3 bedroom, 1.5 baths, Sleeps 7-8, 1000q ft beach bungalow, blocks to the ocean.

Newly remodeled beach bungalow, 950 sq ft, within short walking distance of West Cliff Drive, Natural Bridges, amazing Santa Cruz surfing, beaches, wine tasting & brewery, biking, shopping, and wonderful restaurants. See www.westsidesantacruz.org for more information about the area. The Boardwalk is about 1.5 -2 miles away. All new appliances. Please note that this house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with no views. It is approximately a 4 block walk to the ocean , or a short drive. All beaches along West Cliff Drive require walking down stairs to access. We are close to Hwy 1 beaches, coastal farms, UCSC, hiking, mountain biking, and windsurfing.

This house has 2 bedrooms next to each other and a small bedroom in the front of the house. We have one shower inside. One outside for rinsing off sand. Please note that this is not a great house for large groups of adults. Read the bedroom description below and note that there is NO pull out couches in living room. It is too small to accommodate more than 6 adults comfortably.

Please note the bed & Bedroom set up. The master has a queen bed, flatscreen TV, a large closet, sleeps 2 people. The 2nd bedroom in the front of the house has a full bed with a twin bed over it, sleeps up to 3 people, but please note it is a BUNKBED, and it is a SMALL room located in the front of the house with a small closet. The 3rd bedroom has NO closet. You can share with the master bedroom closet which has ample space-they share a common wall, this bedroom has a full bed,(sleeps up to 2 people) flat screen TV, and a loft. THE LOFT IS INTENDED FOR KIDS 8 and older who can navigate the ladder. The loft is open to the bedroom below. It has a steep ladder-please see pictures. The loft has to 2 twins. This is NOT meant for small children under the age of 8 and you should be comfortable with children sleeping and climbing in a loft with a very steep ladder. There is a small opening to get into the ladder, so a large person will not fit though it easily. You must feel comfortable with the opening to the loft which is right at the end of the twin bed. Please see the pictures. Also the loft ceilings are low-again MEANT FOR SCHOOL AGE KIDS

This is an brand new remodeled house and is a great space to relax, bring your family or small group of friends. Awesome backyard for hanging out and BBQing. Please note while it is amazing and adorable it is only about 950 sq ft and two of the bedrooms are quite small. I do not have pull out couches.

Across the street is the beginning of a green grass lined park path that cuts through to beach, a quick 5 minute walk or 2-3 minute bikeride to West Cliff Drive. West Cliff Drive is a famous running/walking and biking path along the ocean cliffs leading to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Natural Bridges that goes for over 4 miles.. Great brewery and 14 wine tasting rooms nearby (when open) with restaurants, bakeries, and fantastic natural foods New Leaf Grocery. Close to UCSC, Hwy 1 leading to more amazing beaches and Davenport, Open Space Wilder Ranch hiking/mtn biking, Seymour Marine Lab are all located close by. Downtown Santa Cruz and shopping just a short drive. Please look up location on google maps. It is a great place to relax, in a great location. A home away from home in a wonderful town.

About Veda Putnam

I went to UCSC almost 30 years ago and fell in love with santa cruz. I try to spend as much time here as possible. I have been a property manager with rentals for over a decade. I had a vacation rental home on the east side of santa cruz for the 2 years (2012-2014), and recently purchased this adorable home in a fantastic neighborhood and location. I have plans for a total remodel later this year so it is only open 2015 spring-summer! During the Fall/winter remodel and be back for vacation rental in 2016 with an even better layout totally upgraded!

I am a native california girl who grew up in Marin, went to college at UCSC graduating with a degree in biology, then moved to SF. I earned a master in nursing at Johns Hopkins University and had children, then moved back to the bay area 12 years ago. I currently live on the SF peninsula. We love this new home for its great location, wonderful area, proximity to surfing, shopping, restaurants, hiking, UCSC, etc.

Few blocks to West Cliff with world class surfing, gorgeous views, a bike and running/walking path that extends from the Boardwalk to Natural bridges with miles of coastal views. It is close to winery tasting rooms, bakeries,a brewery, restaurants, and in a super cute -safe neighborhood. Easy to get to downtown santa cruz from our house with more shopping and dining and entertainment options. The Wilder Ranch open space preserve is a few short minutes as well as hiking and camping in Big Basin

This house is in a very safe, friendly neighborhood and we love being able to walk to everything or a short drive to downtown santa cruz or bike ride to surfing and the boardwalk. Natural Bridges and the Seymour Marine Lab, Surfing museum, and lighthouse are all within a short bike ride-walk.

Great outside space. Great location.A home away from home where you will enjoy brand new open kitchen-living room floor plan with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. Air conditioning, all new appliances, all new floors, ceilings, bathrooms, paint, and construction.

Amazing little getaway

My friends and I chose to spend a weekend in Santa Cruz to celebrate my birthday and bring in the New Year. After extensive research, I am happy to say we chose to stay at the Westside beach bungalow. First and foremost, Veda is an excellent host and responds to any and all questions instantly. Everything as far as checkout procedures and house rules are clearly outlined both in contract as well as a convenient information board upon entering the house. If you have any questions during your stay, she is easily reachable via text and reaponds immediately.

The bungalow is absolutely charming and far surpassed our expectations. We had 6 adults (two couples) and the sleeping arrangements were perfect. Don't let the square footage fool you as the layout is highly efficient and feels bigger than what it really is which didn't make it feel cramped at all. The two bathrooms (one full and one half bath) were perfect for all of us getting ready for the day. The kitchen is fully stocked complete with essential spices, the bathrooms were fully stocked with all the necessities, and plenty of linens/blankets were provided. Definitely turn key....just bring food and clothes, oh and some adult beverages if that's your kind of thing.

The house was extremely clean and it shows that they keep up on maintenenace and repairs. Felt and looked brand new. The location is amazing with a short walk along the green belt leading to the ocean. The only piece of advice we have is to open the windows before cooking some tasty morning bacon as the smoke detector is EXTREMELY sensitive since it is located really close to the stove. Not a bad thing though as this is truly a gem and would be horrible if something happened to this adorable house.

We will definitely be renting this bungalow again if it is available as it made for a perfect birthday/New Years weekend. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great low-key weekend in Santa Cruz. Get that credit card handy and book your next trip with Veda. You won't be disappointed.

Nice place overall

Stayed for a couple of days this November. Sheets were not clean upon arrival but homeowner compensated us for the issue and apologized and made it right. Good location and very nice for the price and upgrades to the home. I would stay again regardless of the issue we had. Maybe maid forgot ? Life happens.

Great Santa Cruz house!

This is a recently renovated Santa Cruz beach cottage in a quiet neighborhood on the west side of the city, about a 10 minute walk to the beach. The house is well appointed and sleeps 5 or 6 comfortably. We enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly return.

The house was beautifully remodeled. We all had a fabulous time.

We loved the neighborhood and proximity to other areas of town. Being able to walk to the beach or the store, or even walk to the wharf/Boardwalk was especially useful for us.

We hadn't been there a full day before we were all saying we would definitely stay there again in the future.

Things not as they appear

While I can appreciate the time, effort, and money spent on the remodel of the rental I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed. The first thing was the neighborhood which didn't feel safe. Secondly, there were many things broken. The beds were uncomfortable. The location was too far from the beaches. When I consider the rental fee and photos/description on VRBO, this rental did not meet expectations and I will not be staying there again nor recommending it.
