About the Property
Secluded luxury: 2 bedroom, 2 bath main house with 2 separate guest suites
The focal point of the house is a spectacular chef's kitchen, sporting a 6-burner Wolf Range with double ovens and griddle, a wood-fired pizza oven, indoor charcoal grill, a fireplace and a dining table that seats 12. Extra-deep limestone counters offer plenteous work spaces and a bar counter provides seating for socializing in the kitchen. Two Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers plus a side-by-side refrigerator provide plenty of cold storage and two Sub-Zero freezer drawers are also built in. The kitchen is fully equipped with high-quality cooking equipment, including a professional-style espresso machine and grinder, and stocked with some of the supplies you will need during your stay, like fine quality olive oil and other pantry basics. French doors offer views of the courtyard and the surrounding forest.
The main house is comprised of 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and an oversized living room, while the two guest suites adjoin the courtyard on each side of the entry tower. The living room has a wet bar, massive stone fireplace and is also lined with French doors that offer views of the garden and surrounds. Continue down the hallway to the two bedrooms at the far wing of the house. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and includes a fireplace and Direct TV. The generous, light-filled master bath has separate shower and tub. The second bedroom in the main house has a queen-sized bed plus an extra-deep sofa/daybed also with Direct TV. The north guest suite has 2 queen-sized beds, a full bath with shower and a fireplace. The south guest suite has a king-sized bed, full bath with shower and a fireplace. All rooms have courtyard views. The laundry room has a separate entrance and a creative art space.
Outside the courtyard you will find an orchard and garden offering seasonal produce, hiking, a greenhouse, acres of meadows and a large pond with gazebo. Cowboy Town, available for day use, is a unique folly with log cabins, saloon, outdoor kitchen, firepit and even a stage for those with a theatrical bent.

If you want to use the pizza oven and do not have experience with such ovens, you will need to have instruction from me in order to use it safely and deliciously. Please let me know when you book if you plan to use the oven and whether you need just the lesson for$75 or a complete dinner with shopping, prep and clean-up ($800). Price does not include cost of ingredients and is based on 10 or fewer people.
ANy dditional cleaning fees are charged at $80/hr for two cleaners; furniture moving fee $50.

About the owner: Although I am new to Sonoma County, I have lived in the Bay Area for over 40 years. I previously owned a top-rated vacation rental home in Hanalei, on the island of Kauai, so I know what visitors want and how to provide a top-quality vacation experience. My goal is to provide personalized service and responsiveness to renter's needs. I live in a house that is at the top of the driveway, just before the gate to Moonshine Ranch, so I am available in case of need.
Why the Owner Chose Sebastopol, CA, USA:
When I decided to sell my property in Kauai, i wanted to find a 'family compound" property closer to San Francisco, where my children live. Sonoma County had always appealed to me, with its combination of rural atmosphere, sophisticated food and wine and more laid back pace than Napa or Marin. When we found Moonshine Ranch, the whole family fell in love with it - the private setting, the quality of the construction, the beauty of the area, the lack of pretense.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
When you drive down Moonshine Rd, you would never imagine what awaits at the bottom of the valley. The approach and setting are spectacular! Then you come to the dramatic entry tower with double doors more than 13 ft tall and 3" thick. The south-facing courtyard is a gardener's delight and gardening is my hobby. It was especially exciting to find a house with radiant heated floors, which are so comfortable in the winter. The extensive stone work on the property, both in the courtyard gardens and along the driveway, is beautifully laid in the "dry-stack" style, i.e., with no mortar. All the interior doors in the house are solid planks, more than 2-1/2" thick. The quality of the materials and the timeless nature of the house design give this place a feeling of solidity and ease.
