Just what we wanted
Very nice location and the house had everything we needed. Loved breakfasts on the private terrace and the pool. Great access to nearby places (Grimaud's a must!). Thank you kindly for a lovely break.
This really is the perfect location for a couple's or family holiday. Plan de la Tour is a charming, friendly and traditional South of France french village with two boulangerie-pâtisseries, six restaurants, a village bar/ café and a creperie and is located nearby to the popular towns of St Tropez and Sainte Maxime. The village is nestled between low lying hills, surrounded by vineyards and is picture perfect.
Facilities include a safe fenced off swimming pool with additional children's paddling pool and garden right next to the property, and is only a few minutes by car from many fantastic sandy beaches, local mountains, forests, golf courses and of course the ultimate coastal towns of Ste Maxime and St Tropez and all of their colour and bustle in the summer. The village has tennis courts, children's play area and boules. Nearby (5 minutes) is an Aqualand and a full outdoor sports centre.
Plan de la Tour offers several superb restaurants catering for all tastes, shops, a bar and three boulangeries (bread shops for the fresh, warm morning croissant) and is surrounded by vineyards - all you could need for a perfect French villa holiday near the beach.
Sports that are within easy reach ;
* Water sports Sainte Maxime & Saint Tropez
* Horse Riding - Sainte Maxime & Plan de la Tour
* Tennis - Petit Jardin villa has communal tennis courts (tennis rackets required)
* Cycle hire - Local
* Aqua land - Sainte-Maxime
* Golf - Golfe de Sainte-Maxime (18 hole, greens overlooking the Gulf of St Tropez)
The village restaurants include two relaxed (but gourmet) restaurants with inside and outdoor terrace dining, a pizzeria with wood burning stove, several more french cuisine simpler restaurants and a creperie for light meals and a glass of chilled cider. There are also dozens of other restaurants to suit every taste (even an indian and chinese) in nearby Ste Maxime just a few minutes away or a short drive over to Grimaud.
St Tropez Beaches are wonderful - choose from family ones at Pampelonne with beachside restaurants and private beaches such as Polynesie Restaurant or party beaches such as Club 55 or Nikki beach - it is up to you !
St Tropez is still as beautiful as always and the quaint streets have many beautiful shops. Relax on the front with a drink at cafe Senequier and watch the world go by and the yachts come in.
St Maxime is just a few kilometers from the village, on the coast, and has a ferry over to St Tropez to avoid the crowds and traffic in the summer. This is a top tip as you can drive into Ste Maxime from the village of Plan de la Tour in a few minutes, park at the Marina and then walk onto the ferry that operates all day and late into the night in the summer and delivers you straight to the bustling St Tropez old town harbour. Ste Maxime has a Golf Club and also outdoor sports such as cycling, mountain climbing and walking.
