About the property

Review: "We're experienced VRBOers and this is the best experience we have had!"

The Clark House was built in 1890, a few years after the town of Livingston was founded. It is a Victorian style home retaining much of the charm of it's roots with modern amenities adding to the hospitality of this beautiful home. Nestled in one of the premier streets of Livingston, The Clark House is 4 blocks away from Livingston's historic, eclectic, and artsy downtown and 4 blocks from the serene Yellowstone River and various parks that stretch along it. You may come for Yellowstone but we're positive that you will also leave with great memories of Livingston and the Clark House.

THE HOUSE

The Clark House is a white-picket fenced 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom two-story home with a Parlor room, Living Room, Dining Room, TV Room, updated kitchen and small library with WiFi throughout the house. The property has a privacy fence around the backyard as well as an open area front and side yard. The corner lot provides ample parking and the 7 foot windows allow for plenty of natural light throughout the home.

Three bedrooms and three living/gathering areas make this a wonderful home/backdrop for a reunion, family vacation, or romantic getaway. Hardwood floors, high ceilings, historic details, and luxurious furniture finish the attraction and appeal of the Clark House.

The Parlor has aesthetic appeal with an unused wood stove original to the house with a dining room server, a bar table, and a reading nook nestled in the bay window at the entry room of the house.

This opens up to the next room with a reclaimed dining room table that will be the setting for your family dinners, breakfast or game nights. With an open floor plan, the dining room opens up to the living room and kitchen.

The Living Room has a 50" flat screen TV with blueray player, soundbar and subwoofer. There are over 200 selections in our DVD library to choose from when you can't find something to watch on TV.

The Kitchen has stainless steel appliances as well as many small appliances available including toaster, juicer, slow cooker, microwave, coffee maker and blender. All cooking utensils, cookware, flatware, plates etc are available for your use.

The downstairs restroom has a toilet and shower as well as washer and dryer available as needed.

The Yellowstone Room has a 30" TV with DVD player and Wii System with a selection of wii games. One of the sofas pulls out into a memory foam queen bed for extra sleeping opportunities. The Game room is also stocked full of Board Games including Clue, Scrabble, and Candyland as well as outdoor games like Bocce Ball and Ladderball that you can play in the yard or at a nearby park. French Doors open up to the backyard.

The Back Yard has a floating deck, gas grill with propane included, and outdoor dining with seating up to 8 people with additional seating options throughout. Strung lighting add to the ambiance and makes this a perfect patio for day or evening use.

Up the stairs you will find the Master bedroom with Queen bed, built-in drawers and closets as well as a built in bench/seating area at the foot of the expansive window overlooking the historic neighborhood. Antique trunks, thoughtful design, and natural art make the master a calm and tranquil place to relax on your vacation.

The Guest Room, with sloped ceilings and another Queen bed, is also lined with built in shelves, closets, and drawers surrounding another large window overlooking the neighborhood and nearby mountain ranges. Smart and fun design make this room as relaxed and comfortable as the master.

Off the guest room is a small double sloped-ceiling room with built in shelves lined with hundreds of books for your reading pleasure including international books written in various languages. The "Library" is also equipped with seating serving as an area to read a novel to the natural glow beaming through the window.

The "Map room" is a cozy room with a double bed, natural light and natural design making this one of our favorite rooms. Closet space as well as a hall tree finish the room.

The Upstairs Bathroom has a claw foot tub with showering options and toilet.

LIVINGSTON, MT

Livingston is always vibrant but is especially alive in the summer time with various festivals, rodeos, nightly music choices and more! Critically acclaimed restaurants line the neon-lit downtown area with choices from local farmed lamb to brick oven bakeries to Chinese to good ol' Montana fall-off-the-bone ribs. Various bands from all over the country liven up the night giving listeners a choice of what music they'd like to listen or dance to. Two live theaters, casinos, movie house, and bowling alley add to the nightlife options.

