Time goes fast! Slow it down island-style in this studio apartment by the beach. With a queen bed, two single beds, a bathroom and a small full kitchen, this is the perfect home base for a family vacation, or getaway for two. Beach is 2 minutes (or less) walk from the front door, literally just across the street. All linens and towels provided, free wi-fi and tv. Some beach toys and boogie boards available to borrow. This place has everything you need and will leave plenty of budget for island exploration!
Freshly renovated October 2017. New paint, new flooring, new bathroom vanity breathe some new life into this sweet little pad.
Laie is a great neighborhood to live or vacation in. The spirit of Aloha is alive and well here and you will feel more like a local than a tourist in this small town.
Attractions in or near Laie include:
HIKING
A variety of hiking trails of all difficulty levels lead you into the lush tropical forest, some winding along stream beds, and others climbing all the way to the ridge of the Ko'olau mountain range. Many trails end at breathtaking, secluded waterfalls that will make you feel like you're the only person on earth.
POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER
Spend a day (or two) exploring and learning about the many different cultures of Polynesia. The center is made up of seven different authentic "villages," each representing a different island culture. The dancing, music, cultural presentations and activities will keep you (and your kids) entertained for hours. They also put on fantastic and delicious nightly luaus. Their evening show is spectacular, not something to miss out on.
BEACHES
The beaches in Laie are dreamy and crowdless. The sandy Hukilau Beach is literally footsteps from your front door, and you could easily spend an entire vacation swimming in the cool blue water, lazing on the sand, and walking/jogging miles along the coast. East-facing for fantastic sunrises over the water. It’s a great beach for kids as well, with provided beach toys and boogie boards to help keep them busy.
Within 15 minutes drive, you will encounter world-famous surfing beaches including Pipeline and Sunset, and impressive snorkeling at the Shark’s Cove marine preserve, with an endless variety of other beaches in between. All shoreline in Hawaii is public property and there are public access points all along the coast.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Gunstock Ranch, about half a mile away, has horseback riding tours that will take your breath away and show you the country side of this small town.
ZIPLINE TOURS
At the recently-opened Keana Farms Zipline Adventure, see the tropical rainforest from an entirely different perspective.
RESTAURANTS
A surprising array of restaurants are located in Laie. Everything from your average chain places (Subway, Taco Bell, etc) to truly unique food experiences like Hukilau Cafe, Seven Brothers Backyard Burgers, Pounders at the Hukilau Marketplace, and Papa Ole’s Kitchen. Something for everyone.
This apartment is part of our home that serves as housing for students of the nearby BYU-Hawaii most of the year. It has its own separate entrance from the rest of the house, and there are no shared common areas. The only time you might cross paths with another tenant will be in the laundry room, located at the back of the house.
Also please note, to keep our prices rock bottom we do not provide A/C. There are ceiling fans and stand fans in the studio to help keep you cool.

About Jenne Paddock
Originally from opposite coasts of the US, my husband and I met, fell in love and had our three babies in the idyllic island town of Laie. We love the outdoor lifestyle and are passionate about traveling. One of the best things about going on a trip is knowing we will come home to our own little slice of paradise!
Jenne Paddock purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Jenne Paddock chose Laie
We bought this home in 2007 at the very start of our marriage. It was old, tiny and full of potential. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into making it what it is today. We did much of the work ourselves, making memories and putting our love into it.

Nice little place... Quick walk to the beach!
When we first got there, the place wasn’t cleaned, so we called you Jenne and she sent her husband right over to clean the place! That was actually a really nice bonus since we got to chat with him and he told us all the good places to eat and check out while we’re there! (Thank you!!! The poke at Kahuku Superette was awesome!)
Overall, we had a great stay! We walked down to Hukilau Beach almost everyday and went to Hukilau Cafe (just around the corner) for a few yummy but very affordable meals!!!
Oh, heads up for those who might wanna enjoy some beer/wine... the town grocery store doesn’t sell any! We were told to go 2 miles to the next grocery store.
Perfect for what we wanted. Great location.
Very convenient to everything in Laie. Traffic noise was a little loud but less than our home in Toronto. Basic condiments in the fridge would be helpful. Beach toys although not used are a nice touch. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Driveway a little steep.
Cozy and convenient to North Shore activities
The owner had everything I could need including beach toys. Travelled with 2 little kids and it was a great experience!
Thanks for the review, Terre! So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay! Come back soon :)
2 night stay in newly renovated studio
We would not stay there again. On very busy road to cite just one of our dislikes. Very surprised to see it listed on Expedia .com the next day
Super cute inside but bring ear plugs
The inside of this cozy room is really nice. Big open space, perfect for 2 or a small family. It is very close to a busy road and the sounds of the refrigerator/ tenant upstairs/and home owner can be masked pretty well with earplugs. It is only a short walk to a great cafe, perfect for breakfast!
Studio by the beach
Studio was clean with a nice bathroom. There is a beautiful beach close to be right across the road. A great breakfast place around the corner. A grocery store right down the street. We bought fresh fish from a man two doors away.
