The place was cute and very clean. However the shower is the smallest shower I have ever seen. If you are a big person you will not fit in the shower. That is the only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5. They were very accommodating everything a person needs is in the house.
I traveled from Alpine TX to Dallas for medical purposes. It was an exhausting trip and, more than anything, I needed ministry for body and soul. I truly received it at this wonderful, beautiful, comfortable, snugly, cozy, relaxing, peaceful little guest house - not to mention the special care by the owners, Christie and Mark. They were wonderful and looked after me. There were so many special aspects of the little house that I hardly know where to begin. First, I want to mention that the location is ideal and convenient for very easy access to areas of Dallas in any direction. The guest house is neat and clean. Everything needed to make one's stay easy, convenient and comfortable is provided. Guests set the heat and a/c to personal comfort levels. The appointments are tasteful, quality and exquisite - but in a warm, relaxed and comfortable way - not in a cold and formal way. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bath is cute and efficient and all is provided there as well. There are really pretty french doors with inner blinds on the back side where guests park under covered parking and enter the house; plus there is another set of french doors on the opposite side of the house by the kitchen, opening onto a lovely patio between the guest house and the main house where guests can enjoy morning coffee. I enjoyed the quality bamboo matchstick type shades on the kitchen windows, which complimented the view of bamboo outside. One other thing that I really like about the guest house is that there are privacy windows (long narrow windows around the tops of some of the walls) and they let in very nice indirect light. In saying that, however, I would offer one suggestion if you want to sleep in. Since there are no shades on those windows, it becomes very bright in the morning, even though it is not direct sunlight coming in. Also, the house is near Mockingbird Lane, which has a good bit of morning rush hour traffic and there is some road noise until about 9:00. Therefore, if you don't need to be up at daylight, I would recommend ear plugs and a sleep mask and you will have the best sleep EVER! The bed was super comfortable for me and the bedding is scrumptious with the softest sheets and best pillows - top quality. Great for rest. Plan some down time just to chill and relax there. And, if at all possible, do try to meet and visit with Mark and Christie. You will be glad you did. They are quite special. All best, Carlon
I went to Dallas for a 3-day seminar and didn't want to pay the "discounted" rate at the hotel where the event was hosted, so I found Christie and Mark's guest house within walking distance.
Before I even left the comfort of home, I was beset by bad luck. Two hours of technical difficulties at my home city meant the flight was horribly delayed. Ice and snow created more delays at my connection, which I only made by virtue of a mad dash and finally I arrived in Dallas without my luggage.
Christie to the rescue! Not only did she drive me to pick up some essentials at the grocery store, she loaned me a new tee-shirt to sleep in. The spare toiletries in the unit completed my needs for the night. She even dropped my luggage off at the conference the next morning (it was delivered after I left), so I could have a clean change of clothes.
I hope no one suffers the same mishaps, but if you do, and if you happen to stay here, Christie and Mark with take care of you. You will sleep in comfort and wake refreshed with everything you need in this unit and with these hosts. Bravo!
Thank you for your hospitality. The suite was perfectly equippped for us, and we enjoyed our three nights with you. Easy walking distance to transit, groceries and restaurants of all kinds. I wish we had had more time to explore. "Till next time...
My husband and I loved this place. The place is designed to be very comfortable with a comfortable bed, great closet space, comfy living room with convenient desk area for office and an incredible kitchen. The location is convenient and the owners are not only great people but very attentive and helpful. The only reason I didnt give the place 5 stars is the bathroom in tiny! For a small stay it wouldnt be a problem but we stayed a month and the bathroom didnt work well for us. With that said-we would certainly stay again and put friends there if we were in town.
