Budget By The Beach Studio!

Bedrooms 1
Space 350 sq. ft.
Property type apartment

About the property

Studio, sleeps 4, kitchen, footsteps to the beach! Great place to come home to.

Time goes fast! Slow it down island-style in this studio apartment by the beach. With a queen bed, two single beds, a bathroom and a small full kitchen, this is the perfect home base for a family vacation, or getaway for two. Beach is 2 minutes (or less) walk from the front door, literally just across the street. All linens and towels provided, free wi-fi and tv. Some beach toys and boogie boards available to borrow. This place has everything you need and will leave plenty of budget for island exploration!

Laie is a great neighborhood to live or vacation in. The spirit of Aloha is alive and well here and you will feel more like a local than a tourist in this small town.

Attractions in or near Laie include:

A variety of hiking trails of all difficulty levels lead you into the lush tropical forest, some winding along stream beds, and others climbing all the way to the ridge of the Ko'olau mountain range. Many trails end at breathtaking, secluded waterfalls that will make you feel like you're the only person on earth.

Spend a day (or two) exploring and learning about the many different cultures of Polynesia. The center is made up of seven different authentic "villages," each representing a different island culture. The dancing, music, cultural presentations and activities will keep you (and your kids) entertained for hours. They also put on fantastic and delicious nightly luaus. Their evening show is spectacular, not something to miss out on.

The beaches in Laie are dreamy and crowdless. The sandy Hukilau Beach is literally footsteps from your front door, and you could easily spend an entire vacation swimming in the cool blue water, lazing on the sand, and walking/jogging miles along the coast. East-facing for fantastic sunrises over the water. It’s a great beach for kids as well, with provided beach toys and boogie boards to help keep them busy.

Within 15 minutes drive, you will encounter world-famous surfing beaches including Pipeline and Sunset, and impressive snorkeling at the Shark’s Cove marine preserve, with an endless variety of other beaches in between. All shoreline in Hawaii is public property and there are public access points all along the coast.

Gunstock Ranch, about half a mile away, has horseback riding tours that will take your breath away and show you the country side of this small town.

At the recently-opened Keana Farms Zipline Adventure, see the tropical rainforest from an entirely different perspective.

A surprising array of restaurants are located in Laie. Everything from your average chain places (Subway, Taco Bell, etc) to truly unique food experiences like Hukilau Cafe, Seven Brothers Backyard Burgers, Pounders at the Hukilau Marketplace, and Papa Ole’s Kitchen. Something for everyone.

This apartment is part of our home that serves as housing for students of the nearby BYU-Hawaii most of the year. It has its own separate entrance from the rest of the house, and there are no shared common areas. The only time you might cross paths with another tenant will be in the laundry room, located at the back of the house.

Also please note, to keep our prices rock bottom we do not provide A/C. There are ceiling fans and stand fans in the studio to help keep you cool.

I understand " budget by the beach" but must there be an overpowering moldy odor right through ?

Rickety almost unsafe top bed bunk.

Towels were disgusting stained and moldy odor.

All beach toys are broken and unusable.

Owner's Response: So sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Some people are just hard to please, I guess. Having walked though the apartment prior to your check in I can vouch that the place was in good order and clean, no mold. I will check on the beach toys. Like it says in the description this is a basic, no-frills place. If you want something fancy (and expensive) check out the Marriott down the road.

exactly as stated, in a great area, simple, sweet, what you need to enjoy the island on a budget

  • 5 of 5

This place was truly a life saver for my little family who came to the island for the first time only to be greeted by another not so nice internet listed home in a not so welcoming place. The owner opened her doors to us on the day of request and the place was truly a breath of fresh air, turned our entire trip and experience around. The place is simple but sweet. Has everything you need for a small budget and is in a great area. The North Shore is a treasure, very beautiful, great beaches, family friendly, lots of small shops and easy access to the rest of the island with decreased traffic. The studio itself is big. The bunk beds are sturdy. The couch comfortable. The queen size bed comfortable. The bathroom clean, shower has good water pressure. The closet is huge and plenty of room for all your things. The kitchen is well stocked. There are even beach toys and an umbrella for your use. My only wish would have been that I could have stayed here longer. Thank you so much for helping my family. You turned our trip around and made us feel very welcome.

We enjoyed our stay :)

  • 5 of 5

It was what we were expecting and needed. This was our first visit to Hawaii and we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and experience more of the country life of Hawaii. The apartment is on the highway, but it seemed half of the people who live in those communities live on the highway so it seemed to be part of the culture and we didn't mind. The apartment was clean, the kitchen sufficiently stocked with the dishes we needed, and if we needed to contact the owners they were easy to get hold of. As listed, there is no AC and in the daytime it could be warm, but we knew we would not be there in the day so that was ok. At night there is always a breeze blowing off the beach from across the street so it was pleasant at night. The apartment has ceiling fans and a floor fan so it was just fine. Only negatives was the noise from the highway (which the fans at night helped to soften), and the tub/shower leaked. We let the owners know so I am sure they will have that repaired.

Good location with many activities and beaches nearby

  • 4 of 5

First of all, we enjoyed our stay in Laie. The flat is in a good location

with many beaches and other activities nearby. The kitchen is equipped with

all items one needs. However, there was one issue: the flat could be cleaned better. I contacted the owner and she promised to check this out. Therefore, 4 of 5 stars.

Owner's Response: Aloha Christian, Thank you so much for the kind words, glad you enjoyed your stay. I did follow up with my cleaner and have been double checking her work since your stay. My goal is to provide a space that is basic, but cleaned to high standards. Hope you get a chance to come again and be more pleased with the cleanliness of the place!
