This cozy little apartment with views of Lanes Cove is situated in downtown Lanesville (Gloucester) and is steps away from the water. With a beautiful mahogany deck overlooking a large yard guests can truly take advantage of the beauty of this small fishing village.
This apartment is in a house built before 1860 - as was often the case in that period the ceilings are very low (in some areas like where the couch with the bingo board is located in the pictures the ceiling height is 6' 3".) We have had people stay in this apartment for 10 years with no problems but want to be very transparent to any potential renters about the height so that there are no surprises upon arrival. Please feel free to ask if you'd like any more clarification.
A 2 minute walk can have you swimming or kayaking in the Cove, painting on the rocks overlooking the ocean (its a popular spot for artists), buying lobsters off a boat as they pull in to unload their daily catch or picking up a coffee and a sandwich from The Grind a block away.
Lanesville is a small fishing village on Cape Ann and is about a 10 minute drive from either downtown Gloucester or Rockport. Plum cove beach is a 10 minute walk away and a very popular place to go for a viewing of the sunset. Because of our location we are one of the few places on the East Coast where you can watch the sun set over the water - making us a top pick for best sunsets by National Geographic.
Gloucester offers a rich maritime history, is the oldest working seaport and active artist colony in the United States and is an ideal place to come to stay or to use as a base camp for excursions throughout Cape Ann. Aside from the local options for activities like Halibut Point state park, hiking in Dogtown Commons or booking a local fishing charter there are numerous destinations just a short ride away in neighboring towns like shopping and dining in Rockport, antiquing in Essex, visiting museums in Salem or taking the hour drive or train ride into Boston.
We don't allow smoking or pets. The top portion of our home is a separate home but has its own entrances. Both properties share our washer and dryer but are separated beyond that.