Daytime activities include shopping at many of the boutique and specialty shops downtown, some with history back to the 1930's. Recreationally, there are many hiking/biking opportunities in the Livingston Area, as well as world-renowned flyfishing, adding to one of the many reasons that Livingston is also headquarters to the International Fly Fishing Federation. Swimming, golf course, art galleries and museums prove that there is something for everyone in Livingston.

Livingston and the Clark House are in very close proximity to many other attractions beyond the city limits. Only 45 minutes from the main entrance of Yellowstone National Park, it's no wonder that Livingston is called the original gateway to Yellowstone. Livingston is surrounded by multiple national forests and has striking views of the Crazy and Absarokee mountain ranges. Only 23 miles from Yellowstone International Airport, Livingston serves well as a basecamp for those wanting to visit Yellowstone, Chico Hot Springs, Bozeman, Lewis & Clark Caverns, and the infamous Yellowstone River.

I've worked in Yellowstone the last seven years and have explored the area longer than that. I would love to share that knowledge with you to help ensure a successful getaway for you and yours.

About Ryan Watin

I first visited Montana in 2002 and have been in love with the scenery and mountains ever since. After leaving for a couple of years I found myself moving back to the area and working in Yellowstone National Park for the last seven years. I've worked in the Hospitality industry for 20 years and explored parts of Livingston and Yellowstone that most visitors will never see. I would love to use this experience in helping you have the best Yellowstone adventure possible! Thanks for looking at the site and hopefully you'll be able to call the Clark House home for a while.

Why Ryan Watin chose Yellowstone Country

The Clark House was built in 1890 and still has the charm of that era. Nestled on one of the premier streets of Livingston, it allows you to explore this walkable town with ease. Montanans are charming and helpful and almost every one of them has a story you'd be lucky to listen to. Many people come to the area because of the convenience to Yellowstone National Park but will certainly leave with great memories of Livingston.

What makes this house unique

We wanted old historic charm when we were searching for a home in Livingston. We got it with the Clark House, built just seven years after Livingston was founded. Featuring a parlor room, bay windows, historic wood burning feature, hardwood floors and a claw foot tub. Great natural light on this corner lot with modern kitchen and other amenities of today.

Crate & Barrel Charmer

  • 5 of 5

The Clark House is beautiful! The rooms look like pages from a Crate & Barrel catalog. Ryan went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. If we come back to the area, we will be sure to book the Clark House again!

Immaculate

This house looked nice in the pictures, but when we arrived it was even more beautiful than I anticipated. It is perfectly decorated- beautiful, stylish, yet homey. I felt like I was staying at a luxury boutique hotel. #housegoals

Charming house! Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

This is a delightful house! The owner has gone above and beyond to decorate with local decor (love the National Parks postcard display) and to provide everything to make your stay pleasant (welcome basket, tourist info). We were here for my daughter's wedding and the gathering areas gave us plenty of room to gather relatives and prepare. If you have time for day trips, there are maps and suggestions! Not to mention that the host is extremely accommodating and helped us out at the last minute when one of our rentals overbooked. Loved our stay here -- very charming, very clean, well situated and plenty of attention to detail! Highly recommended!

Super Accommodations in a Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

The Clark House was a great place to finally put roots down for a few nights as we made our way from Casper to Hill City to Deadwood to Little Bighorn to Sheridan to Cody to Livingston to Jackson and back to Casper! It was the place on our Wild West trip where we stayed the longest. Ryan was great to work with before we arrived, and everything from when to arrive to how to get in was just as he said. He's a great communicator! The house was immaculate, the beds were comfy, the location was convenient, and the host left us incredible trip tips! This is a great place for a family or for a group who want separate spaces to unwind. Ryan had plenty of nice towels, a frig ready to house your yummies, a top notch washer and dryer, a hair dryer, delightful hand soaps and even let us use his Roku and Netflix since the satellite was out! If there are many girls in your group, though, carry travel mirrors! He left an incredible book full of helpful hints about the area which made choosing restaurants easy! Livingston is charming, just like the Clark House, and not far from Bozeman or Yellowstone. If we do this trip again, we will definitely revisit this fun little home!
