Anstruther (Ainster to the locals) is an old village which once supported a vibrant fishing fleet and, with the adjoining village of Cellardyke, retains many of the features you would expect. The fishing museum and the Ferry to the Isle of May is only yards from the apartment door. There are many fine links golf courses in addition to those at St Andrews for example Lundin Links, Kingsbarnes, St Andrews Bay, plus parkland courses such as Ladybank (Open qualifier), the Dukes and so on.

Lovely flat with fantastic sea view

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent an enjoyable few days in Anstruther, or Anster, as locally referred to. We had a comfortable stay, well catered for in flat and had the most fantastic views from all the windows! We were lucky with weather, very warm and sunny so enjoyed the coastal walks. Parked car and did not need it again until we left! Bus stop practically on doorstep and services excellent. Was a bit concerned being above fish restaurant but no noise or smell, just really tasty fish and chips!!!

Thank you Ian, for our wine and strawberries on arrival. Also thank you for your prompt response to our wee problem!! Hope all tickety boo!!!!

We hope to return to Anstruther before too long as still have places to see!

The best spot to stay in, in Anstruther !

  • 5 of 5

The location of this beautiful property give the most beautiful views of the village. Everything is on your door step. The local businesses treat you like a local after a few hours of familiarity. The flat, although very large is so cosy. We found it hard to leave some evenings. Ian and Caryl are a pleasure to deal with. 10 out of 10 from us.

Worked well for our short golfing trip to St. Andrews

  • 5 of 5

Ian met us at the loft to check us in. If your okay with a couple of short doorways, it's a great place. Staying in Anstruther was easy access to all golf course. Would visit again. Thanks!

Perfect seaside location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely 4 night stay at Ian and Caryl's atmospheric and tastefully decorated apartment. It is deceptively spacious with all necessary comforts provided - even the weather in our case. We can only echo the points raised in the previous review. Our only disappointment was that the puffins had all left May Island when we visited it so we plan to return when the Puffins do too.

Thanks for everything

Lovely apartment central location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely short break, would like to have stayed longer, the only thing preventing this is we have a small dog and didn't want to leave home too long with our dogsitter. The flat is very comfortable, spacious and full of character but with all the mod cons you would need. Ian and Caryl were the perfect hosts, making sure the flat was clean and made up for us, showing us round and even providing towels for the duration of our stay. They are both lovely people. The location of the flat is perfect, just over the chip shop, no smell as stated in previous reviews. It was great watching the. boats come in and out of the harbour and although there was no noise during the night the life of a seaside town during the day was lively and atmospheric. There is lots of lovely shops on your doorstep and loads to do further afield. Buses stop right outside but we had the car and onstreet parking was always found so no parking charges. Can't say anything negative except for us personally we would need a pet friendly place for a longer holiday. Ian and Caryl, thank you very much for your hospitality, you made us feel very welcome and it was lovely to meet you both.

Locations and Views

Had a wonderful stay! The apartment is spacious, with all amenities and wonderful view of the harbour and the Firth of Forth. Lack of parking was a concern when we booked, but always found onstreet parking somewhere, and the car parks are free overnight. The apartment is over the chippie, but we had no problem with noise or smells. Recommended.
