pit so you can enjoy time with family

and friends or just enjoying everyone roasting marshmallows.

The back deck is convenient to have your morning coffee while overlooking

our ten acre wooded area and watching all of the wildlife.

The cabin was absolutely lovely. We enjoyed our stay it was quiet and the ammenities in the cabin up to date. A very nice little gas grill outside by the the fire pit where you could enjoy your evening roasting marshmallows and talking. Close to the lake. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone. Walleye surprise

  • 4 of 5

Only problem we had was forgetting garlic salt at the grocery store. We had no way to know we would catch and eat a 10 lb walleye. It would have been better with some garlic. The kids loved it, the dog loved the place and it was a great set up for the adults by the fire. Firewood provided was much appreciated! Boat/trailer parking was easy.

Quiet Place in woodland setting

  • 4 of 5

This is an overall review of the Green Roof Cottage

The great stuff:

1. It’s at the end of the road so privacy was great! (Note: The other cottages were not rented; extra privacy!)

2. There was more than ample parking space; it was like having a whole cul-de-sac for yourself.

3. Great fire pit, separate grill for charcoal, and a propane fired grill.

4. Chairs all around the fire pit (8) and more on the front and back porch.

5. Owner’s eager to let you know they have free firewood all split and ready to burn. They even provide a cart to load the wood so you can pull it to your cottage.

6. Though only two people stayed, the water was hot, didn’t run out, and good water pressure.

7. A/C and TV worked well with a large variety of channels; Wi-Fi was strong.

8. All appliances and fixtures worked very well. Kitchen had adequate dishes and cookware.

9. Person designated to care for cottages always responded in a timely manner.

10. Fans provided for additional cooling.

11. Each bedroom had doors leading inside and to the outside of the cottage.

12. Clothes line outside.

13. Deck on upper level had a table for 4 and some small single stands. There was also an electrical outlet on the deck.

Better if improved:

1. Contract needs to be updated. Price per dog had increased above stated and they did have strong Wi-Fi although it stated they did not.

2. Normal but should it be? Some lights had burned out light bulbs so we exchanged bulbs from other lamps we didn’t use.

3. The bulk of the cottage was clean but more attention needs to be paid to under the beds. (Cleaning crew issue not owner)

4. (Only item that was less than we had hoped) The bedrooms which were in the lower level smelled musty. We tried to ventilate but it didn’t change much. I think this is mostly due to the bedroom location. They are somewhat below ground and it is in a wooded area protected by trees so it is slow to dry.

The purpose for the vacation was to relax and not see how many things we could do. We enjoyed are stay and because of the privacy we let our collie off leash which she really enjoyed. It was nice to have woodland trails to walk right at the cottage. Although it feels like a remote location, there is a Giant Food Store about 5 miles away for those who want more to eat than that provided by local convenience stores. There are also a number of outdoor things to do nearby; which we did. We returned home not feeling like we needed more down time to relax. Mission accomplished. :)

Very nice setup. We had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the green roof cabin was perfect. Nice little gas fireplace, modern kitchen amenities, wifi (gotta be able to stream music), great location, fire pit was sizeable and convenient, short distance walk to the lake...the list goes on. We even woke up to some snow early one morning and the view from the back of the house overlooking all of the snow covered trees and branches was amazing. We had a great time here. Highly recommend for an "unplugging" type of retreat.

Very clean and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

Other than going to the wrong cabin at first everything was great! It was an amazing quiet get away for the two of us that was way overdue. We can’t wait to book again with our family and friends. The house was so warm just with the living room fire place! We attempted the outside fire but the wood was a little wet from the day before rain but we still made the most of it! We didn’t realize how close we were to a store and a few fast food chains which was convenient. Not much is open during this time we attempted the Rindenour overlook but it was closed. The lake down the road that is in walking distance was open and a nice view. We will be returning again!! Thank you to the owners for checking on us since it snowed and plowed the driveway, nicest human beings ever!
